I just called them back.  They said that the # belongs to
    American Medical
    PO Box 1235
    Elmsford, NY 10523
Feel free to contact your state's Attorney General's office to file a complaint about harassing debt collection calls by these people, I have.  They refuse to send information relating to the debt but continue to harass about paying it in violation of the law.

Called, did not identify who they were, and said I owed a medical debt. As it turns out, I had a receipt for the bill stating PAID IN FULL from the doctor. When I tried to share that information the fellow on the phone said I was not telling the truth and I had better make arrangements with them NOW. I told him if they call me again I will hand them over to my attorney and hung up.

Got a call from this number. They had right phone number but wrong address. Would not give them my real address. They started getting upset. I don't owe a lab bill to now one. So I told them, in no uncertain terms, to send me a statement. I do not talk business on a phone. Since I don not have a statement from anyone. Send me one and I will call you back. I said this is the way it is. Hung up phone.

Been receiving calls from this number everyday, sometimes twice a day, since the beginning of the month. Strange thing is, I took my daughter to the doc on a Friday, and calls started the following Monday. I even got a call at 8:14 AM on a Saturday!! I haven't answered at all, if it's an important call then they'd leave a message. They haven't though. I know my daughter's insurance covers everything we came in for, including lab work, doc's office would call me if there were any concerns, instead of an 844 number. I don't trust it, especially after what I've read here!

Adding on to what I just said, I HAVE been billed for lab work before, but that was under a different insurance, and the bill came in the MAIL. They also have a Web site I can check. I'm just leery as to how they knew, if it really is scammers posing as medical debt collectors.

Yeah, different Sabbath for different people, and not all follow it anyway. The more aggressive bill collectors call daily. They have no way of knowing you follow that day as your Sabbath.
Just block the call like I do.

Doubt it's a scam. It's AMA. If it's not yours, then they probably have someone else's medical collection with your number, possibly due to a typo or someone that had the number before you. Best to just call AMA and tell them to take you off the contact list since they have the wrong person.

But it's easy to get sent to collections because so many different providers are used for various services. This could be from a medical doctor, surgeon, hospital visit, dentist, blood lab - anything medical related, many companies use AMA. So if you've had any sort of appointment in the last couple years and a bill somehow went unpaid, they'd be collecting on that.

Drawing and quartering people is certainly no answer, but I agree something really needs to be done. Just not sure how, given how easy it is to spoof numbers, and given that so many calls are technically harmless individually - even if they lead back to a larger scam, its near impossible to prove all the calls associated with it.

I've had fantasies about an elite squad of spies who track down and take care of scammers and fraudsters, the ones who never get caught. They'd track them down and use them as examples. But I know that would never fly, nor do I think it would be ethical, unfortunately.

Even responsible people have medical bills sent to collections. Happens all the time, when so many providers have their own billing. It's very likely legit, as AMA is a legit medical debt collection agency.

Best to call and have them mail out the paperwork if they haven't already. They've mailed it to me. If it's AMA, then they will do that. And you'll probably find that it's from an ancillary provider that provided some service to your son in the past.

Of course they keep calling - you owe them money from a medical provider's bill left unpaid. Just call them and have them send validation of the debt, and pay it. Then they'll stop. It's AMA, they are a real medical debt collection agency. They won't just stop contacting you because you ask them to, if you owe money.

How do you know Ashley owes any debt? Just because she's getting calls from a debt collector? Could be a wrong number or could be a scam.
And why are you here anyway? You obviously know who the number belongs to as you keep posting that people should pay this company. Why are you on a phone number look-up site? Trying to do a little damage control perhaps?
