I also received an email yesterday telling me to pay over $6,000 or I would be arrested.  This time they had a correct name albeit misspelled.  So glad that there are websites like this one!!   My peace of mind is extremely important to me.
The threat was from "Frank Hamilton atty at law. (outlook)"
phone # 882.224.8192.   What a bunch of slimey weasels whoever is responsible for this...

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I received 3 text messages from this Frank Hamilton telling me there was a warrant out for my arrest and I needed to contact him at 1-832-224-8192. I started to freak out a Lil bit, then I looked up this frank Hamilton guy and found this site, I am sure glad that I decided to look before I called the number, I will pass this on to others I know.

To reduce the number of unwanted email and texts you receive, use these tips:

Be careful about giving out your mobile phone number, email address, or any other personal information.

Read through commercial web forms. Some websites allow you to opt out of receiving email from partners – but you may have to uncheck a preselected box if you want to do so.

Check for a privacy policy when submitting your wireless phone number or email address to any website. Find out if the policy allows the company to sell your information.

Do not respond to unwanted texts or emails from questionable sources. Several mobile service providers allow you to forward unwanted texts by simply texting it to 7726 (or "SPAM") to block the sender. Check with your  provider about other options.

Use a "junk mail" or "spam" email filter.

I received an e-mail a few days ago saying that I owed 922.00 and if I didn't pay an arrest warrant would be put out on me blah blah blah...anyway today I get a TEXT message which is laughable! last time I checked they didn't warn you about a warrant for your arrest through text message the guy said his name was Frank Hamilton then the text actually said text back to chat or reply stop to discontinue anymore communication I didn't respond and don't plan to this has scam written all over it please don't be fooled

This is too funny. I just received a text from "Frank Hamilton with Law Enforcement Dept". A text... Seriously! What Law Enforcement Agency would text you to warn of a warrant. Bogus.

I got this email and I have no idea what is going on I am a singel mother with six kids and I don't need this right now . I am so scared of my butt right now

Received an email from Frank_hamiton-atlaw@outlook.com with a different phone number 903-375-7385 containing the same message as those mentioned below:  "We received Arrest warrant against your name under Act 79 Act 76 Act 48.  Kindly call as soon as possible befor ethe case is downloaded into the court house in order to get breif information about the case before you have trouble at your home or job."  Thank you for this website.  :)

It's funny.  I got one this morning.  The case number doesn't seem to change, but the phone number does, and frequently.  Mine was a 202 area code, but with the same name, Frank Hamilton.  Ignore it - nothing will happen to you, your job, or your family.  Scam city!

So was it a scam i got the same txt msg saying i owed 754 dollars

I received text from,Frank hamilton,him say the same,thing,him,ask,for,me pay 960.00 dlls if not was warrant for my arrest, it's scam!!!

I got the same txt and calls...I've been playing along with him and calling him constantly, he doesn't like it very much lol

number (903) 375-7385 has called me on numerous occasions. If this were legit there'd by Ofc, Det, Sgt,  following Frank's name.  Also any police job is in the Law Enforcement department. And txt messages aren't they way warrant notifications occur

Ok so this is a scam I was told I couldn't pay my through my bank a one vanilla gift card only that is crazy i tried to google his law firm how could they get this information I have to report this to the scammers website and to cash America or whoever it it is i don't have a loan with them it is crazy what a bunch of crap.

I received emails from Frank Hamilton as well.  Saying I will have a lawsuit filed against me if I don't pay $500 to Cash America Advance.   And asked that I buy a prepaid card to make the payments or send a cashapp. I have never heard anyone but a scammer say something like this. Also my case number changes per email.
