How the f can the owner of number not have an obviously guilty consequence, who the f do i contact to press charges, who owns this number and who gave it to them and allows then to keep it.

I knew it! I got the same call but didn't call it after listening to the message twice. Usually when there is a fraud alert on a credit card, a live person calls!

Same call I have no master card

Message said it was for Barclays World MasterCard, which I do not have, and the call came in on my cell phone. Key pointers: when there is fraud activity, the credit card companies usually call live. Also, the message said a hold "may" have been placed on the card. That's bogus too. If there is fraudulent activity on your credit card, the company shuts it down immediately. I didn't bother to call the number back and then I checked on here and saw there must have been a phone blast just now.

I have been getting calls from this number all day. Funny thing is I have no Barclay cards nor have I ever. A red Flag for me was the only way to go further in their system is to type your credit card number. Shouldn't they know it if they are calling me?  Shouldn't "0" be an option to reach someone if you actually lost your card?   Now I just don't know how to make the calls stop. glad to see I am not the only one I can rest now.

This is a scam and you should contact your card and get a re-issue for wht ever card.  It is going to people via text, calls and emails. Barclay has NO #s starting with an 855.

This is a scam. I received this call, fortunately I didn't answer, they left a message stating that my Barclaycard card would have a hold till I verified it with them. I called the number on the back of my card and the Representative told me that there is no security flag or any hold on my account. When I told them I was called from an 855 number they told me it was a scam and not to reply. Hopefully someone sees this before responding to the Scam!

Missed call from 1-855-956-0445. Look suspicious so I deleted from my cell phone log.

First sign that it's BS is when you call back they ask you to punch in your card number. F that [***]. Only trust the number on the back of your card.

Call your bank ASAP to cancel your card, I made the same mistake you did so I called my bank to see if there was a hold on my card as the message had said. There wasn't, so I told my bank to cancel the card and send me a new one

I got a call from this number as well but didn't answer. Listened to the voicemail, which seemed believable, and I was alerted about a fraudulent activity on my Barclaycard World Mastercard... which I don't have. This was a mistake or bad news. Someone here posted that in the event of fraudulent activity banks usually have people call as opposed to recorded messages. I didn't think of that. The first thing I thought of was that I could have been victim of ID theft and someone had opened an account under my name (although, why use my number?)... I thought it was all very weird when I called back and couldn't reach anyone to talk to. I checked my Experian Credit Report (I am a member) and I didn't see any inquiries for new cards, so ID theft seemed unlikely. I went to Barclaycard website and tried calling their general number (888-232-0780) but in order to talk to anyone one must enter their account number or social security number. Since I don't hold an account I did enter my social but no account was linked to it. I was relieved. In retrospect, I don't believe entering the full social security number is a good idea, so I hope that the number I called (888-232-0780) is actually a legitimate Barclaycard number!

You should call ur credit card company that u entered the number and have them close ur account and issue u a new number

Same here. But I entered my MC #. When I realized it was a prank I called my MC company and asked them to close my account and issue me a new card to be safe

I also got a call on my cell yesterday (08/30) from the same number....the message was prompting me to "press 1" and then asked me to enter my credit card number....if you call them back at the 855 number, you would be given the same option... I think they are tricking you to give them your account number....Fraud Fraud!  

I got two calls from them and did call back from my cell and stupidly entered my MasterCard number. They say that there is no such number so enter it again, and on and on. Called my Mastercard company and cancelled my card and getting another one. But there had been no new charges. You would think that there would be several if they had the number but they would need the expiration date and CID on order to charge so why do it?  It makes no sense for all of this effort on their part.

These are criminals phishing for your credit card number...Don't respond to these [***]..!

Just got the same call and had the same experience.

I also got this call.  Same thing, called the number and they wanted my CC number.  I don't have a card with Barclay.  I also tried to call with my land line but they said the number was not working, but it was able to go through on my cell phone.  

Call on cell phone. Requested I call them regarding fraudulent activity on my barclay master card.  I do not have this card.  I did not return call.

Got a voicemail asking to call back about fraud in my Barclay MC. I don't have one...
