I received the same call to both my home phone and cell phone.  They said they are aware that my internet is not behaving as fast as it should be and they would need to send a technician out to fix the problem.  I said I would call back and then looked this up.  There was also a message on my home phone.

Robo call from "comcast" said I have an open work order and they would like to schedule a service call to test the equipment in my home and this would be at no charge to me. They left me a message on 08/15, 08/16 and 08/31. I did have Comcast to my home at the beginning of the month and I spent time on with their "support" lines with an middle eastern folks. Maybe their "support" lines are being hacked and information stolen. I thought it was possibly legit at first listening to the message, but then I realized we did get all of our issues resolved and no way were they coming into my home for another "check" of my cable equipment.

I got a call from this number too.Guy said he was from comcast and wanted to fix a internet speed issue. I told him I would call Comcast and hung up. Comcast gave me the number for there Customer Security Assurance Department. They checked my account and found no issue and took a report.  888-565-4329

Have rec'd messages ever since I installed a new modem, only within last couple of days they ID'ed themselves as from COMCAST. Called 1-800-COMCAST and the service rep says there is an open order on my account going back a few weeks.  Based on other postings here, not sure if this is real or not.

I have received at least two calls a week for the last six weeks from this number. Sometimes it's automated and sometimes it's a person with a thick accent. Always about Comcast detecting issues with my equipment and they want to check it thru the computer/ or phone or its to have a tech come to check it. Thing is my wifi does cut out a lot and this number comes up as Comcast on caller ID. It's frustrating. I have not returned their calls.

ANY number or name can appear on your ID. Try a call blocker/app, or let your phone ring clear through if you can do it. You want these guys to waste their time by not being there at all (even with answering device), if you can do it.

I have been receiving calls from this number every day for the last week or so, sometimes they call twice a day, just recently they have been saying they are comcast, in their recorded message.  This is kinda scary to think that they are trying to scam us using our info from Comcast. I will call Comcast in the morning

Thanks for this post. I just got this call and knew it was a scam because I just adjusted my speed. I told him this wasn't a good time and hung up. Scammers everywhere. I just can't figure out how they know you have Comcast and your last name.

Another scam report... although the callers never identified themselves as being associated with Comcast, they have left two prerecorded VMs stating that I have some "issues with your internet speed"... having recently signed up with Xfinity, I suspect that there is some leaks in their customer database. The calls started only a few days after starting with the service!

Same message as Scam Stopper, with US voice.  5 calls in 3 days.  It smelled like a scam so I didn't answer, but glad that others have checked it out with Comcast and verified my suspicions.

I got two calls from this number today, each accompanied with an automated voicemail stating that something was wrong with my equipment. I recently moved into an apartment and signed up for internet service with Xfinity, so I was surprised about getting a call like that when I just got my modem. My internet speed has been just fine, so I Googled the number to confirm my suspicions: definitely a scam.

Got weird phone call saying he needed to address my Comcast modem. Called me 6 times in the last week, this time I answered because I was annoyed. I immediately tried to test him to see if it was a scam like asking what address' wifi he was referring to.  He said he needed to send someone to my home immediately to test my modem- which I said hell no to because he told me he could not have them email me to send up a time.

Hey, so I just received a call from this number. My buddy from the last 10 years who works at Comcast found the call record from the 855.873.6941, and the call was logged in their system. It seems legit. To the story...

Super nice gentleman named Samuel called asking me to check on my modem, tighten the end on the modem and then the wall. He didn't ask for my name, information, Comcast Acct number, anything like that (which is my first red flag alarm for calls like these). I had just switched to a higher internet speed 4-5 days ago, so I wasn't surprised by the call. They saw some weird signals in my modem connection and wanted to send a tech out to check the premises for possible electrical damages, I said sure but then thought twice, came to this site, and saw some of the responses.

I texted my buddy to check it out with a link to this web page and called the number back that Samuel provided. Whether it was legit or not, I have a three week old boy who hasn't been vaccinated yet, we are moving into flu season, and, since it wasn't an immediate concern, I canceled the visit.

I called, spoke with a different rep, explained the story with my son, he responded super happy, authentic, and was a real person (I'm in sales and am on the phone literally all day for the last 6 years, so I've gotten pretty good with judging emotion via phone calls). Canceled appt, no problem.

Then my friend at Comcast texted me back, saying the call was logged, call back number legit, and my account record was updated with the story I just typed.

I'll monitor my internet over the next month or so to see if there are changes, but I would recommend taking down their callback number and rep name, call Comcast main line, check with them, and make your own decision from there.

Either it's legit or quite possibly the most elaborate scam that is literally hacked into Comcast's own customer service network. Based on the evidence, it seems legit.
