Yes! 1-866232-9017 is definitely a COGECO number. It is for the COLLECTION DEPT. for unpaid balances. They call a few times before disconnecting your phone & internet &/or TV services! I checked my bill to verify the phone #.

Some people don't realize that their caller had already hung up, when no one answers them or they experience dead air! Call centers seem to think that everyone sits by their phone, so they don't let it ring very long, unfortunately!
If, you use COGECO, they list several #s to the right, at the top...on your bill. This is for the COLLECTION DEPT.!

Anyone who receives a phone call or even a pop up on their computer saying your computer is infected...call this number right away....should TOTALLY DISREGARD THOSE WARNINGS & NEVER EVER CALL for anyone to walk you through...etc..
Those are scammers! Nobody is monitoring your computers checking for viruses! AS IF!! Even if COGECO is your internet provider, they most definitely do not monitor your computer for
viruses...simply the usage amount, if you are on a limited amount, like your cell..

Getting calls from this number about my account. I do not have nor have I ever had an account with these people who are not even in the same country. I have never even heard of them.

Several calls. If this is Cogeco Collections dept. then why don’t they leave a message? It’s pretty ridiculous to expect someone to know who it is without leaving one. We don’t answer numbers that start with 800 or 866 or anything resembling that. At the very least put the company name on the caller ID.

They always leave a message for me. it is the collection department and hey leave the message with their office hours and times every-time i don't answer. Check your phone

got call from your credit department.....am making payment of $150.00 by weekend....sorry for interruption but was hospitalized and getting affairs in order....it is to be noted that I intend to cancel my tv in near future...and trying out a local supplier ….will be getting a lot more for my money at $89,95...…...will advise when my next cpp/old age cheque comes in...thank you in advance....

They don't leave message. Call few times day or on weekends.
Unknown caller. Number never appear before in all years had number. Very strange. If it were cogeco it would say cogeco   or would  be local number and cogeco would leave message or computer message . There is no message left. This is not cogeco. In today's would there is spoofing calls ,computer generated ones, never call a number back u don't know. Not safe.,

Just got a call from this number, my bill was due 3 days ago , been with this cable company for over 30 yrs and always pay ,

Considering scammers frequently spoof legitimate phone numbers, there's no guarantee this call was from your cable company.

It was because they called me again, asking when will I be making a payment.
They knew exactly how much I owed

See, you have simply burned yourself.  First, there was absolutely no reason for you to look up this phone number since you knew who called and why they called.  Then you came back here a day later for no apparent reason at all.  After all you knew who called and why and you had already posted about it.

I look up every number that calls with no id,  and when others were saying it was cogeco, I answered the next time they called to see if it was actually them ..

Yes it is, as this post shows on googles search let me clear this up, their credit recovery department has several different numbers, some companies use call centers also for recovery. Call centers can have many different numbers as well, your "Mom should know this or look it up before giving out bad information that others can then see and have their credit ruined if they are dumb enough to read your post and then ignore the calls from this number and without doing more then a basic search you yourself should refrain from posting advice

18662329017 called me, then hung up. I am a concierge, I recognize the number, this is a phishing scam. Do not provide information to anyone calling you!  Always use contact information found on your bills. Do not input numbers to connect with someone, or be removed from their calling lists. This input can be used maliciously, for the opposite purpose.
