    Re: Harassing Phone Calls

    To Whom It May Concern:

Today, I received yet another harassing, unprofessional, and rude hang-up telemarketing call at 9:16 AM.

Now before I go into the details of my complaint, I would like to provide you with some background information so that you will understand why these Telemarketing calls must stop!

A number of years ago, one of my students started making death threats against me.  It turned out that the death threats was very real because there happened to be a nationwide manhunt for this ex-felon.  It also turned out that he had just been involved with a burglary that resulted in a murder… this explains why the FBI informed me that a death threat had been made!

A few years later, another male student started harassing a female student who then asked for my help.  I contacted the male students parole officer… he was on parole due to a rape conviction… the only thing I will say is that Ohio Parole Officers are not very professional and I feel sorry for the public!

The last point that I would like to make is that in addition to having extensive experience with adult education, I also have extensive sales experience and I have seen first hand the fraud and deception that goes on in the Telemarketing Industry.  I am also aware that there are some Call Centers in this country that use prisoners and that 99% of Identity Theft is from inside a Company…

With these points made, what do you think my attitude would be towards Telemarketing Calls?   Have you ever been in a Telemarketing Call Center and seen the type of people who call your home?

As a former Risk Management Consultant, I can assure you that if you have seen the things that I have seen… you would never accept a Telemarketing call again!

Now with this said, I have to ask you why should a Bass Pro customer get repeated, unwanted and harassing Telemarketing Calls?  Why should a Bass Pro customer be forced to write Ten Complaint letters about the Telemarketing Calls?  Why should a Bass Pro Customer be forced to send over Twenty-Five Fax letters while trying to get the Telemarketing Calls stopped?  Why should a Bass Pro Customer be forced to contact the Ohio State Attorney Generals office in an attempt to get the Telemarketing Calls to stop?  Why should a Bass Pro Customer be forced to write the Third-Party Telemarketer directly in a vain attempt to get the phone calls to stop?  Why should a Bass Pro customer be forced to post complaint letters on the Internet?

Why should a Bass Pro Customer have to explain why they want the Telemarketing Calls stopped?

Now I started getting Telemarketing Calls from (866) 233-2773 and from (866) 228-8944… (Every single one of these calls has been hang-up calls!)  I then checked on several sites including, http://whocalled.us/, https://800notes.com/Area-Code.aspx/1-866, and www.ripoffreport.com, just to name a few websites!

My research showed that these calls are by and on the behalf of Bank of America.  When I told my wife this she told, “OH that is because we have a Bass Pro Credit Card!

It is too bad that the Owner of Bass Pro – John L. Morris can’t get on the Internet and see for himself what happens when people make the mistake of getting a Bass Pro Credit Card… which is handled by Bank of America.

… and it is a shame that the Bass Pro Marketing people are allowing Bass Pro’s good name be ruined by the rude, harassing and unprofessional actions of Bank of America and their third party Telemarketing firms!

    Sincerely,

Cc. Marc Dann, Attorney General of Ohio

    To the reader,

Bank of America and Synergy Solutions are violating the law... there are over 617 complaints against Bank of America on the Rip-off Report site alone!

In fact, Bank of America has over 7,000 plus complaints with the various BBB's!

Most people don't know how to complain or who too complain to, which is why I am posting this as a starting point for the reader!

Before you comment on this and say that I can sue them, or that all I have to do is register on the National Do Not Call Registry... et cetera, et cetera, and et cetera. Just keep in mind that I have done all of that!

I also know what the law says and the question you should be asking is why doesn't Bank of America comply with the law to begin with?

If Bank of America is so willing to violate the rules and regulations concerning the National Do Not Call Registry... then what other laws, rules, or regulations are the violating... and do you want to trust your financial and insurance needs to a company that does what it wants?

With out further ado, the letter that I faxed is as follows:

    State of Ohio Attorney General
    State Office Towers
    30 East Broad Street

    Re: Illegal Telemarketing/Harassing Phone Calls

    To Whom It May Concern:

Today, I received a call from (866) 233-2773 and a quick check on the Internet shows that there have been numerous consumer complaints!

First point: This is in fact a Bank of America telemarketing phone call from Bank of America Insurance Services!

Second point: My phone number is registered on the National Do Not Call List!

Third point: I am not a customer of Bank of America and a business relationship does not exist between us!

Fourth Point: Your Company has failed to comply with Federal rules, regulations, and laws concerning Telemarketing Calls and there are hundreds, if not thousands, of complaints that prove this fact!

It is estimated that over ten thousand telemarketers in this country are engaged exclusively in fraud. Telemarketers are no different from terrorists; both have destroyed lives and caused immeasurable pain and suffering. For this reason, we will not do business, or recommend any business that engages in telemarketing.

Do not call my home again!

You are to place my phone number on your Do Not Call List as required by federal law. If your company makes phone solicitations for other firms, my phone number is to be placed on all Do Not Call Lists as well. Do Not Call on the behalf of any company again.

Furthermore, you are to mail your Do Not Call Policy to my address, as required by federal law!

Failure to comply with the Telemarketing Act may result in complaints being filed with the Better Business Bureau and State Attorney General in the state that you operate. Additional complaints would be filed with the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission, whose regulations are, in my considered opinion, being violated.

Additional legal action would be considered as well!

There never has been, nor will there ever be, a legitimate telemarketing phone call.

I will not tolerate Bank of America or Bank of America Insurance Services that repeatedly call each day as described by the following website!

(I removed the who called us address.)

This is rude, unprofessional and illegal activity by your company… but that is very typical of Bank of America… isn't it?

In closing: Every time I get a call from (866) 233-2773, I will fax a letter of complaint to the Ohio Attorney Generals office as documentation of your companies repeated illegal and flagrant disregard of the rules and regulations of Ohio and the United States!

After all… the record does show that your company will call and harass people several times a day and I will not put up with that!

    Sincerely,

    John P.

    PEOPLE,

These calls are not coming from Bank of America. Just because these idiots are saying that, why are you assuming that it's true? I just spoke with Bank of America, she did some research and they said these calls are definitely not a product of their company. Seriously, why in the world would B of A do something like this?

Instead of focusing our energy on being pissed at B of A, why don't we try to contact the phone company or something? My phone company has a harassment hotline, 800-773-5550, so now I'm waiting for a call back from them to see what can be done. I was already told that because it's an 800 / 866 (toll free) number, there might not be anything they can do, but we'll see.

Of course you know that the people doing this just get a kick out of our complaints on this sight, especially when we're putting the blame on someone else. But I can't for the life of me figure out why this caller is putting so much energy into this, but things astound me every day.

    GOOD LUCK

    OMG,

I actually just talked to the people on this number and was quite surprised. They asked for me by name which was also surprising as all along I thought these were just prank calls due to the fact that they would always hang up when I answered.

First off, they aren't B of A; however they did get our numbers from B of A and are selling some sort of life or mortgage insurance. They say they're calling "on behalf" of B of A, but aren't really affiliated with them as the operator told me.

Now, I told the person that I talked to that I was actually at B of A yesterday concerning these calls from this number and that B of A put my name on their list of people that do not wish to receive solicitation. She said that she would also ad my name to “their” list, but might take up to 90 days. Hey, at least it’s something – maybe.

I asked her why I would always get hang-ups and she said because they’re on automatic dialers and apparently there aren’t enough operators (aka losers) to get all the calls. Quite a way to run a business. However, that doesn’t explain why it would hang up on me rather than just be nobody there.

    NOW HERE’S THE GOOD PART

The operator gave me a number to call in reference to our call if I had any questions. I just called the number and actually talked to B of A, I told them about all these calls and how annoyed I am by them. I gave her the number and she recognized it as a telemarketer that they give numbers out to. I told her that I need them to stop and she again put me on their “do not call” list. I said great, but I’m already in their computer and need to get out. She then said that if I get any more calls to inform them that I’m on the list and to remove me immediately. We’ll see how that goes.

The B of A number that I was given is 1-888-665-9900. This is the B of A number that deals with the telemarketers, so you should get some resolve there. If not, keep calling them EVERY TIME the 866-233-2773 number calls, and then some.

Sorry for the lengthy message, but last week I decided I was going to put an end to this crap, and feel I at least made a little progress toward that and wanted to share with you.

    Good luck all.

    Bugged too.
