I called this number today and the person I talked with told me it is not legit. I was told not to cash it. Let me know what you find out please.

Yes, I called and that's what they asked me also. Then they asked for numbers at the bottom the amount the numbers on the top right. I was also told not to cash it. I feelings were not good about it anyhow.

Rec'd call from merchant I sent check to on April 24, 2019. Saying payee must refer to maker. Called bank, check was paid April 29, 2019. Called 855-739-0856 was told calls not being accepted at this time.  Something doesn't sound right

Received a $300 check from Wayne County Treasurer (Detroit, MI) in a Tax Statement letter from the County Treasurer, stating there are no outstanding taxes due, but check had the 855-739-0856 (which got me to this link) and a pymnt processing ctr in Chicago for Northern Trust. Check is made out to Wayne Cty Treasurer with statement at top to "Please post this payment for our mutual customer"  Have NO IDEA what this means. Calling Eric Sabree's office on Monday.  Seems phishy & scam possibility considering the phone # and above-related stories.

The check is probably legitimate, most likely generated from Bank of America online Bill Payment system.  I just received one that went to my credit union- a closed account by mistake, it was intended for the payee above.  The upper left should have the sender's information.

No one should be relying on what others say here towards it being legitimate, since scammers who pull these scams often come to shill about how it is legitimate. Speculating that it is "probably legitimate" to a post 7 years old, has got to be one of the worse shill lines I have read in a long time. How could you even make such a speculation without viewing the check to determine if it could be a counterfeit or not?
Best thing anyone can do is call the Bank  from a published number and find out if it is in fact legitimate.

This is a complete scam that is supposed to be a check verification center they’re trying to get personal information from her I got myself into a world of you know what cashing a check that has their phone number on the check with northern trust at the bottom when in fact that number is answered by Bank of America!

Scam do not deposit!

Our bank accepted the check thru the drive thru ATM.  It said my check would credit to my account on May 11.  Thankfully, my business partner called Bank of America and they said it was a scam check. I filed a police report the next day.  These scammers are really active in Florida, the over 60 crowd.  Anyone can fall for it, though.  Just know one thing, no one sends just a check.  There is usually a perforated portion that you cut off to keep for your records explain exactly what the check is for...please beware.

My husband has recv'd 3 of these checks for $100 each. They say they are from Wells Fargo??? We don't have any WF accounts and cannot find a client to reconcile the payment.

You could visit the Wells Fargo site & find their Contact Us page then ask them about the checks.

Very suspicious at best.  Received a check addressed to Duke Energy with our Cary, NC home address.  In upper left corner is our name and home address.  No paperwork or explanation.

It has to be a scam.

Received a check for loan I took out for granddaughter, she has one bank and I another. Never set up any kind of withdrawal from Well Fargo. Called number , said they could cancel check, went to my bank and they told me not possible. Don't no who this number belongs to but I will find ou . BEWARE OF 866 739 0856 DO NOT CASS THE CHECK!

I received a check for a $1000 paid the order of my employer. One person said the number is for BofA yet the very same number on my check is for Wells Fargo. It’s clearly fraudulent as it appears as if I Am issuing a check to my employer
