Scam, the people who say it isn't a scam are either the ones blindly giving up their personal information (I hope not because you people need to get your head checked if you are) or they are the people who are working for this scam artist.

Yaya is right, collection agencies, legit legal ones, do not act mysterious nor do they insist on not leaving messages (hello people, this so called company has called me about 30 times this week and LEFT NO MESSAGES!). People people people...they want you to call them back, that is why they leave a message if they are legit with VALID information and that is why you never blindly pay anything over the phone to strangers! You insist on valid documentation to be presented first...goodness! People, don't just blindly give some [***] money calling you demanding it?!

They call all the time, they are a scam, do not trust them, do not talk to them or give them any information!

This is Citi Card Credit Card . . . when you are late . . .it just happened to me

I want them to stop calling me.   No company just area calling from, these calls are a pain in the neck.

Yes this is a legit number. You are on a dialer system when you go 5 days past due and it WILL keep calling and calling and calling until they reach you.

They put a lot of money into collections.

I have been getting a phone call (automated taped) from this number 859-283-8071 every morning at 8:02 a.m. for the last week and one half.  We do not have a citibank card; in fact, we owe no money on any of our credit cards.  We are also on the "do not call" list.  I have just filed a complaint regarding this number.  Why has it been allowed to continue so long?

I have been receiving calls from this number every morning at 8:02 a.m.  This has been happening every day for a week and a half.  We do not nor have we ever had a Citi Card and we have never had any outstanding debts.  Today I have filed a complaint with the "do not call" registry.  It looks like this has been going on for several years - WHY?  Is anyone out there monitoring this kind of fraud and harrassment?

They are not a scam. They are third party that numerous credit card companies use to either collect or advise that you are late.  In some cases you will get a call from them and from issueing credit card company. Asking for the last four the last four digits of SS# is a common practice for all bank and CC card companies.

However, if you do not trust caller.  Just call the number on the back of the card to check if there is a problem.

I have received a rediculous amount of calls from (859) 283-8071 and I do not have any accounts with CitiBank nor have I ever done business with them.  Explain that as not being a scam.  This MUST be phishing.

Relentless phone calls without leaving a single voicemail. Why doesn't someone shut these guys down?

It actually is citibank I think. I waited and didn't type any numbers in and they forwarded me to an actual person. When I reached a person they just asked for the phone number. I gave it and they new the name of the person who has a citi card (even though I said no one here did) and told me she was late on payments. So you may want to just call back and wait until they connect you to someone because it could actually be important. Just fyi =)

This is a legitimate number from either Citicard; AT&T Universal Card or another credit card. They were calling to remind me of a payment that was a few days overdue and I'm glad they did-computer glitch fouled up my payment; so this call saved me fees.

they call, they hang up.  repeatedly.  Once in a while they claim to be citibank.

its not a scam...its for citicard universal or at&t...they call about 5 days after you are late to make a payment by phone

859-283-8071 Just today 12 calls in less than 10 hours so far. Never the first message! You don't identify yourself and I don't call back.

I get calls from this number numerous times a day and I am tired of them.  They need to stop!!

I don't think this is a scam. It's very irritating, but I get these calls any time I am late on my bill. I pay the bill online and the calls stop. I have read a lot of posts on here from people who think it is a scam, but the only reasons given were either that they did not get an answer right away, that the person on the other end hung up, or that the caller tried to verify their identity. All of these factors sound like common occurrences with any debt collection agency. I would like to see someone actually post verifiable evidence that this is a scam, like reports from the Better Business bureau, or statements from Cit Bank in regards to this number, or actual evidence that they have really been defrauded in some way other than random paranoia. Don't get me wrong, I don't trust them and don't answer their calls. I most certainly wouldn't give them my information. However, I do believe that Citi Bank legitimately employs their services and has provided your information for them to call you.
