Complete scam.  They call 2 to 3 times a day for the wrong person stating they are with the courts - I've called back 3 times asking politely that they remove my phone number.  First lady called me a B**ch - hung up on me.  I called back and the guy was completely rude and told me to F* off - ya legit company.  Jerks.

These fools called a place I worked at 8 years ago threatening to have me served at my job unless I pay some erroneous debt.  Guy I still know from there called me all freaked out.  This is nothing more than blatant extortion which is still illegal in the US last time I checked.  Funny part is I have no bad debts and a credit score in the high 700's.  These people are nothing more than scamming, bottom feeding filth who dont have the intelligence or wherewithall to obtain real jobs like most hard working Americans.  Instead, they prefer to make their living harrassing and preying on innocent, naive people.  Hey guys at 802-448-5953...you can shove your case # up your a$$e$.  Better yet - just try me.  My attorney will have a field day with you in court.

Really?  Looks the BBB has a different opinion....Keep in mind that just because a company responds to a complaint does not mean they intend to rectify the situation nor does it mean they give a crap.  It only means they are smart enough not to be accused of doing nothing.  Then - afterwards - its right back to their old illegal practices.

    Read on:

Factors that raised Fitzgerald Goldman & Associates' rating include:
Complaint volume filed with BBB for business of this size.
Response to 18 complaint(s) filed against business.
Resolution of complaint(s) filed against business.
BBB has sufficient background information on this business.

    * In response to the issues BBB noted with the collections practices of Goldstein Henderson & Weiss, Shakir Bilal, currently in the same capacity with Fitzgerald, Goldman & Associates, concluded, "Now that he (Leon Martin) has all resources at hand, and a stronger team of employees, Mr. Martin incorporated Fitzgerald Goldman and Assoc. in July of 2011 as a better prepared company geared towards successful debt collections, adhering to the requirements of the regulations governing our practice. To distinguish itself from the older company, Fitzgerald Goldman and Associates has a new email domain, and will be launching a website in the near future. The new company employs a newly updated online database for account management, which is separate from the proprietary system that was used by GHW, as well as utilizing a third party payment processing system, which was an in house process at Goldstein. We also have a dedicated department which handles complaints, disputes and other types of consumer correspondence, along with a Legal Dept, Human Resources and several office managers that work on the collection floor with our representatives."

However, these positive actions did not stem allegations of threats of law suits, rude and argumentative company employees when debt validation letters are requested, calls to consumers' employers, and collection personnel giving the impression they are representing a law firm. In June 2012, BBB contacted Fitzgerald Goldman & Associates to respond to these allegations and inform BBB how they might further reduce or eliminate these types of complaints.

Mr. Bilal informed BBB that "in order to further reinforce the efforts to reduce complaints, the management staff is also conducting bi-weekly reviews with floor collectors, in which individual phone calls are reviewed with the collectors and used for training purposes, as well as performance reviews." Mr. Bilal also informed BBB that they are "in close, regular communication with our client ... to keep them abreast of our methods and any issues that may arise regarding the consumers we contact while performing collections activities on their accounts." Fitzgerald Goldman & Associates has stated they "will continually strive to make improvements in areas that are identified to be opportunities to lift the business reputation and credibility." BBB will continue to monitor the marketplace conduct of the company for the results of these efforts.

Goldwyn & Associates, Vermont, keeps calling and leaving messages on my home phone which is a new number.
It says they have two cases of FDIC Bank fraud against someone I know and that they are letting us know before they proceed to court.  They give a case number.  They want that person to call them back and discuss it with them.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

This number keeps calling/harassing our family for unfounded nonsense. I cannot believe they get away with this, and am thankful we know it is all fraudulent on their part, and not ours. I feel bad for those who might be taken by this outright scam. No one "serves" you over the phone. Do not give them the time of day for things you did not initiate. I have reported them to the FCC once again.
They give a case # and phone #, but I refuse to give in and call them back. I delete all their calls. Just give up already, scammers!

They called me today and said I owed money to a company and they were trying to collect on it.  I asked for the number to the company and they would not give it to me.  i looked up the companies number and called them myself.  They said I did not ow any money to them, they even transferred me over to the legal department and they said the same thing.  They told me by law they have to give you the account number, which they would not do, the amount owed and the company money was owed to.  They told me to ask for  written validation and they would not give me that.  The company said it sounded like a scam to them.  They also gave me a number to call if you live in Virginia that the state runs that can tell you if you have any payday loans out.  The number is 1-877-827-3501.

They left a treatening message to send me a summons.  I am filing bankruptcy because of fraud events on my credit history.  This is probably another one of those.  If they want to send me anything that is fine I will simply send it to my attorneys and we can then find out if they are real collectors or scammers.

I have received several calls each day while I am at work on my cell phone around the same time of the day from this number & other numbers. The message says that there are 2 fraudulent charges linked to my social security & name. They said that they are from the processing summons department & then the phone message hangs up before they can finish.

Just received a call from this number moments ago advising that my SS# and birth date has been used in a "fraudulent act" and that a Warrant will be issued if the matter isn't taken care of. I'm a retire police detective and I know that the call is a scam.  Folks be very .... very careful with the amount of information you give about you and your family. I've passed on this number and information to my friends at different agencies as well with my friends at the state level agency.
