got a call for the same person LAQUISHA WHITE!!! (PAY YOUR DAMN BILLS!) but whenever it asked to press 2 if you are not this person it would just disconnect and then i'd get the same call again a few days later. so today got fed up and pressed 1 (if you are laquisha white) and told the person on the other line that i'm not this person and she prob disconnected her # and i picked it up when i signed up for a new phone line. they said they would remove my number within 24 hours so we shall see....

Southwest Credit Systems frequently dials debtors cell phones using an automated dialer. This is a direct violation of the TCPA laws and would be easy to prove with a simple discovery request once you have been called. They blatantly disregard this law and choose not to flag numbers as cell phones. They need to be stopped.

This number has called me several times looking for my dad. It's always an automated machine asking him to call this number. I called my dad & let him know. He called them, & they didn't read him his mini miranda. He called back wanting to get info to take them to court, & the rep just kept arguing with him saying it didn't matter, & that he had a debt he needed to pay. Eventually, the rep hung up on him. it didn't phase him one bit that they would be sued.
But we are taking them to court.

a guy called saying he was with southwest credit. I asked for his name and he gave me his first name only. I had to ask for his last name. Cedrick  Swint. He didn't give me a reference number. I personally think this was a scam. I had to cask for the number to call back. and this is the number he gave me. I was taking a message and every bit of info I had to ask him for it.

I get these calls all the time even though I'm on the "do not call list". They ask for a person who I do not know, has never lived here. I have had my phone number for over 2 years, so I have no idea what information they are using. I pay my bills. I have NO debt. It is not me they are looking for, yet they continue to call. They once called looking for my dead beat ex-husband who I divorced in 1987 and have not spoken to since!!!!! I have remarried and moved no less than 5 times (military) since then. I just don't get how they get their info.

Hey, J ... does that stand for [***]? I have no debt. These are scammers, plain and simple. The only "loser" is you making an assumption that these people are legitimate in any way, shape or form. They find elderly and vulnerable people by making "blind" calls, and then they get the poor people to give them credit card information, etc., and then they steal them blind. I am reporting this number to the FCC (not that I think it will do any good). They are crooks. As soon as the FCC does anything with this number, they simply ditch the cell phone and switch to another number and keep on scamming people.

Those in here who - in response to a call from ANY debt collector and then say "pay your debt "idiot" or such things have NO understanding of debt collection. First of all - the debt collector has an obligation to validate or verify to you (the debtor) that they ARE WHO THEY SAY THEY ARE and that they are legally pursuing payment. That voice on the other end could be ANYBODY. I paid a large debt sum to an agency and found out that the check was cashed and the debt remained - they STOLE my payment. I learned that you NEVER assume those calls are legitimate. You need to begin a paper trail to protect yourself.

Second - even if you pay that debt - you report in one or more of the 3 credit bureaus may not be cleared - hence you did your part and still have bad credit. it is imperative to take charge of the process and NOT be intimidated into just paying it to get the calls to stop!

Step one is to get their mailing address. According to FDCPA Section 809(b), 15 U.S.C. § 1692g(b), if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the 30-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector. This will stop the calls for the time being.

When you receive the letter of "Debt Validation" the next step is to send a followup letter called "Pay for Delete". In this letter you first attempt to settle for less. Also in this letter is the stupulation that there will be NO settlement - even for the full debt - if they do not agree to delete any and all information submitted to any credit bureau onthis matter. THIS IS MANDATORY less you end up paying them and still maintaing bad credit report information that will be very difficult to remove.

I recommend that if the debt is significant you work with someone who knows the ropes if you need to settle for a fraction of the amount due.  In this case I have a simple $106.00 bill due for ATT. I will NOT pay it until I am certain that it will be removed from my reports. Fool me once....... you know the rest!

Finally - if the person on the other end tries to talk over you - provide 2 or 3 warnings that if it continues you will hang up and consider them harrassing you - Then do so -because they WILL dare you to do it. SOuthwest has little courtesy in their approach - I would have paid thi bill weeks ago but they evoked a "piss on you" attitude from me - so let 'em rot a while.

Wife called me because SWCredit called.  I called them back and they couldn't find any record of me by phone number or address.  Are they really trying to call me?  Collection agencies are 99% fraud anyway.
