If you paid them by CC or debit card you could go back to the bank and request that the transaction be reversed for fraud.   You'll have to go in person and print out a copy of this thread.  Show it to the bank people.   If you used any other system such as Green dot money paks or moneygram or any untraceable means, your money is gone.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them .

This number keeps calling me trying to scam me and scare me with I going get arrested that I owe money from 2008 I no all ticks these scammers are doing people please don't fall for this they will try to scare u and say anything to get u to send them money most these scammers are in India in new dehi go make out a police report or let your government no the more complaints the more will be done people need to be educated on all these scams. Received a call from this man yesterday.  Said it was a debt owed spot loan.  I did have a loan with Spot and had been paying it.  He said his NAM Group was the collection agency and I had been scammed.  But after looking at this and seeing his number I wander if he is a scammer also.  E-mailed me but e-mail looks fishy and I cant e-mail him back.  Called Spot Loan and they had sold my file to a company called  ....  Processing.  Called them but got recorder stating they would give me a call in24 hours.  Before Stephen Matthews called me on my work number I received a call from my cell phone and did not recognize it and did not answer it.  After speaking with Mr. Matthews I listened to the phone message and it was from him stating he was an attorney and I needed to get back with him.  When I talked with him on business phone he never said he was an attorney just a collection agency.

I don't know if this the number I was called from, but it us NAM, LLC out of Buffalo, NY and I paid them for a debt I knew I owed they claimed they were calling to collect on. They didn't render the money to the company they claimed they were working for and now I don't know what to do. Can anyone suggest anything? I called the bank and they can't dispute it because it was too long ago.

Got a call from the NAM group yesterday and they left a voicemail wanting me to call back. I was busy at work so was gonna call them back later in the day and then i got a call from my mother and she said they had called her! I called the guy and he wanted $250 and wanted $500 a week till the end of April for a DEBIT thats supposed to be paid off! Anyhow i Cancelled the debit card i gave them so they got $250 out of me! Calling the Real Financial company to see what the deal is!

A Steven Matthews called my brothers house said he was trying to locate me and gave him personal information as to the nature of the call.... Wow! Number one I want to know how he obtained my brothers number and what he is trying to pull I have been scammed before do not trust this!

You people obviously don't know anything about the laws, FDCPA, or statute of limitations.. you can definitely be sued for something that happened six years ago

Did you ever hear the saying that it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and prove that you are?  Because you did the latter.

So, what exactly is there that I or even we don't know about the FDCPA or SOL, which varies by state?  Once the SOL has expired, you cannot be sued.  Period.  As a matter of fact if the SOL expired and you live in Wisconsin or Mississippi they can't even legally continue collection activity.

I wouldn't advise engaging in conversation with these characters, but if you do, the key is to remain totally calm.  They want to get you all worked up, and the calmer you are, the more they get themselves worked up.  It's the craziest thing - like showing a vampire their reflection in a mirror.  Some if the goons I've talked to, I thought their heads were literally going to pop like a zit.  Perhaps it's the realization that they've just wasted another two minutes of their already-pathetic life on a tree that ain't givin' no sap.

Steve Matthews called ex wife who I have not contacted in 31 years, mother who is elderly, and brothers son, claiming to be a lawyer. He released confidential information to 3 people. I have never been to the state where he claims the loan was made, total mistake, he has harassed me for 3 weeks. I have turned him in to the federal trade commission. Also Heather Highland, Natalie Jones (same person I am sure) So do not let these folks continue this!!!!

Make progress by not answering calls you don't know in any way. You'll hear nothing from "Steve Matthews" or any other of his entourage if you're not. No kind of answer, he's got no "business" with anyone.
