I think if everyone who invested started to call or email movie phone (any public forum, Tv, Radio) and even the stars of the movie to let them know what is going on, we can at least get the "Bad Name" message out the of Alpine, or Summertime or whatever their calling themselves now, out there.
If the law can't get them, at least spread the word!!!!!

I'm willing to climb on board and waste a few more dollars if people are willing to do a class action or even just a just a consultation with an attorney on a broad not individual basis.  My husband and I invested and it was his "entire" 401K and a huge chunk of mine.  The promises were endless.  What I'd like to see is the stock devalued so we can take the loss and not keep having to pay Equity Trust forever or I'd like to get a portion of something back and call it a day.  I think it's safe to say that in light of the theater results we can get the stock devalued.  If we can. then we can all take the loss, I've already talked to my accountant and have just done this with another "project" that they conned me into.  Since this stock isn't traded then we have to force them into devaluing the stock themselves and reporting it to Equity Trust.  If they bring it down to zero there will be no penalty and when you get the 1099 from Equity showing what you started with and how you ended at zero you will get a write off that may last for years.  However, they have to devalue it first or we're stuck on a merry go round.   Does anyone want to go in on an attorney?

Really sorry replies to Thinking of a Way!!
Honestly, I don't think that's a bad idea. But you may want to start small...big name media outlets have lots of approval layers and planned out editorial calendars. It's the smaller outlets that may be looking for material, have an interest in building their base, and may be more flexible in their willingness to spend time with this issue. The following was at the end of the Cartoonbrew.com article: "If you are an investor in Legends of Oz and have more details about how the investment was structured, please contact Cartoon Brew."  (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/suggest). I also saw that the MotleyFool.com article was reposted by several other sites so that may be a good option too. And stick to the facts -- especially the promises of ROI -- that's part of why they had all of those state issued cease and desists.

I Would Be Tempted replies to Lost in Oz

I would be tempted to join in.  I wish there was a way to meet in a safe place where we could all chat and figure out how to do this without endangering our privacy.  I noticed that some posts have a red stamp of "Suspect" on them.  I did some Googling and discovered that those are posts that the Admin for 800notes deems may be fake or actually posted by people representing Alpine/Summertime/Oz.  Certainly the posts that had celebrity names were not to be taken seriously, but a few others that seemed more legitimate also got stamps on them as well.

Is there a chat feature here on 800notes?  They used to be called chatrooms on AOL.  I know that is archaic with Face Time and Skype and all of the current technology.  But I would be willing to chat in a place where our anonymity is assured as a first step.

Lost in Oz replies to I Would Be Tempted
I'm sure after my last post that it's not much of a secret to "them" about my identity. I'm not sure how many others got suckered into multiple investments coming out of that office like I did.   However, I understand what you're saying and it's hard to know whether people are  investors or not.  I would think that we might agree upon law a firm in this forum and then turn all our notes in to who we agree upon and let them sort it out.  That way no one has to individually reveal themselves until it's time.  I'm open to other suggestions as well.  We're either going to sit here and kvetch and cry or we're going to jump in boots first and try to recoup.  There are too many questions, less frequent communications and if you've noticed they're now offering to make the criminals into the police for the good of the franchise and that's making me uneasy.  I'd like to see a time limit put on how long to give them to see what they can do going forward and after that time pull the plug and devalue the stock so we can write it off.  I don't know about you,  but I'd been waiting 7 years or so to get to this point.

    a better tomorrow
If you come across or are the victim of an investment scam, the best thing to do is report it to the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC). They have online forms to contact them at their complaint site: http://www.sec.gov/complaint.shtml.

You can also write them at:

    Securities and Exchange Commission
Office of Investor Education & Assistance
    450 Fifth Street, N.W.
    Washington, D.C. 20549-0213
    Fax: 202-942-9634

You can forward spam or copies of fraudulent message board postings to:
    enforcement@sec.gov.

When contacting the SEC, you only need to give as much personal information as you wish. However, the more information you give them, the better they will be able to help you. Include specific details of how, why and when you were defrauded with any contact info you have on the fraudulent person or company you are reporting.

    So I See
So I see that Oz has done less than $650K in the UK in the two weeks it has been showing there. Guess we will not count on UK audiences making up for the lack of USA business.  As bad as the marketing was in the US I am sure it was worse in the UK.

Has anyone decided to do anything or just suck it up?  The two forums "cartoon brew" and "motley fool" just seem like places to whine and offer no real substance.

Whining and lack of substance are symptoms of the mass delusion propagated for years in this thread. Cartoon Brew is a respected site for animation professionals and cinephiles. Motley Fool is a long established and quite sane print and online source of investor advice and news.

The rubber stamp watermarks debuted in October 2013. Cautionary text annotations had been in use prior to that. Comments can be "suspect" or "busted" depending on how Admin reads the site traffic. Typically the stamps are awarded to shills and plants and rule violators seeking to disrupt a discussion. The site has no private messaging for registrants. Given the desperation displayed by trolls and shills here, that's for the best.

Foriegn Sales replies to So I See
Sales numbers overseas is a moot point. monies have already been paid and collected. They "elected" to take those funds and reinvest them in the project instead of distributing those funds to investors. I believe this is outlined in a previous post sharing an official release from whomever is supposedly in charge of all of this.

Both websites might be well respected but they are still nothing more than another place to vent and air out frustrations and grievances.  Neither offer any constructive advice but just want interesting commentary to keep their readership motivated.  I understand now it's all about the "franchise" which will run in "perpetuity".  With that in mind fees to administer would also run in perpetuity and it's quite possible no one would get anything nor will the stock be devalued because if so then there wouldn't be a "franchise to run in perpetuity".

FEE replies to Lost In Oz
You are correct it will run in perpetuity, which means that every year investors that used their 401K to invest will be billed by the trust custodian.  You cannot close account, withdraw money or transfer it, but you can be billed for it. so basically anyone that invested with a 401K should be prepared to invest an additional amount of money ( perhaps as high as another $10,000)  into the "project" through yearly fees levied by the trust custodian. Of course there will be those "pissed" of valiant souls that will close their accounts in protest. Guess what, that means early withdrawal penalties and taxation. So for anyone with a 401K please be aware that this is not over. The account may be active for another 10 years or more. Yes 100% of your investment is lost but one paper it still exists. it may not be real to you but it is to the trust custodian and to the IRS. So please be prepared to pay the custodian every year.

Almost Taken replies to Legends of OZ Scam Expert
I was repeatedly pitched this project for almost three years. I have all the investment paperwork to prove it.  After the second time being pitched (one year apart) and being told the same story---that "some really big investors were ready to put in some huge sums of money within a week and close the project out, so I should quickly get in on this amazing opportunity",  I smelled a scam. And if that wasn't enough, I confirmed that thought when they offered me hefty commissions if I could get other investors.  I am ashamed to say I know some of the players in this project on a personal basis. I also know that they scammed some of their best friends. Money is the root of all evil.
