- ConfusedI am confused. I received a phone message from Dan at Ruben and Yates to call them regarding a civil matter on my ss# on a legal case related to me. Before I could return the call today, I received a message from a family member and they called them looking for me. I don't know why they are calling since I have had no credit cards since 1994 all paid. I have no idea why these people are calling me, but after reading the above, it seems this is not legit. Can anyone out there with legal knowledge advise me if I should call them to find out? or should I ignor this message? Isn't there a statue of limitation on credit card debt anyway? I don't know but I thought there was, so I can't imagine what they want from that long ago. I haven't seen anything on my credit report indicating anything like this either. Advice would be helpful!

- mandycakesI received a very threatening call today( in which I saved)and my finace' was on 3-way and heard this conversation. The women involved claimed to be from Rueben and Yates; "Ms. Davis" stated that a judgment was being issued under my name for a credit card account. I asked about the account because I once tried to dispute it ,because I was a victim of identity theft; however the account was closed. When I asked for a copy of the original agreement she said that I did not have to be given this info. When I asked the name on the account it was my middle name and a former room mates last name(the person who had stolen my identity). I could not be given any information and I asked repeatedly. This woman was extremely rude and insisted on a credit card number or check by phone. I spoke with her three times tonight with no resolve and checked all 3 credit reports and nothing is there stating what she has told me.She also told me that my Experian FICO was 575 and when I pulled it it showed a 714. She told me that attempts to collect this debt was sent to my old address of 3533 w. st. charles in May of 2003 as well a montly statements, the house at the address was built in 2005 and I didn't move there until June of 2006.I ahve a lease agreeemnt proving this as well, that she wanted nothing to do with. She strongly suggested that I not seek legal representation and that she would give me a "break".She said that representation would close my options. When I asked what a "break" was she said that if I gave her a payment of $1000 by phone at that moment that she would not file a judgement for the supposed amount. She even admitted during our phone call that this is NOT mine but she would still need the $1000 right away. She said that this item was now closed but it had been bought and she reserved the right to go me for this debt that isn't mine. She even told me that she was my only chance to redeem myself. I don't owe this money and I would have paid it if I had owed.

- madGot a call from Attorney, Michael Yates (ext. 106). He stated that there was case against me in District Court - Title 15, for $10,000.00 - IRS 2008 1099. He has called non-relatives & relatives looking for me. He said he was a mediator and was on my side.
- ConfusedIn the last 24 hours I've gotten messages from my ex husband and from my boyfriends mother (out of state) and a hand written note on the door (I guess from a neighbor) about these jokers. I called them this morning (from a blocked number) and they say it's a debt from 2004 - they would not give me any information about the amount and said they were retained to file a lawsuit the next day.
I knew NOTHING about any of this until I got a message last night - I've received no bills or information about this debt - They have A LOT of explaining to do !- Caller: Ruben and Yates

- MomGot a voicemail today from a female who identified herself as "Erica Robinson" from Ruben and Yates. She stated that I will be "appearing as a relative in an investigation." Message said I had to call her back at 1-866-237-6191.
I'm sure this is a scam, since I don't know anyone by the name that she mentioned on the phone.
I'm going to ignore the call.- Caller: unknown
- Hemant LamaI got a very rude call from 866 237 619 on 1/15/09 or 1/16/09. I happen to google this number today and discovered that many people had also received this unwarranted treatment. It seemed to be debt collection or something (for the record I do not owe a penny to any person living or dead or all inanimate institutions like a credit card company!). As it is, the person was obnoxiously rude when I called back but when I requested them to get my number off their records(as it is a Do Not Call number), I was sarcastically told "why should we call you!"). He then went to to yell "Have a good day' in a sardonic fashion. Repeated calls to try and get their 'customer complaint dept.' resulted in various people calling themselves Jack Trapper, Christi Snow and even one claiming to be a Larry King; the latter ended his call mimicking an Indian accent (traces of which I do have). If transcripts of these aforementioned conversations are required I am sure it can be made available from AT &T. My brother too, who has an impeccable credit more whiter than the whitest teeth also received such a call, even threatening him of sending a police car at that very instant!! Such excruciating behavior by trashy companies should not be condoned nor allowed to operate blatantly but instead they should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I would appreciate it if you could keep us updated as to what action has been taken. Thank you.

Anyways the # was 18662376191 X 108 Mrs. Halt. When I called the transfered me to Mrs. Halt v-mail. I have no idea why they are calling me either. I haven't had any credit cards in over 10years and they were all paid off and closed. Apparently they are doning this to a lot of people.

- MiguelThese people are incredibly rude and are, in fact, breaking the law. They say they are a law firm, which is false and is illegal to say. They are a bottom feeder collections agency. They claim they will file a claim against my social security. They can't and saying so is illegal. They also claimed they will have my license suspended. Guess what? They can't and saying so is illegal. Just search "Debt Collection Laws."
They scared the crap out of me when they called and made these claims, which is what they want to do. But, they are breaking the law. I am going to file a complaint with the federal trade commission. I would suggest that anyone who has heard these illegal claims do to. www.ftc.gov- Caller: Ruben and Yates

- EA replies to BullYes, I too received a telephone call from this firm two days ago. They actually left a message stating my madian name and that they knew I resided at this address and for my husband to call them back regarding case # XXXX. I received the message after getting home and called them back at the 866# as I was concerned. The gentleman that I talked with was Rubin @ ext 105. He was nice to begin with and began explaining that I owed on a credit card from 2000- gave me my SSN and an old address that my parents had. I explained to him that I had no knowledge of this account and he stated that he could see from my credit report that I had always paid my bills and he felt sure that I was telling the truth however the account had my SSN & parents address. Then he went so far as to say that my parents could have opened this account. Wow, what a statement- these people will say anything. I asked if they were a law firm- he actually said that they were and he was a legal assistant (ha, ha). He stated the balance on this Washington Mutal/Providian account was over $5,0000 but could reduce it if I would pay it off today. The pressure was that I had to make this decision right then or they would file a civil judgement which would also prevent me from ever receiving another job, loan, etc. At this point he began to get loud and asked me if I wanted to do the right thing in protecting my great credit. I then told him that I would need to speak to my attorney- oh that really set things off. He began to get even louder and stated that my attorney would tell me the same thing and if I didn't make at least a down payment tonight the judgement would be served. Needless to say I fell for the down payment as I didn't want my credit to be ruined but now I know what is happening from this page. The whole point is that this is not my account and why sould I pay for something that is not mine. How are they getting everyone's information- from credit reports? I have contacted my attorney and I suggest that other people do the same.
- P.O'd beyond belief. We were called today from a different phone number 716-650-2640 and the rude person (watching my mouth)a (blank) woman named Nancy Rzepea theatened us with law suits and attaching our Social Security, bank accounts, future earnings, and distroy any effort we have of getting a good job. When I tried to explain to the woman that I never had a Texaco credit card she called me a liar and said that I was avoiding paying my debts. She would not allow me to ask questions about the account by talking over me. My wife (who has alot more patients than I do) got on the phone and tried to explain the situation. Well needless to say the (blank) went off on her also. I told her to tell them to just go ahead and take us to court. This woman told us that she was in charge of collections for Rubin & Yates stated that we were dead beats and we WILL be sued. My wife has a heart condition and tried to tell this lady "?" that she is really upset and that this person needs to calm herself down and answer some of our questions in order to settle this matter in a calm mature manner. This person said that she would see her in court and hung up. I googled Rubin & Yates and found that they were NOT a law firm and had many complaints against them. My wife called them back to ask some more questions and to speak to her suppervisor. A man ansewred the phone and said his name was Robert Mcbeth and was just as rude and accused me of calling the woman a "C" word. They led us to belive that they were a law firm hired by Texaco Oil. When we confronted them with the google information they denied this. All in all my wife and I are on social Security, don't own anything, and are on a fixed income of 1300.00 a month. If you people form Rubin & Yates read these comments, which I'm sure you do and have a good laugh about, SHAME on you for the way you conduct yourselfs. I'm praying for you that you change your way of doing business and that GOD forgives you for the hardships you cause people.
