PMG is using another number...844 827-6623...they called and left a VM two days in a row.  First call came up unknown by a guy named Howard Lester.  He claimed that he had papers in my name and ss# "but" if I wanted to talk to someone and settle this matter I should call 844 827-6623.  I didn't call back.  The next day some guy called me from  the 844 827-6623 number left a VM stating that he was from Proficient Mediation Group. He said he had a pending legal claim in my name and ss# and if I didn't call right back to settle this matter, they would have no choice but to send the info to my county for further legal proceedings.  These msgs used to keep me up all night until I talked to the caller and tried to fix it.  Not any more, they prey on you with all sorts of sleazy scare tactics to get what they want if you talk to them.  Before you know it, they have you second guessing yourself if you don't know your rights.

#1, How do they know this is actually my phone number (my name is not stated on my VM msg) and how in the world can someone leave a supposed legal notice via VM?

#2, I paid off all my payday loan debts years ago.  However, I still get these calls every other month or so from a new so-called legal representative threatening me with anything from bad check writing, bank fraud, etc.  At first I used to try to reason with them, tell them I have receipts, sometimes that works.  But, a few try to say that they can STILL prosecute me for bank fraud or bad chk writing if I don't pay.  So...I refuse to reason with them anymore.  I haven't answered any calls from numbers that I don't know and haven't called them back when they leave VM.  No one has tried to serve me papers for court yet and it's been going on for 2 years.  

#3, I spoke to NYS atty general office about this problem because it is getting ridiculous and the way some of these people threaten me is unbelievable.  Atty gen office said that once your name is in the 3rd party collection system, it cycles around every 30 days and I should expect a new caller just like I am receiving now.  The facts are...it is illegal to try to collect on a payday loan from NY residents.  I didn't know this until I contacted the Atty Generals office. Usually the company charges unreal interest charges which are way over the interest cap allowed for NYS.  There are other states that have the same law...look it up on your atty general website.   Most of these callers are not in NYS, (when they do divulge to me where they are located it is usually down south) if in NYS they could be given stiff fines and lose license to operate plus be ordered to pay back every cent to the consumer.  

I paid my loans, not trying to get out of it because I live in NYS, but I refuse to pay them again and again and again.

I received a call and a message firm a Michael Wester whose number is 1-844-827-6623.  He stated there was a legal paper on his desk and he was ready to expedite these papers immediately.  I needed to call this number to discuss it.  I did call and the answering machine stated he was out of the office.  I didn't leave a message or my name.

Omg..so glad i found this. Does anyone know how to get the money back if i paid them? Got the same story...they called saying they were trying to serve me papers for a lawsuit agaibst me concerning fraud...would not go into detail until i called back the 844 number..woud not give an adress for me to pick up said legal documents...JUST PROVIDED info saying they were a law firm..then they say i was being sued by sams club for an old acct (which i DO OWE...but its been in collections for years) already having a rough day i decides to just pay what i owe n get it out of the way..the man said i needed to pay before the end of the month to avoid legal action and a court date was already set for wednesday...he had my Social SS# AND FULL NAME SO I TRUSTED IT WAS A JEGIT FIRM. i gave my CARD number and immediately had a gut instinct i was being scammed..he wanted to charge $639 to pay my "account" off..i asked about payment plans and he stated it needed to be paid ASAP. SO I was put on hold then because i asked for an email and proof.....i receive an email while on hold stating i was being charged to payments of $319.20 and it was a debt collection..along with their name (Proficient Mediation Group LLC),address (New York...i live in florida) and phone numbers. I hung up instead of waiting...went STRAIGHT TO MY BANK WELLS FARGO and was told they could do nothing to get ny money back because 1i gave my card # (even though  i did not authorize a charge) and 2the money was already taken out (even though it said pending in my account). Now Wells fargo tells me that Obrien Wexley took it and they are a legitimate debt collector and my claim is being closed less than 24hours later in THEIR FAVOR! !!!!!!!! They say i need proof this was never applied to me original debtor....sams club.  Wells i called sams,they say my account is closed and has been sold 3times since 2008...the final company i called who holds refuses to send anything saying they havent received money from this fraud company Proficient Mediation Group LLC or the name on the statemeNT Obrien Wexley...so i guess im screwed?????????? How can they do and and how can my bank LET THEM?????
