Just received a call from this number caller ID as unavailable. No message left. Getting tired of the phone company letting these numbers popup without identification. When I call someone from my landline my name pops up why are these people allowed to call without showing their listing???

Get a call from these people at least once a month. No message left. No name on caller ID just unavailable. Answered a call once. Got a message to call a number but the recording was so short I missed a part of the number & never bothered. If I owe a debt, according to the Feds, the debit collectors must send me a written notice of said debit. Most times they are looking for more info about someone in your family or circle of friends who might owe $$. It's getting old people.

inget a call from this number everyday. They say they are Harris and Harris then give a number so fast you can't write it down then give their hours. Finally I called back, because I have no debt at all. They had no idea why we were being called and our number was attached to several accounts. I've had this number for years...and it's only been under my name. Yet she was spouting off like a dozen names asking me if I was connected, finally I told her to take my number off the list. She spoke to a manager, apologized profusely and said she would remove our number right away...what the heck?!

I got the first call a week ago. Left a message saying Harris & Harris & said they are debt collectors. We don't have debt so I ignored it. Then Today, Sunday, 10:00 am They called and left the same message. They gave their hours which did NOT included Sunday so this was a robo call.

First, if they left a message a week ago, they are required by law to send you a letter postmarked within 5 days of that call.  The letter should contain this:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

At which time if and when you receive it you need to do this:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.
