The is such a thing called someone else having your daughters phone number before she had it. As you started she had the number for only a year. I've had my number for 10 years and still get calls for a guy I don't even know. So because they are looking for someone that once used that number doesn't mean it is a scam. I will also say yes you can be taken to court for unpaid bills, have taxes with held, and wage garnishment. This I personally know cause they have done all the above for my student loan, back owed rent I was taken to court over, and a medical I didn't pay. I'm older now and learned my lesson the hard way!  Pay your bills!!!!

What part of the threatening phones calls don't you get?  Illegal, per the FDCPA!  Typical shill - telling a father that his TEN YEAR OLD daughter should pay her bills!  Good job, Sherlock!  Thanks for pointing out again, that this number is used by scammers!  Way to go!

This is an attempt to get your credit card information from you.  These people are scam artists, dopey at their trade.  Read all the posts below.  This is what you can do if you have a smart phone.  Enter that number onto your contacts.  I used "axsholes" as the name.  Then go to "axsholes" in your contacts and in the upper right hand corner there are three vertical dots. Hit that ~~ then "add to reject list" ~~ and the matter is done.

This is my second phone number and call from someone saying they have a subpoena to deliver to me.   It has been decades since my last late payment on anything (misspent but memorable youth).  The caller named himself as Christopher Jacobson but wouldn't say what it was about except it was for the State of Texas.  The other phone number was 844-594-6062 but it was for Hawaii.  It seems to me like my phone number is getting passed around.

Got a voicemail from someone saying they were a Jonathan stone. Sounded like he was eating as he was leaving the message. Told me the same as he told the others. What this company doesn't know is my husband is an attorney and my father in law a judge. Needless to say I wasn't fooled and anyone who leaves a comment with the phrase "just saying" or claiming they paid obviously is one of the losers who are apart of this scam. People please don't be fooled

Total scam.  Why would a New York debt collector be doing with a subpoena in the first place?  A subpoena just orders someone to show up for a hearing.  Period.  Makes no sense.  Makes even less sense if a New York debt collector had a subpoena telling someone to show up for court in another state.  That's not how it works.  These [***] will try ANY means fair or foul to get you to pay them something.  Block their calls.

I am receiving calls from this number stating that I am being sued do to lack of payments. Threatening me to bring documents to my home and or work place. I have received this garbage and threats for almost 2 years. I have reported these people to the better business bureau, my attorney, the local district attorney and the state attorney generals office! I have spoken to them and they are looking for someone not living in my home. I have been threatened with bodily harm, financial ruin, as well as an extended jail term. I have had enough but seems there is nothing I can do. I do hope they show up at my home . . . I will demonstrate bodily harm!

Any threats of physical injury should be reported to you local police.  This is a New York state REGISTERED LLC.

As a practical matter I wouldn't worry too much about these people.  They are basically into threats, nothing more.

This all stems from one giant scum bucket in the WNY area that goes by the name of Sean Millard. Look him up, hes been shut down several times, then goes and opens comapanies in other junkies names so he stays behind the scenes. Ive been in contact directly with AG Eric Schneiderman and his assistant AG Karen Davis. They both know allllllll about Mr. Millard and his illegal threatening tactics. The reason his one company, Matthews Middleton & Associates has been shut down and he was forced to pay a $10,000.00 fine. I have been on this guys tail for the past 5 months or so, following him from Matthews Middleton, to Swanson Walker & Associates, to Heilig Fleischer & Associates, all the way through a Winterburg Mcmichaels & Associates. Im on to you Mr. Millard and so is the NY attorney generals office. I promise you by the time we are done with you, youll be sitting in a 8x10 cell. Youve taken advantage of way too many people and it must stop.

How can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:

The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.

The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.

The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.

The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.

Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
    The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.

Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
    Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
    Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.

Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.

Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
