Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time,date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

No one says anything, hangs up after 5 seconds

Called my business mobile. I answered, there was silence. Disconnect after about 10 seconds.

Received a call from 8446527231.  They did not leave a message and I do not know why they are calling.

I've never received a collection letter only no message no response phone calls a clear sign this number is either being used by criminals for spamming or sold to the criminals I would never answer it . Clearly they're not trying to collect money for an overdue bill

Got a call from1-844-652-7093 they didn't leave a message. They called my cell phone! All you have to do is hold down the number then a menu pops up and I just select the option to reject the call. Problem solved.

I got a call from 1-844-652-7231.  They left a message stating that he was a detective and that I needed to call back or he could not help me with 'what was about to unfold'.  Said he was Robert Williams, but had an indian accent...

Left a voicemail, that obviously started before my into message was done as his was cut off. East Indian accent. telling me to call them back or risk the fall out. then wished me luck. Never said what it was about or where they were calling from. now that I think about it, it's a very threatening voicemail.
