- TROLL ALERT! replies to pay your bill| 7 repliesIgnore this. Obviously a collector troll working for these crooks. DON'T DEAL WITH THESE SCAMMERS - they can't prove any of their claims and most of their threats are, themselves, violations of the FCDPA. Ignore or block their calls. This country is crawling with washed-up lawyers who have "rented out" their law licenses for the use of scammers in a last desperate attempt - obviously doomed to failure - to make something of themselves. Don't fall for their act.
- ALERTING THE REAL TROLL THAT REPLIED replies to TROLL ALERT!| 6 repliesCall me what you may, and if you're going to use something against me at least do your research and get the correct info on your laws and acts, it is the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), this means you have not done your homework and why would a washed up lawyer risk what little they have by renting out what you call law license if that's all they can go by to keep practicing law, there's no common sense in that. You may know those washed up people that do dirty extreme things to get by, since you don't pay your bills and think you can get away with it. Don't try to justify the laws you break, again, call me what you want, but keep in mind that I've paid my bills and don't take money without intending to pay, might as well have stolen it from a bank or another consumer's pockets. If anyone is a crook it's you that replied, whoever you are, I promise you it's no game, claims are proven, info is verified, judgments are executed, wages are garnished, and debts are collected in any way the law permits them to collect based on what state you're in. So go ahead and default contracts and get sued, I'm trying to open eyes to the truth, unlike your reply which only wrongly justifies consumers reasons of not paying......Grow up.
- We're all impressed replies to ALERTING THE REAL TROLL THAT REPLIED| 2 repliesWhat a rant: did the truth touch a nerve? Let's see: we have a single run-on paragraph that's shrill, ungrammatical, incoherent, semi-literate, and - apparently - written by someone too stupid to find the shift key. Hmmm.... Maybe this really is a collector.
- the troll you so proudly labeled replies to We're all impressed| 1 replyno nerve hit, just really dont see the need to use any correct grammar due to the fact that i knew you would be reading it, so i made it as simple as possible for a person as yourself to understand and comprehend with ease. the caps was for you to see clearly how to spell and read the words, being as to that you had difficulty mispelling an abbreviated form of the formal name of the act you referenced. oh and by the way, last i checked the thread topic is of the nature of the calls from the toll free number, and not english grammar. if pointing out grammatical errors in my reply is the best arguementative response you had to come back with, i understand that you had to try, but honestly you had and have no other way of debating the reply i gave you prior to this one. so yea, try again, or better yet, just stop trying to talk down on anyone from now on, really it doesnt work for you, its not your thing or strengths. honestly, just quit with your one sentence recent reply post, its all you got to say you tried.
- randomguyI received a call from Nicole, she left a very nasty message about how I need to get invovled and that I should be very aware of what is going to happen to me if I don't....She also mentioned that my property was at risk or some bullcrap like that...Never have I received a call like this, very weird and dumb...these people need to kill themsleves...

- needhelpsomeone from the law office of Sydney Mikell called my sister on her cellphone and asked for me. He wouldn't give any information. Within minutes my brother got a message from the same man, stating my address and assuming that my brother was my father. Luckily I was visiting my sister when all of this went down. It doesn't sound right.

- Ignore the above replies to deleted postAnother plant by Mickell's people. Just ignore them.
- Ignore this, too replies to deleted postYet another blurb from sleazebag Mickell. Don't fall for it.
- Still more to be ignored replies to deleted postAnother troll everyone can ignore. Must be a slow day at the Mickell "law" office. Maybe they'll use some of that extra time to learn how to spell and punctuate.
- soo confussed| 1 replyI don't know what to make of any of this. I can't tell weather this is a scam or not. I am becoming a victim. I have been called twice already by these people from Sidney Mickell and I just can't get any cold hard facts on them except that they reside in California. Why would they do this to those who are already broke? It isn't like we meant to fall on our faces. People like these force those who are already depressed to consider suicide. This just isnt fair.

- Darth replies to soo confussedIf they were legitimate, you would receive validation of claims IN WRITING. If all they can do is hassle you by phone, it is because they're scammers and trying to induce panic and hysteria by making groundless threats. Don't fall for it. Ignore them, block them, laugh at them, but don't let them get to you. Mickell staffers, mostly the washed-up and otherwise unemployable, regularly place fake entries on this site in an attempt to make themselves look legitimate. Be aware of that. They're lowlife debt collectors and not very good ones, and all they'll do is threaten.
- ms smithI got a call from Luis Reyes at the Law Offices of Sidney Michaels. He left a message on my cell phone stating that he had legal matters to speak to me about and several questions regarding my street address (street name only). He stated it was imperative that I return his call at 866-204-3786. It makes no sense to me because I have no unpaid debts and I don't own any property.

- Unhappy Son| 1 replyMy Father died this past summer and my Aunt & Uncle, whom he briefly worked for, have received at least two phone calls from the "Law Office of Sidney Mickell" about a "sensitive matter."
I was just informed today, in the middle of December, that they had been getting these calls from a guy named Tim Collins since my Dad passed away.
All I know is that my Father did, in fact, have a large amount of debt when he passed, so my guess is that these people are with a "heavy-handed" type of collection agency who use threats & harassment to get money out of people's friends and family.
I called back the 866 number but luckily didn't leave a number or a message, I wouldn't have even called if I would have read the posts on this page first.
You may notice that the "Law Office of Sidney Mickell" doesn't have a webpage or anything (that I could find), which makes the whole thing all the more suspicious. I feel like any respectable law office would have a webpage or some kind of internet correspondence.- Caller: The Law Office of Sidney Mickell
- Been on both sides of collectionsI received a call from a 909-568-0750 this morning. The ID read "Law offices of" so I did the natural thing and did not answer. I don't answer calls that I do not know. I used do in-house collections for a company and know a little about the older rules of collection. Ethical behavior toward our clients was a priority. Not everyone is out to "steal" from companies. Most just fall into hard times and need help or someone willing to work with them.
My suggestion to anyone receiving these type of calls is to either ignore them and wait for a letter or talk to them. If you choose to talk to them, get all the information you possibly can, company name, toll free & direct numbers, a contact name, the address they want payment sent to, and and the name, address, phone #, and account number of the company for which they are attemtping to collect the debt. Once you have this information, contact the original company or the BBB. You could also send a registered letter requesting proof of the debt or report them to the government for possible unfair collection acts. To the best of my knowledge, which may be out dated, no collector can threaten you in any way or with any action that they do not follow up. Also, there can be no legal judgments without you being served and appearing in court first.
If the calls come to you for another party, check with your phone company or search government web pages for laws regarding the removal of your number from their files. In the old days, if anyone including the debtor told us not to call them again, we could not contact them by phone again.
I am not connected in anyway with these companies other than getting called myself. I suck at spelling so overlook any mistakes. Just thought I would share what info I could that may help. Remember, you have the legal right to dispute any debt in writing and the collector must provide you with proof that you owe it.- Caller: Law Office of Wilfred E. Briesemeister
- Becca| 1 replySomeone named Sergio called and said it was imparative he speak with myself or my husband about a man named Robert Ray. He said it was urgent that lines of discussion between Mr. Ray and us begin immediately. He said they understood Mr. Ray lived with us. Not bloody likely since the only man I have ever known by that name has been dead for 10 years, and was an old boyfriend's father from high school! My husbans is an attorney so we are filing with the State Attorney General's office after reading these reports about this number and business.

- C| 2 repliesHave recieved multiple calls from this number(which when they call it is a automated message to call back the 866 number). Spoken with "Sergio" at least twice upon calling back.
Short story is this: I have been on a debt consolidation plan for 2 years, fell on hard times about 6 months ago and missed 2 payments and was dropped from the plan. I have been working to get back on the plan since finding a new job and getting back on track.
While in contact with these "Law Offices" I have also been in constant contact with my other creditors as well as my consumer credit counselor with CareOne(who I may add was rated by top consumer agencies as the #1 debt consolidation in the country a few years back when I began this plan). I was instructed to have the "Law Offices" (who's number appears to be one and the same as what has been listed under my Providian account for the past 2 years according to CareOne by the way) mail me a hard copy statement of the balance on my account to my current mailing address. I have confirmed this multiple times with CareOne, AND with the "Law Offices" of whomever sidney or wilber or whatever...*sigh* This began in August of 2007, It's January 08. Still have not recieved any of the requested paperwork/statements. Have been threatened more than once with pending legal action and continue to recieve sporadic once or twice monthly calls from these people.
Is this a grown up game of the the cat came back?! I am formally disgusted with the lack of attention to detail this supposed law office has and the refusal to co-operate with me to settle this or any debts and have since instructed them to go directly through the legal department of CareOne who shall from here-on-in represent me in any legal debt dispute.
Best of luck to anyone else who's phone number finds itself on the calling list of these people.
Also I would like to respond to anyone who may read this that may THINK that just because a person has a debt that they owe and are not able to pay at this time, or a consumer who is avoiding collections calls is a crook...
Think before you speak. Many young people are taken advantage of by creditors who KNOW they are burying these people in debt beyond their control for the next 20 years of their lives, then they expect to be repaid in FULL at a moments notice because what? Suddenly you lose your job, or your spouse dies, or a child or yourself becomes vitally ill and you're overcome with medical debt and you miss a few payments here and there. Next thing you know you're in collections and have [***] calling you all hours of the day and night attempting to get every last dime out of you?
Yes, cause that person is a crook and should just go strait to jail...right. These collections people want their money, they don't care what the circumstances are surrounding anyone's fall into tremendous debt...for all they care you're living in a box by the freeway somewhere wondering if you're gonna panhandle enough for busfare to the temp agency to hopefully find a new job on monday, and if you'll manage to get in line early enough sunday to get a shower at the local homeless shelter...and all the while you're keeping your ears and eyes peeled for the cops so you don't get arrested for tresspassing or some idiocy....
lets all think about that next time we start to call someone a crook.- Caller: law offices of sidney michael

- Been on Both Sides of Collections replies to CI totally agree with your post. People should think before they speak. If a person has never fallen on hard times, they don't know what the rest of us go through.
It took me 10 years to build a wonderful credit score. I qualified for low interest rates, leases, and was pre-approved for those hard to get credit cards. Then I got divorced and lost over 60% of household income. The ex wouldn't pay because almost everything was in my name (big mistake) and within 3 months my credit was down the toilet. Everyone wanted their money now and I couldn't afford it all. The additional stress was almost enough to push me over the edge.
You are right. Companies do take advantage of young people and most don't care what happened when they attempt to collect a debt. We are not all crooks and are not always in control of the circumstance that causes us to miss payments. - CAfter doing my own research, I have saught my own legal counsel in this matter. The Law offices of Wilfred E. Briesemeister or Sydney Mikell have violated more than one law regarding my debt under the Fair Debt Collection Act.
NO threats can be made of legal action that does not intend to be taken. When I was threatened with legal action within weeks of the September phone call, and it is now january 08...i doubt that they're legally taking action.
plan to follow through with this to the full extent of the law and preserve my rights.
