Said they were from credit card company. They are scammers. DO NOT GIVE INFO TO THEM!

Reported them to "Do not call"  Everyone should do that.

When this call comes in, caller ID shows "unknown name". If you call this number back the recording says this number is not in service. If it's not in service, how can it show up on caller ID? They will never leave a message and I will not answer any calls that come in as unknown caller.

They keep calling and I keep pressing 1 to speak to someone. The second I ask who they are they want my CC number.  When I ask to be removed from their list they hangup on me.

Every week this goes on.  I keep reporting them on the do not call registry and nothing is done about it.

I was called to my home phone and i wanted to know who called me so I looked it up and so far have found nothing. It might be a credit card company but i dont know. They are from Tallahassee Florida and i have no idea who it is I need information should I pick it up? But i never pick up to unkown numbers, so i dont know what to do, I guess i will just let it ring next time it comes around. I still need to see if they left a message, but i doubt that they did.

I found out that it is a telemarketer from Florida. Her name is Stephanie. The carrier is embarq Florida, inc and that her number is    850-386-1643

This number is annoying as hell if you own it please stop calling people nobody wants you to call them you are disturbing the peace.

I reported this number to "Do Not Call". I tend to get many of these types of calls when I'm on the phone; the call waiting indicator informs me, but I do not break away unless I recognize the number. Can they monitor when my line is in use?

No legitimate company uses a false 800 number. It is important to recognize that reporting them to the do not call list is a waste of time. 1-850-386-1643 is a false number.  Crooks do not pay attention to the ist and 99% of them are using false 800 numbers anyway.  

My suggestion is to buy a loud police whistle( or any really loud horn) and ANSWER the phone, follow directions until you get a live person.. and blow the whistle or horn  into the phone until they hang up. Today they tried calling back after I blew the whistle.  That time I did not answer.  I almost look forward to these stupid calls so that I can feel that I'm doing SOMETHING to retaliate.  

I have received at least three calls from this number a week.  Others are 1800-867-7183 and 1-801-227-0004.

Okay Folks.... and thanks Pink... I called Embarq Florida Inc. 1-888  723-8010 and they said that they have no such number in their files.  The woman said these actions are called spoofing.  It was suggested that we call OUR OWN telephone carrier and complain to the "Annoyance Call" department and they can block calls from these numbers.  I don't know if it will work but I am going to give it a shot with all the numbers I have listed.

Hope it works for all of us. I'm still going to use my whistle....

They used to call from 506-221-4564 or 506-228-4562. They are Canadian. I notified a Canadian government communications agency about them, and they call from 850-386-1643 ever since. The do not call list means nothing to them. The only thing you can do is say "dumb chinook" and hang up... (the loud whistle doesn't work so good in the quiet office)

Supposed credit card solicitor

Las Vegas, NV: 850-386-1643 for months, three times a week.  I don't answer it and once I did. Credit card scam, asked them to take number off list. They didn't... I have reported this to do not call, obviously this is still going on.  When will the government get these companies to stop.

Too late for my mom! Don't answer these calls! My mom is now a victim of identity theft because she decided to answer and press 1 to get her interest rates lowered on her credit card accounts. We are on the federal "do not call" list and these scam artists can still get through to our phone lines.  The caller id list it as a call coming from Florida.  We normally hang up or ignore these 3x a day calls, but my mother being in a desperate situation decided to see what they had to offer the other day.  A representative came on the line referred to the company as "debt solutions" explained, and convinced my mom to hear more about it. The lady stated that they are a non-profit organization and they dont make any money off their customers.  If they are unable to save you at least $2500 in interest a year there wouldnt be a charge for their services, but if they were able help her save they would charge a fee of $900. Throughout the call they maintained professionalism and continued to state that they were recording the conversations.  (Don't let this fool you.)  My mom agreed to hear more about it, but insisted that she didn't agree to any charge unless she gave them the okay to follow thorugh.  She then transfered my mom to a differen't representative who began to gather her debt information.  She was able to convince my mom to give her credit card numbers, last four of ss#, etc.  They lady then picked the 2 best cards and began calling the companies with my mom on the line.  When she reached the first credit card co. she stated that she was representing my mom and was trying to "aggressively" lower her interest rates. Of course the credit card company obtained permission to speak with the 3rd party and then began verfiying my mother with the 3rd party on the line.  As a result they were able to gather even more of my mother's personal information, which is suppose to keep her secure.  This particular credit card company was unable to lower the apr on my mom's acct.  So the rep. placed my mom on hold again and began trying her other credit cards.  She asked my mom again for her full ss# this time.  My mom stated she didn't feel comfortable giving it out, the representave sweet talked her again with "fraud security talk" and "all her info. was safe" and was able to get the entire ss# out of her.  She placed my mom on hold again (3rd time)at this point my mom became suspicous and disconnected the call.  The lady continued to call back and would not stop.  She left a message stating that her name was "Laura" and the call was disconected.  She mentioned that she was able to get my mom approved for an hsbc card and she would be charged on her card by equity first. She said if there were any questions to call 1-866-533-0692.  When we call this # all we get is an automated message for customer care which directs us to leave a message.  When we call the phone numbers on caller id they are non working numbers.  Just yesterday my mom got an alert from the credit card company that they spoke to that day for a large purchase on her card.  Sure enough there was a fraudulant charge for $1000 on her card which was not authorized.  Not only did my mom's card get charged without her autorization she didnt recieve any services for the fee that was charged.  These con artists are taking advantage of desparate people who aren't able to comprehend.  My mom has been ill for the last couple years and they caught her at her weakest point claiming that they could help solve her problems when really they just created more problems that will never go away.

These people call every few days and a recording tells me to punch a certain number or call back to get lower interest on my credit cards.  I have not had ANY credit cards for 15 years.
