- DGThey left a message on my home phone and cell phone to say they were comcast and that my internet speed wasn't working like it should and they wanted to fix it. I called the number back and could hardly undestand the person I was speaking to. I could tell there was another person listening becuase they were breathing heavy into the phone making the other person even harder to hear and understand. I hang up when they wanted to know personal information. I chatted with the real comcast and they said this wasn't their service number. This is a scam, beware!

- Randy replies to Marcia VanOrmanI got a call from this number and set up an appointment. After checking this site, I got suspicious an contacted Comcast on a different number that I had gotten from them last week when I was having issues. That number identified my phone number, gave me the first digits of my home address and asked if I was calling about that address. when I said 'Yes", the computer said, I see that you have an appointment set up tomorrow to have a technician come by between 3-5 pm Is that what you are calling about? Based on that, it seems that this is a legit deal.
- CaseyI get this message on my AT&T mobile phone and Comcast landline every single day:
"Hello I'm calling in regards to your current equipment. Our network monitoring system has identified issues with your Internet speed and we'd like to spend a few minutes working with you to resolve the issue. Please call 855-873-6941 if you need additional assistance. Thank you and have a great day."
I never answer calls from a 1-800 figuring of it is important they will leave a message. From the posts here it seems a scam.- Call type: Scam suspicion

- Sarah| 1 replyI received the same call. I took it. The gal (Indian accent) said they'd detected some issues with our internet speed. She asked me to tighten all the cable connections (to the modem) and cable box. She then ran a 2 minute diagnostic test to see if this changed the speed. It apparently did not, and she said they'd send a tech out. I scheduled the appointment. Immediately after getting off the phone, I was skeptical. So I called Comcast and they verified that this was legitimate and they showed on their system that there was an appointment made for Dec XX at 10am - 12pm. (This was the correct date/time I scheduled the appt.) I looked up the number that I was initially called by 855.873.6941 and found this forum. After reading through all the comments I still felt uneasy.
I had recently been in to the local Comcast store, returning old equipment. While there, I was given a business card of the rep I spoke with. I still had his card and decided to call him directly. (I had met him in person and knew he was legitimately an employee of Comcast.) He reassured me and verified that this was a legitimate call. He explained that a year or so ago Comcast created a new division that checked the cable connections/speed going to customers homes. If the connection was poor, a call would be made to that customer in an attempt to resolve the issue. One of his buddies he worked with went over to this division. So rest assured people, this IS a legitimate call.- Caller: comcast
- Make My DaySame call on caller I.D. - Called it back. Girl answered ( Indian Accent - Usually A Bad Sign ! ). Ran a test and said I needed to have a service tech come over. I declined. After reading your comments,I'm going to do a *63 ( selective call forward ) to a disconnected #. I did do a *57 ( call trace ).

- KraftyHad read this site after a vmail message left earlier today. Second call came in from same 855-873-6941 so I answered. Woman with Indian accent claimed to be from Comcast, asked for me by name - I replied "no one here by that name". Then she asked for my wife by name - I replied "no one here by that name". She claimed that "names are jumbled in our system", then tried to verify again our names. I said again "no one here by that name". She started to end the call and I said "funny, we're not a Comcast customer either". She actually said "we must have made a mistake" and "have a nice day" as she hung up.

- E. S.Called a member in my household claiming to be Comcast, stated there was something wrong with the service of their cell phone (which there obviously wasn't or they wouldn't have been able to have that phone call). Family member stated that they were someone else to see what the callers response was. They still kept trying to get information from him even though he said he was a different person. Gave him a different callback number than where they called from too.

- AustonGot a call claiming to be Comcast about an internet performance issue and they wanted to send a technician free of cost. I told them I was busy and would call them back and they wanted to make sure i called them back directly at this number. I thought it was fishy from the get go as I signed up for Comcast's do not call, or knock lists... I'm soooo glad Comcast is the sole internet provider in my area... not.

- Don't trust the number| 1 replyThis is a scam. They are third party comcast installers. They drive around looking for weak signals then call you from their call center. They are sub contractors of comcast so they can access your account to schedule appointments. That is why it shows up on your account. The more jobs they get the more they can charge comcast and the more your bill goes up. They are also not vetted by comcast hiring practices so you have no idea who is showing up at your house. He could be a bad person. Do not call this number back. I am working with comcast's security and fraud department to try and catch these people. Also if you give them access to your router and modem, everything including looking up your bank account is now available for them. Why do you think they don't charge you. Please do not call these people back. If comcast ever needs to call you they will send you and email or text first or after not getting a hold of you. Third party installers do have access to most of the same information as comcast. Dish Network and Direct tv were having the same problem and it cost their customers millions. Just do yourself a favor and report the number to comcast. The more people that call them the more time will be spent to stop these people. OK rant over. Happy Holidays. LOL

- lane| 1 replyNumber called home phone and landline 5 times in one day. They said they were comcast and Internet is running slow, when it was running perfectly fine. She insisted that a service person needs to come out because the reset signal failed. As she was telling me this, I researched this number, which confirmed my suspicions... scam! I said something I don't want to repeat and hung up.

- JackHad the same experience as the people above. They called daily - sometimes several times a day. Finally answered the phone and the person on the other end was a woman with a thick accent. She wanted to test my modem. I told her not to call again and called Comcast directly. Comcast CONFIRMED IT WAS FROM THEM and there was a problem in my area. I was transferred to the same woman I talked to previously. They tested my modem and stated they could not verify and needed to send a technician. I opted for them not to send a technician and said my internet was working fine. She went on to say that I may experience an outage that would result in loss of service, and continued to pressure me to have a technician come out. I told them not to send a technician and to not bother me with this again.
