Just got a call from this number from Latta, SC. Didn't answer since I always google unknown numbers. Blocked them after reading these notes.

i recieved a phone call from this 843-710-9764 number. i missed it and tried calling it back from my cell and it says number is longer in service.... if its no longer in service....then how did they call from it????

Just got a call from this number. Recorded male voice talking about how there is a senior alert system available for me (I'm barely out of college; certainly not a senior) because my family referred me. Dial 1 to collect it. No "business" information. Total scam. I'm on the DNC list.

I have a smart phone but subscribing to the providers call blocking service is not an option
So out of desperation I set my phone to accept calls only from my list of phone numbers.  The calling number still shows up but does not ring.

If you have a smart phone get a call blocking app. I'm using Mr. Number right now. I can recommend it & it's free. I've also used Call Control. Works very well but you'll want to upgrade it for a small fee. Many others are available. But remember, as with any app. there is always a degree of risk.

iPhones have a Block Caller option when you click on the details of the call.  Future calls won't come through.  Prior to my iPhone, I made a contact named "Do Not Answer" and whenever I got these robo calls, I'd add it to that contact and when they called, it would show their name as Do Not Answer!!

Recorded message offering a "personal medical alert system" for seniors as well as $1,000 in grocery coupons.  I report every one of these calls on the Do Not Call registry; it's a pain but since I started filing a complaint every time, I've gone from getting several of these calls every day to getting maybe one a week.

Second call today, but this one had a number whereas the earlier one was "Unavailable".  When I answered no one there, but I look up every mystery number.  The earlier call had a live person and was the start of a "United Couriers" scam call; this looks like a payday loan scam call.  As I noted earlier, the only thing that's changed recently is that I added a phone number to be able to unlock yahoogroups; this again makes me suspicious that Yahoo either sells our data or isn't very careful with it.  The earlier call was associated with my maiden name which I haven't used in years, and which was *never* associated with my current cellphone number or account.

Also, guys, please don't think of just yourselves.  Blocking the numbers may relieve you of personal hassles, but I need to answer out of area area codes due to family and job search.  *Report these people.*  Even if you personally don't get money or someone "doing what you say" out of it, the mass of reported calls *will* eventually attract the attention of cybercrime units.  The only way to put these people out of business is to get law enforcement attention on them.  The next person they scam may be *your* grandmother.

3/4/2015, 5:18 PM EST, received two calls back-to back from this number. Caller ID shows originating location from "Latta, SC". Glad this forum is here so I could check the number and confirm my suspicions that it was a scam. I never answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. Legitimate callers will usually leave a message.

Keep getting calls from this number

This is such a scam company and its pissing me off because they have my grandmothers phone number and she is elderly with a heart condition and they are causing her to worry when none of what they tell her is true! I have had enough, they NEED to stop.

Received several calls from this number in last month, return call to find it not in service. Internet search has this number at one involved in several scams

These phone numbers that are showing up on CallerID are most likely spoofed numbers.   The scammers behind these kind of calls can make the CallerID information display anything they want.  I have even gotten these kind of scam calls with my own name and number showing on the CallerID display.  These people will continue to call, continue to spoof CallerID, and continue to change phone numbers so blocking one will have no effect on subsequent calls.  No message is ever left on the answering machine.  These phone calls are never aknowledge by me or anyone in the house.  They will continue to occur as long as there are scammers in the known universe.  The only thing you can do is report these type of calls to law enforcement.  Nothing will probably happen, but we all just might get lucky for a while until the scam moves on to some other vector.  I have kept a log of these kind of calls.  Hundreds of them in the past few years.

Caller ID says "Out of Area"... no message left by the scum... number now blocked.

called me but no one said a thing why cant our gov, close them down or do something for once.

Called my cell and didn't leave a message. Blocked the number.

Thanks to all that post here, so I can check numbers to see if they are legitimate before I block them.
