A completely obnoxious Indian man with an accent so think I could not understand most of what he was trying to say. He was so rude, I just hung up. I blocked the number the second time he called.

This IS a legit caller (ANC or AMC) because they KNEW my father's P.O. Box #!!! They needed to verify it with him and when he answered "by mistake" he's 89 years old (told him not to answer any 1-800 or Unknown Name or Unknown Numbers) they actually told him his P.O. Box and wanted to verify it SO that they could tell him it was in lieu if trying to collect a debt he owes from a certain company and when they told him the name of the company SURE ENOUGH it WAS the company he owes money to! So yes he DOES owe this debt and it is a DEBT COLLECTOR!!!! We had already answered this call when they first started calling us last year because we didn't know what it was about. Usually we don't answer any 1-800's but guess what if you call in a prescription with Walmart Pharmacy, they have a 1-800# that calls you back letting you know your prescription has been filled and it's ready for pick up. So see? Sometimes you HAVE to answer certain 1-800 #'s or you'll miss out on important calls such as needing to know when your prescription has been filled. Don't know why Walmart has it set that way for call backs on their refills. Not right! Should just say Walmart Pharmacy on your Caller I.D. when they call. So with this said, sometimes a person picks up on these calls not meaning to or not in the right mind at the time and they have you. But you know, it doesn't matter whether you pick up on the call or not. These morons are STILL going to call NO MATTER WHAT!!! They are harrassers and they KNOW IT!!! It's how they STAY IN BUSINESS believe it or not - some way or another. Guess they think by calling you over and over again it will break you down, make you mad enough that you will WANT and HAVE to give them your info etc... WROOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!! They'd better guess again! I will NEVER answer that call again nor will my father!!!! Tried to block it but you can't because it's a DEBT COLLECTOR!!! So these people who say they haven't any debts like one commenter here - sorry but they're still going to call and try to get SOMETHING out of you - wrong or right. We've tried to live DEBT FREE but it's almost next to impossible this day and time unless you have plenty of money coming in and we don't! :*( So good for those people who are 100% debt free. All of the people I know in my life and there are MANY - ALL have two or more debts and aren't set for life debt free like the one commenter on here. Anyway, just know that if it's not THIS # who's harassing it will be ANOTHER! There's no stopping them. Just don't answer the phone PERIOD! Just have to put up with the constant rings. And hey! Look at it this way - it's a good form of exercise :) lol! Getting up and checking the phone to see who's calling! :) Real annoyance yes but try and think positive and not get so mad. Ignore them and go about your day. Will feel much better. Don't give them the time of day or thought of day! That's what they want. You're the winner in the long run - not them! :) Blessings to ALL and Peace! :)
P.S. - Wish our Government would seriously do something about these kinds of calls. NOT happening! :(  

To Bae: How did you block the number the second time they called? I sure would like to know how you do that. I've heard there's a way but forget the steps. Maybe you can tell us all on here how we go about doing it? I think as soon as you hang up there's a # or two you press quickly and hang up and that's it. Then when they try to call again it will be blocked. Is that right? PLEASE let me know! I would greatly appreciate it. Want to do them ALL that way! :) Thanks and have a blessed day! :)

BTW, got the SAME type of Indian man with an accent too and couldn't hardly understand what he was saying as well. Also very rude and I just hung up on him as well. That was last year some time. This man that called my father this morning was the same as well but just not real rude but forceful in wanting the information and to read the disclaimer about him owing his debt to the company. It was all legit but geez!!!! How beyond harassing and like you said OBNOXIOUS these people are. I've been out of work for over a year now and although I desperately need the money and a job that's the LAST kind of job I'd take on this earth. I care too much about people and couldn't act that way with them money or no money! Guess living in India and other third world countries you HAVE to take ANYTHING and do ANTYHING that comes along that offers money. Sad but true! PLEASE let me know how you block them! Just because a caller knows lots of information - even the actual bill your dad owes - does not make the caller legit.  It's very easy to get boatloads of information on people from hackers, disreputable companies, etc.  I sincerely hope that your dad only pays the original creditor, otherwise, looks like he's been scammed.  (And for any company other than the original creditor calling, you should not pay unless the caller MAILS a debt validation letter showing he owes a debt and that the caller has the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this DV letter is a violation of federal law.)  

As for answering 800 numbers - it's easy enough to leave a voicemail saying the prescription has been filled, so you don't have to actually pick up the phone.

got a call from 855-302-8651 two days in a row now no messages left

I have been getting calls from this number periodically for the last couple of months. I have not been to the doctor for a year plus so I do not owe any medical bills. I have blocked the number now and I have an Iphone. If you want to do the same, bring up the number, select I (info button), scroll to the VERY bottom, and select "BLOCK THIS NUMBER."

I been getting calls from this number the don't leave a messages why they call if is a collection agency the name of the company and number  should appear.

I've been getting a call by this number once a day at noon.The good thing is that I work 3rd shift and sleep past them. The caller kept leaving me blank messages and today I got one with supposed T.V. noise in the background with typing clicks on a keyboard. One of the comments above mentions Cambodia and that reminds me of seeing a news report over a month ago of spam callers leaving blank messages. People would call back with no response but find out on their phone bill that they have been charges 20 dollars. If this is related, write the number down, block the caller and spread the warning to everyone you know.

i don't answer phone calls from strangers, either. but what really got me upset is that this one came up as coming from Cambodia! I have heard that the new scam is for them (overseas scammers) to call the US, and if we answer, we get charged international rates! be careful!

I received a call from 855-302-8651 and they hung up.  I called the number back and it was a collection agency EMCA.  

Keep getting calls in the morning from this phone number. Blocking it now.

Gotten several calls from this number. No messages left  blocked call

I get at least 10 calls a day. if i block them it comes up one number different so it looks like they have several available for them to call from. I answer it and there's nobody is there. They call at all hours of the night and I even got a new number because I can't turn my phone off at night incase of emergency and they still call uugh!

Get this call 10 times a day.

This is so clearly a scam, Multiple international and domestic configurations of the same number calls me multiple times a day seven days a week - starting at 8AM
sometimes it has  a international prefix: 011 855 302 8651
other times it shows up as  +855 302 8652
and of course : (855) 302-8651.  

Problem is until I have a new IPHONE 3GS will not support and IOS with blocking feature.. I just signed up for ATT smart limits to see if I can block the number.  Sadly ATT only lets you enter ###-###-### so I am doubtful it will work. I'm on the FTC do not call list

Would love a better suggestion.  I'm tolerant but this is getting really annoying

Click on the info button next to the number and it will bring up all items you can do with this contact, scroll to the very bottom and click block caller. iPhone makes it very simple.

I have told this number to never call me again yet they will not stop. What can I do?

You can  download a call blocker to your cell if that is what you use. Mr Number is really good for Android (and is free).

If it's a landline, you can purchase a call blocker from Amazon.

They are a medical billing co out of TX. They might have an office in NY also, not sure though about that. Their address in TX is AMCA PO Box 1237 Liberty Hill TX 78642. Their office number is 1-512-515-0065. They use out of country calls to do collections on medical bills that are past due. That might be the reason you cant get who the number belongs to them just by doing a search of the number. I had to do some research to get it.  The number they use for collections is 1-855-302-8651.

Been getting calls also. They NEVER leave a voicemail and we all know legitimate ill collectors most always leave a voicemail.
