Received a call from this number asking if I wanted to lower my interest rate.  I pushed 9 for a live operator.  Asked for the Company name and was told "Card Services".  I asked if they were aware that my number was on the Do Not Call Registry.  The guy replied "Are you aware that I don't care" and hung up.  I hope the DNC guys can either fine or arrest these idiots.

Another of these calls today -- get them on the average of 3 times a week.  Most times I ignore them, but when I do call to make another attempt to get taken off their list, they usually hang up.  This last time, when I accused them of harassment calls the guy told me I didn't know what they were calling about and that they were calling for the Federal Government....but yet the original call was from the same "Credit Card Services".  Now it is against the law to call numbers on the due not call list, but to say that they are part of the Federal government has to be a felony.  Why can't the government shut these guys down?

Received a call from this number today, 10/28, at 1:02PM.  I attempted to call the number back & received the following recorded message:  "(loud belch) This subscriber cannot receive messages at this time."  I attempted to call twice more & hit numbers 0, 9, & 1 based on other consumers' info contained here & both times received this recorded message:  (male voice) "Your message for [***]" & then (female operator voice) "(repeats #s pressed back, then) Are you satisfied w/this message?", then line disconnects.

Following this, I did online research & found that the # appears to be a mobile number from Los Angeles, CA & appeared to have MPower Communications as their carrier.  I called MPower Communications & was transferred to TelePacific Communiciations Fraud Mgmt Dept (866-839-8545).  I left vms regarding experience for both Sherice Fagen & Steve Carreo (Sr. Executive Fraud Officer).  I tried again & was able to speak w/an Elaine (she would not provide her last name), who advised me that MPower is not the carrier & that the # appears to be a Nextel #.

From there, I contacted Sprint/Nextel (800/639/6111) where I spoke w/Jerry who transferred me to Monica in their Fraud Loss Dept.  She advised me that the # is no longer active w/them & appears to have been forwarded to another carrier.  As the # is no longer w/them, there was nothing she could do & she did not have any additional info regarding who might be carrying that # now.

From there, I contacted my own personal mobile carrier - Verizon Wireless.  Had the worst luck w/them as they do not have a fraud team that can even assist w/matters like these & I spent 8 minutes holding on the line just to be told that by Cust Rep Jaime & then Supervisor Jim.  Supervisor Jim advised that the only thing they can do is block the #.  I had him block the #.

From there, I contacted CardMember Services at 877/999/3872 (the co the 818 # is pretending to be) & I spoke w/Supervisor John Hayes.  He advised me that the # is from a fraudulent co pretending to be CardMember Services/Chase.  It is not them, nor any call center that they use.  Further, they do not have call centers in that region of the United States.  He took down all of the info & advised that he will pass on to their Fraud Research Team who will research it & see if they can locate the carrier & then have that # disconnected.  Further he advised that they are seeing a spike in this activity again & that all consumers should be vigilant.  DO NOT PROVIDE THIS CO W/ANY PERSONAL/IDENTIFYING INFO.

Me again - Further, I recommend anyone else taking the steps above that I have reviewed to also contact the State & Federal 'Do Not Call' Registry, the FCC, the FTC, & both the State & Federal Attorney General's Office.  Following this posting, I will also be doing the same.

Thanks for chasing this rabbit.  I just got the same call and googled the number while they were asking me for personal info.  I gave them false info and then told them I didnt have my cc there with me but I would call back.  She put me on hold, came back and said that her company does not accept incoming calls but she would call me back.  I agreed and will screen the call better next time.

This reminds me of years ago when the police first got radar to detect our speeding. Well, it birthed a new psuedo industry that created radar detectors....... Let these people calling be, they are probably creating jobs.....

You are not ever going to chase these people down, and if you do, what are you going to do, spend lots of cash bringing them to "justice"? They are phising and I hope nobody falls for it. I have a 86 yo mom who lost some of her savings by these crooks........ You all know what is legit and if your gut say's ?????.... run as fast as you can the opposite direction....

Lesson learned -- the hard way.  Never give anyone your personal information!  NEVER!

You might also want to contact the credit reporting agencies to put a fraud alert on your file in case these scumbags try to open new credit cards or lines of credit in your name.

"Let these people calling be, they are probably creating jobs."  Really?  What do you want to bet these [***] are actually calling from out of the country making illegal telemarketing calls all in effort to glean personal information (credit cards, etc.) from gullible Americans.  And you want to let them be?  Hell, no!

Rude male on the line and when told we are on the do not call list and to take us off your call list, he hung up . Call was about lowering our credit card interest.  Using the number on my caller ID, I called it back and was greeted with a burp and a message that the party could not accept my call.

Came home and noticed that 818-201-6758 had called. Caller ID also had CA. Does that mean California? I called the number and got a loud belch and a recording that said the caller is not taking calls at this time.

This company calls with a recorded message stating that it is the final call they will make to you to lower your credit card payments and to press a key (in this case, one) to give your information to an operator. Eventually Kim came on the line, but refused to provide a phone number or address on the grounds that she is a call center, and call centers do not have to provide any information to the people they call. This is clearly a scam, as they had no information about the credit card accounts they were calling in reference to.
