I got a call from Mr Gonzalez who left me a voicemail on my cell. His voice was very unclear (more like holding the handset 2 feet away). He said hes calling from the Law Offices of Sidney Mickell and had an important matter to discuss about my (street name) address. He didnt specify my house number. He left me a number 1-866-204-3786 to call back. At first i thought it was my buddies trying to get back at me for messing with them.

I did call this number out of curiosity and requested to talk to Mr Gonzalez. He said I owed them ### $ and i was like, i owed some credit card that much but not that much. I said let me check my credit report and get back to you. I did call him back requesting an email or fax about statement and asked my options. I was given three options.
1. Pay in full
2. Settle to an amount agreed by their client
3. Pay 1/3rd and pay the rest in monthly installments agreed by them or something
They did send me an email that was written in a simple RichText format(a better version of .doc format). It had a signature of one of the managers. Heres the funny part. It was not on a formal letterhead or any of that sort and neither it had a real signature & to top it all it was sent from an AOL email address. Iam not saying that they could be illegit or something, but this was the first flag.

The next morning I got got a call from 909-568-0750(also mentioned in the letterhead) at early morning hours (after 9am) and again at 12 or so. The funny thing is that when i called back, Ho La, it was Mr Gonzalez. I said iam busy at the moment, will call him  back.
Heres the catch. the letter head had a California address and supposedly I was talking someone in CA.
Correct me If iam wrong folks, when do lawyers in CA wake up and open their offices at 6:00 am or so, if its like 9:00am here in East Coast. Second Flag.

Then I looked up this site and read crap load of complaints against them. So i decided to narrate my own story. As of now, iam trying to settle and work with them(they are not that bitchy, more like Psychology Professionals who are really good at talking the talk and walking the walk).
I did.....
1. call up my original creditor and asked them to fax me an account summary. The account was recently closed off by the original credit and sold off to a collections agency named XYZ in the last month. I have their 1-800 number.
2. Gonna settle with them the disputed amount.
3. Ask them to send me a registered letter or something on a formal letterhead about the debt i owe them and i will only take action upon receiving the letter hereon.(common I cant just give them my personal info. just like that. I need some proof)
4. I have read the complaints and found a lot of stuff about them and their alleged violations. Iam too poor to get into their dirty game, but for some folks like you, heres a PDF of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act

I have been honest about my case and iam not a marketing guy doing dirty work for someone. Iam real and iam a fool for letting these idiots dictate me and my credit.

Received a call today (1/21/08 @1:30p)from a Mr. Kutz from the law office of Sydney Michaels. Asking for my husband's daughter, who does not live with us. He claimed he needed to reach her urgently re: her property (a condo she owns). He would not give any more details than that. He indicated that he got our phone number via public record. We took his name and number and said we would pass on the message. After googling the number and reading the posting, we will warn her to be on the lookout for more calls like this. BEWARE!!!!

called stating that they were looking for my sister, Tina, which I do not have.  They questioned me as if I  was Tina and lying about my real name.  They knew my mother's name (but used her previous married name) and my brother's name.  caller provided a name, Aaron Gessel, and stated that he was with the law offices of Sid Mickell and provided  the number 866-204-3786 ext. 225.  He would not say definitively what the purpose of his call was but stated that it was a "legal matter."  The caller knew details of my maiden name (which I haven't used in 16 years), my mother's name and previous married name (which she has not used in 14 years).  They knew my mother's old address, etc.  I called back to confirm that the office was "legit" and spoke with the same person who stated that "he believed that I did not have a sister named Tina and that he knew which family he needed to contact next".

I just got the sheriff sent to my house...after talking to a rep there on a Judgment...which i just blew off...the next day the sheriff came to my house for a debtor exam ..... my court date is next week...what do i do!! some one help will they put a warrant for my arrest if i dont show up???

the sheriff said i would but i think he might just try to scare me....which he did!!

Nice try, troll.  Now go collect your fee from Sidney.  Anyone reading all the complaints on this site knows "Mickell" is a scavenger, lowlife operation that will lie like hell to get their way.  Anyone getting calls from these people should ignore them.  They're not going to do anything except harass and threaten because they're not capable of anything else.

Thats funny, I couldnt get a sheriff to show up at my house the next day even for a bomb threat.

I received a call at my place of work; I did not catch the person's name, but she gave me the number to call back which was 866-204-3786 ext 223.  She went on to say she had been trying to get a hold of me at a number that was not even mine.  She tracked me down at work somehow and stated that I owed X amount of money and how I was going to pay.  I first stated that she need not call me at work and she did not listen, asking again how the debt would be settled. I told her I would call after I left work to discuss the matter.  Now that I have read all of these posts, I will be calling back with a little ammunition of my own. She claimed to be calling from a law office, which now I see is a lie.  I looked them up on the Better Business Bureau and they have a rating of F, which obviously is the lowest rating a company can receive.

Just got a call from a "Jackson" somethin or other.  He said he was from the Law Offices of Sidney Michael and needed to let me know "what was goin on here."

Any Ideas?

I just received a call from the Law Office of Sydney Michaels, they knew my name but wanted to talk to my neighbor. The guy said my neighbor 3 doors down had put me down as a reference. They were trying to get in contact with my neighbor and the guy kept saying he didn't know if the phone lines in our area were down but it's urgent he talk with him. He told me that they are working on legal matters together. I told him I don't know that neighbor and I've never talked with that neighbor. He said sometimes people just "look up a phone number of someone who lives on their street and give it as a reference just in case for urgent messages". He still wanted me to take a message down to this guy so I said sure just to get his call back info to check it out. I now see they are one of the shadiest, low life, deceitful, underhanded and manipulative collection jerks I've ever seen. I'm not taking that message down there and doing their dirty work collecting.

left a message on my machine so I called from a different.   THIS GUY WENT BOLISTIC ON ME!!!!
I explained that I am with a debt consolidation program and he was very irrate and threatening me....he said you are a property owner I see here!!!!!! He said "oh so you are refusing to pay"  I said "no I did not say that...didn't you hear me tell you earlier I am in a certain program"  .  THIS S.O.B.   kept yelling and screaming his head off at me....unbelieveable....my debts are being taken care of...I am not refusing to pay anything...how sick of these people to threaten and harrass the way they are...SHAME ON THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, how can anyone work as a debt collector?  All the nasty games they play and lies they tell.  How do you sleep at night?

Second off, my sister got a call from someone at the law office of Sydney Michaels today.  Seemingly concerned about what is going on with my property and that I should know about it so it was important that I call them.  First off, if they did their homework they'd know I don't own my residence and second off, I doubt it's a law office at all.  Haven't received any written correspondence from them and until then, I don't talk to debt collectors. Oh, and the number they left to call was 86-204-3786.

I did find a lawyer in CA by the name of Sydne Squire Michel - #178354 and I wonder if this is the same lawyer.  Interesting because he is listed as working in criminal law.  Niiiice!

oh, and Sydne Michel's works for the City Attorney's office in Redondo Beach.  I'd sure like to know if this is the attorney behind this phone number.  I would think not but seriously, how many of them can there be?  Maybe he's moonlighting?  

I am pretty good at research so I will find you Sydney or Sydne, or whatever your name is.

Just got a message at my work number from a Jeff from the Law Offices of Sidney Michael. He left the call back number of 855-204-3786, ext 222. The caller id number was 909-568-0750 which I did not recognize so I did not answer. His message stated that he needed to speak with me or my husband about "information that you definately will want to know about concerning a developing matter that concerns you". That I needed to call him back today as soon as I got his message. He sounded professional, not angry or harrassing, but that may come later if I call him back. I could hear in the back ground what sounded like he was calling from a collection agency, not an attorney's office. You could hear others talking in the back ground like you do when a telemarketer calls. Naturally I decided to look the law office up on the web and this site is what I found. After reading all these messages I am skeptical about calling them back.

Hey, if these indiviuals have you in a court room, think "NOT" that they will screw you.  Break the law, over turn Statues of limitations, and try to collect what you do "NOIT" owe.

And... Superior Court Judges will support them before you.  Legal and just regardless.  Must be kick backs -- Birds of Feather!

These people are bottom feeding scum and deserve to be treated at such.

If they are debt collects, you owe them nothing, but that, needless to say, won't stop them.

PAY YOUR BILL!!!  I understand we all go through hard times... but the only way to solve lifes adversities is through healthy dialogue!!! This applies to everything from family, relationships, and your Bill Collectors!!! It's absolutely        'chicken-[***]' not screen phone calls... 'REAL PEOPLE' pay their bills and when they can't they exercise common decency, they act like normal human beings, they apologize to the creditor they shafted, they reassure the party they owen that the money will be paid back, and they engage in DIALOGUE to negotiate what's feasible.  If that was a run-on sentence so what! My grammer may be tarnished but my values and principles are not!!! I'm not as polite as Mr. Noble sr.,  and so I leave all you 'KOKO' followers with these words: when you look in the mirror and the reflection is NOT a filthy, weak willed, weak minded, dirty scumbag, then you can smile at yourself for being a REAL PERSON again.  That smile means that you have found your GOD instilled conscience, did the RIGHT THING, and spoke to the people you're indebted to!!!!
