I received a call from this number, and immediately checked it out here.  When I saw that it *might* be from Citi, I called them directly using the number on the back of my crdit card. They confirmed that this number is legitimate.  So, I saved this number in my phone as "Citi?", and whenever I get a call from them in the future, I'll ignore it and call Citi using the number on my card instead, for safety.

Several times a day I get this call. If I pick up and say nothing it will automatically disconnect. I just called the number and Citi answered and told me they removed me from the list. I should have done this months ago.

Calls started 2 days ago. Thursday 7 calls starting 0820 ending 2019. Friday 7 calls same time frame. Saturday (today) it is 1630 and I have had 6 calls so far. The last 3 within a 1 hour period. Only on Thursday did I have 2 voice messages-automated. Identified as city client first, gave 866 call back # and hours and days of operation. Said not a sales call only an account specialist can help you. I plan to report this number to appropriate authorites. If there is an issue, they should send something, email an address are on file. My citi account has no problems, so...

I received several calls from this number and my caller id states Citicorp.  They wanted my account number and I didn't give it to them.  I asked how do I know they are legit, the woman very calmly responded with "you don't" and so I said I was going to phone the number on the back of the card and hung up.  I phoned the number on the back of all my cards and there was NOTHING on record with them phoning me.  Scam!

Thank  you all so much!  I have been getting these calls for several days, but these people crossed the line when they called my work number.  In my case, the very rude caller claimed that I had not sent any payment for 30 days; when I told her I had the statements from Citi verifying and crediting the payments, she made up something else, "the payment due date of August 25 has passed."  I told her that my payments were due on the 6th of each month; once again, these payments have been credited.  When she protested again, I said I would have the bank call her to inquire:  she hung up.  I asked the bank to inquire, and I am waiting to hear.  In the meantime, thanks to caller ID, I don't have to answer the phone.

It is Citibank.  If you have an account with them they are not blocked from calling you.  I just learned my Home Depot card is through them. I plan to cancel it. And also speak to Home Depot and tell them they will be losing sales because of this.

Mine was not a scam.   It was from Citi ( Home Depot credit card)  they were calling about a past due balance.   Guess I forgot to do an address change when I moved last month.  OOOPS!  :)

Largely the same call and drop, call and drop. Automated my calling to the number to get 34 dial outs to this number  a minute and a then disconnect at 6 seconds after answer.  Let them have fun with a robo dial in ;)

Technology is a 2 edged weapon.

Just go to your telephone company web site and BLOCK the offending number, so it will not be able to come thru.
But that's nothing permanent, because those Caller ID spoofers use a number for one day or so, then start to use some other number. The numbers they use are abandoned numbers, not yet reassigned by the telephone companies.
    From Wikipedia:

Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's Caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station. The term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered malicious by the speaker or writer. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, Caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people tend to have in the Caller ID system, spoofing can call the system's value into question.

It is amazing that such a crooked practice is allowed to go on!
Where are the feds when I need them????? I wrote to my US Rep...no response!

Bottom line: IGNORE IT and never give the other side ANY information. PERIOD!

Check out the link and see what I did to these credit card collections hogs.

Don't give these scum-bags one bit of info and not one red cent of your money.
If people would quit paying these bottom feeder collection agencies, they would
all collapse. As they say in the Wizard of Oz... be gone, before somebody
    drops a house on you.

Have received over 20 calls between 10/18/2011 and 10/25/2011.  Normally the line is silent when answered. On one occasion, a recorded message said hold for the next Citicorp representative and then hung up. I haven't a clue what the calls are about.

After getting 6 calls per day for a week I blocked the number and the next day get a call from the same "Citicorp" with a different number. I tried to block it and was told it was already blocked. This is harassment if you ask me. The calls continue

Called me and left 866-680-8628 as a call back number. Said it was not a sales call, but I have not had credit cards in 10 years or more so it's not about a past due balance. Either they dialed a wrong number or it's a scam. I am blocking both numbers.
