I received a call from 516-246-8011 saying that I needed to call back 850-546-6444 to avoid court proceedings.  I find it bizarre that they didn't leave any additional information...I also find it really humorous that when I googled the 516 number, it came up with a Craigslist post and the post id and included an 850 Florida number...scam

I got the same message on my answering machine

Received call from Robert Bates at 850-546-6444 stating I had a case# against me for loans.  Received a call once before saying the sheriff was coming to get me immediately and take me to jail.  This was a scam call too.  This call will be reported to our local police officials.

Called for my brother saying a legal action is being prepared against him. He was to call back with payment in full or the name of his attorney. Will let him know this is a scam.

I just got a call from this number stating a legal matter. Didn't state my name or theirs just a so called case number. Every 6 months it's a different company stating the same scam. I know better just report number and keep moving.

Yes, big scam. You can just tell by the voice mails they leave. I wish I could run into one of these shills in the street.

These con artists have been calling my home and cell phones morning, noon and night for the past several weeks. And their messages have been growing increasingly hostile and threatening with each passing day - especially this week.

So I telephoned them this morning to see if I could figure out their con, and all I can say is WOW!!! These morons wouldn't know their head from a hole in the wall. They're not the slightest bit interested in obeying the laws of our land which govern/regulate such activity. Any mention whatsoever of the FDCPA results in them hanging up on you. Any attempt to confirm who they are, their address, or anything else official - and they hang up on you.

I called six times, and in each call they had my name as something different. They claimed to have emailed me a proof of debt, to an email account I closed SEVEN years ago. When I explained that email is not suffcient proof of debt under the FDCPA - they were not to be reasoned with. The claimed to have mailed a hard copy POD as well, to an address where I have not lived in nearly 20 years. Yet, somehow, they have my current phone number? Yeah, right.

Bottom line... Don't waste your time or energy. The law will eventually catch up with these fools - and God help them when that happens.

They keep called about a legal matter. Im not in any litigation. I put them on my reject list and they call from a different number. My caller ID said florida when I called back. The office was closed.  The bates company. I'm on the do not call registry and they still call. I'm reporting them.

Yes they are a scam. I reported them they call from different numbers. I just block them I don't call back

I've been getting similar calls for a month now from a number local to my area. Caller doesn't identify himself but says a legal matter has been decided on my behalf, and to call attorney Thomas Bates with my info because, well, I'm more or less in some kind of legal trouble.

This is definitely one of the more convincing scam calls I've received this year, so whoever is behind it are most likely less-dumb than your average desperate loser with a landline.

PEOPLE, DON'T FALL FOR IT.

I received the same message as the ones below. The call was made from a TX #409-632-4067. We have gotten several calls like these in the last 2 yrs from different #s & states. They are scams, but I sure am tired of getting them. Wish they could catch whoever doing this!

Exact same message, caller I.D. indicated coming from a local number. Call back the local number and "The number you have reached is no longer..." from the phone company so they're definitely using a spoofer. Have called me 9 times over the past month, each time the exact same message n my voicemail except periodically the case number changed a few times - they "assigned" me 4 different numbers. They just called me at work and I informed them all all phone calls were recorded and turned over to the local FBI office and the guy started to to say suck my d***k - I'm assuming. I hung up at the "my" point and I can't thing of too many other things that a criminal would be... *shrug*
Same threat, same contact person, same call back number. Same bull sheyite.

Same thing Pending Law suit - From Sprint I NEVER had a Sprint account. Told them that yet they keep calling so I went to the FTC website and filled a scam report. Everyone should do this 850-546-6444 is a real SCAM report them

I go the same message twice this month and it is very annoying. I saved the message on my voicemail and my voice to text.

I actually called my attorney had him contact the number back and it was a Scam. I filed for bankruptcy in 2013 because I had a stroke and can't speak or walk. Thomas Bates is phony and preys on anyone.

I keep getting the same phone calls I blocked the number but they still can leave a message 850-546-6444 Thomas Bates definitely a SCAM!!!!!

I have been getting this call for about a year now and nothing has happened. How do I o about checking if I have a pending against me.

I had the exact same message sort of message.  It also originated with a local number but then referred me to the same 850-546-6444 number.    Do NOT leave the message with your "Name, Case number and phone number" when you get the inevitable recording.  It's a phishing scam ..  If they actually had a case against you, they could certainly look up your name based on the case number!   They just want to get a list of names and numbers to call back with more convincing sounding threats.  Then they probably offer a chance to settle the imaginary problem  (for some nice fee of course).

I got a call from Belleview, FL 352-653-1455.
The message left In my voicemail was:  "This confidential message is to inform you that you have a legal matter pending to be filed against you within the next 24 hours.  To make your statement against this claim, which could result in garnishment or civil judgment, you must call Thomas (Bates or Binks) at (850) 546-6444. Your Case No. is ______ (read in an automated female voice). For immediate assistance, please press 1."  I have no reason to receive a call such as this
