Received a call from a Ms. White stating that there was a judgement against me surrounding my name and social security number and stated the last 4 numbers of my social. She provided me with a case number. Just tried calling them back and it went to a voicemail asking me to leave a message. The funny thing is that as I was listening to my voicemails in order of most recent, the next voicemail was a robot providing the same phone number.

I called them back from another phone. My number is (by the invasion of personal privacy on the internet) “somehow” associated with my spouse’s relative who we haven’t spoken to in over a decade. The rep who answered said this relative is in collections, it’s a legal matter, and asked if I have a number to reach them. Sounds legit, and I’m not being snarky. I told him we have no contact w this person and asked to remove my number from their list. He said he removed it, so now we wait.
I’m reporting it b/c I am not the one in collections and I should not be involved in any way whatsoever, even my phone number, which is not listed publicly.

I had no one to warn me about this scamming company. THIS COMPANY IS ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY FAKE & they use all kind of scare tactics to get you to respond to their demands. Number one: Ignore them Number Two: If they insist upon harassing you; by the law you have to give them a warning issued and you have to block them . Number Three: if two & three didn’t work; let them know when they call that you’re taping their calls and you are going to file a harassment complaint against them with the DA office and your congressman.
I ASSURE YOU THIS COMPANY IS FAKE AND HAS NO MERITS OF ANY KIND OF DEBIT ASSISTANCE FOR CONSUMERS. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THEM AND THE BEST THINK TO DO IS SIMPLY HANG UP.

*67 does not work when calling back toll free numbers which is what this number is.  That is a very well known fact.  I believe this outfit is actually located in western New York which is the world's #1 Capital for low IQ, very stupid criminals pretending to be debt collectors.

P.S. spamming the thread does not help anyone including yourself and weakens your posts.

Got a series of calls from a Mrs. Richardson about some 'debt' from 2007.  After a series of exchanges, wherein I asked for copies of the original debt, and assurances I would get them, they sent me an electronic payment form.  Interestingly enough, a Mr. Richardson sent the forms.  I've asked them not to contact me via phone.  Total scam.  Don't answer, just block them.  Personally if they call me again, I'm contacting a lawyer and going for harrassment charges.

Dad validation by law must be made in writing. They were required to send you a dunning letter within 5 days of your conversation by U.S. mail. It will not be suing them for harassment there is no tort by that name. There are violations of the FDCPA which is what you would be suing under.

I am having severe computer problems.  I was backing my hard drive up at the time and using my phone (around 3 hours of my life I will never get back).  Looks like autocorrect got me and since I'm not used to posting with the phone I missed it.  The word should have been debt unless I thought that person was adopted and needed to locate his birth parents! :)

Got a series of calls from a Mrs. Richardson about some 'debt' from 2012 at a leasing company at KMart.   I genuinely did not know about the debt, and I asked them for the verification emailed to me?  I was told that I was "stalling" and I "knew I walked into K-Mart and took that merchandise", so I needed to make arrangements to pay or they were garnishing my wages.  I asked to speak to a supervisor --and was spoken to snarkily and in a threatening tone.  I told them that I knew debt collection policies and I have the right to get info on this debt.  Mrs. Richardson then told me "Good Luck" and hung up.  I called back and was met with a hateful tone and disdain and i demanded to speak to a supervisor.  I was told that my tone was rude and she told me she was being recorded and I said "Good".....let me speak to a supervisor .  I was then hung up on again.

KMart is pretty much out of business.  Kmart, as far as I know did not lease merchandise.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

    They Are a Fake Company
Evolution Mediation Group is a fake company. Do NOT give them your information or any money. They called me about a debt that I knew I did not owe. I did some digging into them, and below are my findings.
1 - They are not a registered business in Georgia, or the state that I reside in. My state requires debt collectors to be registered and licensed.
2 - Evolution Mediation Group appears to also be Evolution Asset Group
3 - Their website is nearly identical to that of Evolution Asset Group save for contact information.
4 - Evolution Asset Group is a registered LLC with the State of Georgia. The registered agent address is an apartment. The registered agent has judgements against her for non-payment of rent.
5 - Despite advertising on both websites that they collect debt nationwide, they are not licensed to. I have not checked every state, but know that neither is licensed to collect in my state.
6 - They advertise having been in business for 4 years. The date of formation for Evolution Asset Group is 3/31/2018. There is not date of formation for Evolution Mediation Group because they are not a registered business.
7 - A Google street view image dated in December 2018 of the building claimed as the address for Evolution Asset Group shows different business names on the building sign. It appears they picked an address at random and posted it as their own on their website.
8 - A Google street view image for the address for Evolution Mediation Group has a UPS truck blocking the unit they claim to rent. It does show who the owner of the commercial building is. I have spoken with them, and they have no record of Evolution Mediation Group, Evolution Asset Group or of the registered agent as having been a tenant there. They have never heard of these companies or their registered agent.
9 - A certified letter sent to Evolution Mediation Group's address two weeks ago, as of the date of this posting, has been unable to be delivered. Probably because that's not a valid address for them because they are not a real company.

I can only conclude from this that Evolution Asset and Evolution Mediation are one and the same, and that both are scam debt collectors trying to bilk unsuspecting consumers into paying for made up debt. They are aggressive, persistent, name call, and even worse - seem to have found enough personal information about their targets to sound believable. I would recommend not communicating with them at all and reporting them. I have already filed reports with various agencies in an attempt to prevent anyone from falling victim to their scam. If they call you, monitor your credit reports diligently, as I strongly suspect that if they can't get a payment out of you, there is a risk that any information they have about you may be used for other scams.
