They call every Sunday afternoon (including Easter & Palm Sunday) around 3 PM--no message.  Caller ID says OUT OF AREA.  When I have picked up, no one speaks.  I have no outstanding balances with anyone, so I assume it's a scam.

Just got call from this number. Only 1 ring because I had blocked it already. CID showed Out of Area. Entries on here say it's Comcast. They're barking up the wrong tree here. Have had nothing to do with Comcast since 1999.

Only a Fool would advise people to be vindictive. Not every debt collector is a scam, so pay attention to the call and if it is not something you were aware of and do have a debt, ask a lot of questions and don't give out info to someone your not sure who they are.

Every damn Sunday like clockwork. They don't leave a message so it must not be that important. No I do not have a debt. Seeing as how the other comments are saying it's a debt collector.... I have no credit cards, No outstanding bills, so there's no reason for a debt collector to be calling me. I'm going to call scam on this one.

Debt collectors don't care if you owe or don't owe.  They get paid on commission so they want someone, anyone to pay them.  If they can collect on the same debt multiple times, so much the better for them.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/
    http://www.consumeradvocates.org/find-an-atto ... tates_value=All

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Federal law does not specify what days they can or cannot call.  It specifies that they are allowed call you between the hours of 8 am and 9 pm your time unless told otherwise.  I would suggest that you take the time to read my other posts on how to handle them.

I've received calls from this number as early as 8:00 am and as late as 10:30 pm.  Because it says "unknown name," I never answer it. From several of the comments above, I see that this is from Comcast.  We have Verizon for our bundle package (telephone/cable/internet) and haven't had Comcast in several years. When we switched, we had paid Comcast in full, so I don't understand why they keep calling. I've been told that, once you answer "unknown" or "unavailable" calls, they can verify that yours is a legitimate number and even if you convince them to stop calling, they can sell your number to other institutions like them.  This is so frustrating.

Unfortunately I fell for a pop-up in an email saying I'd been hacked.  THIS IS THE NUMBER I CALLED LISTED IN THE EMAIL.  The person on the other end told me my windows 10 had run out (I know now this was wrong).  I let them into my computer, and then realized it was a mistake.  I disconnected and they called back.  They did not leave a back door (had family check out my system), but they did change my hotmail password and listed that phone number as the reset phone.  Guess he was mad I figured them out.  They likely look for info anyway they can get it and then try to collect even if you don't have a debt.  Don't trust a word they say.

"just think what would have happened if I had answered or called back"  Well for starters you would have had the start of an FDCPA case.  You could have sued them and made them pay you a hansom sum of money.  That money would have paid your rent or groceries for at least a year or more.  Instead you chose to stick your head in the sand and hope they went away.  They probably won't.  Maybe it is time to stop being apathetic and to start being proactive.  You could start by reading my other post,  Or you can put up with the calls.  Your choice.
