    This number left a voice message about my internet speed. I have not called back because my speed has been fine. I also just started this service, and I do not need any add ons at this time. I thought I may be Comcast because the message was by a native English speaker. They have call every day for three days. Then stop for about five. Blocking this number.

    2 calls a day 5 days a week for weeks. Recording and finally answered one. Called comcast tech support said nope not us block the # and report it on some site that didn't exist.  I asked if they wanted the # they called from to investigate it cuz if its not them then someone broke into their database with customers private info (and they were confused as to why I won't validate the last 4 of my ssn as account validation ugh) but tech support didn't seem to care. Staff has a short training period and there's a high turn over rate there. So I shouldn't be surprised nothing is getting done about this other than being told to block the # and report it on non existent non Comcast sites. Id recently upgraded my modem but haven't installed it due to a surgery. So nothing had changed. My kid is very tech savvy and sees nothing wrong with the speed.

    I've received 8 calls from this number in the last week, I just hang up and it never leaves a message- today a message by a robot said it was about my "internet speed". My internet is just fine- it seems like this thread has put my instincts at bay- I also have comcast though and it looks like that is common with the others on this thread, perhaps their clients have been hacked.

    I just got off the phone with Comcast, and it appears that this is a valid proactive service call. The representative could not explain why the number's CID did not display as 'Comcast' or why my AT&T Call Protect app identified it as 'Suspected Spam', but he did verify that there was a note in my account about a proactive service call initiated from their technical service department and gave me the call back number in that record as this 855-873-6941 number. Very suspicious but appears to be legitimate.

    It’s a legit call from Comcast. I didn’t call this number but I called the main customer service number and they verified that I received calls from their system regarding a potential service outage in my area. Not a scam at all.

    Received a call from this number several times. Same as everyone else, claiming to be Comcast and stating my modem was having issues. They called my cell AND landline today. I’m blocking the number.

    I indeed have a thought. Whatever they added to your equipment, probably had a way to copy anything you type on your internet, or track your passwords. Which would explain why it actually slowed your speed. They were hacking your wifi.

Please call 855-873-6941 if you need additional assistance. Funny thing is I just sent back Comcast equipment and now use my own router and modem. They have been calling 4 times a day up until about 1pm PST. I have reported these calls and number to Comcast, not sure they cared even though if you do call the number back it is a recording saying it is Comcast. I called the 1-855 number back and told them to stop calling me, I have reported the number as a fake/fraud to Comcast.

    Got a phone call from this number--didn't recognize it and didn't answer.  No message.  After reading these posts I got to say if this is the same scam I don't have Comcast and with the problems my mom in Fl has with them I never will have them

    Received a couple of calls from this number. Sounded fishy so I did some digging. I called the main Comcast number and they confirmed that nobody was trying to get a hold of me and that it was a scam. I then called the fraudulent number back (on a separate line) and it was a bogus Comcast answering system that routed directly to a 'tech' without any of the prompts that Comcast has.
    They knew my service address, phone number and that I'm using my own modem. I firmly believe that Comcast's system(s) has been hacked and they're using the information to try and tap into user's modems to get personal info.

    Yes I got the calls also - but agreed to the service appointment. I am a dufus.
    So - what is their motive? What is the scam?
    I do not expect to see them arrive.

    Contact Comcast at a known number (such as on your bill or their website) and ask them if they have an appointment scheduled for you.

    I got a call from this number also claiming to be from Comcast. Note that I have 20 years of IT (tech) experience. I asked them to prove they are Comcast and they provided my address and the last 4 numbers of my Comcast account.  She said there was an issue with my internet service although I had not experienced any and didn't report any. (My TV service was acting up recently and I insisted that they send a new box which they did. The person on the phone also knew this information without me telling them, I asked.)

    They scheduled a visit for 2 days later. Today I felt a little suspicious about it so I google the phone number and found this page. I then opened a live chat with Comcast online and the chat rep confirmed the Comcast tech visit and the reason.

    I decided to cancel the visit anyway. This isn't a scam but I don't need the visit. I am using a personally purchased, non-Comcast modem so there is nothing in my house other than my modem and their TV box.

    Another unknown phone call replies to another skeptic
    Same thing happened to me as well called comcast immediately after I got off the phone with a guy who "said" he was an employee and they reassured what I thought . I figured it seemed fishy after he gave me a number to troubleshoot the internet speed after he mention sending a technician for the next day. Thank you guys for having posted you encounters and helping me reassure my suspicions.
