- GPLThis number is a scam, I just got off the phone with TD Bank. It's been called in a few times again in the last few days...if you get a call from the number call the number on the back of your Debit or Credit Card and file a report. They want to "update your personal information on file".
DO NOT LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO SAY IT IS LEGIT OR THAT THEY WORK FOR TD AND SAY IT'S LEGIT. It's not, it's a scam.- Caller: unknown
- AmieThis is a scam. I've been getting the calls too and they never ever leave a message. They said I missed a credit card payment but I know for a fact I haven't (I just paid my card this week the payment isn't due until next week) and they only call when you miss a lot of payments and personally I haven't missed a payment in about 3 or 4 years now and even then they never called. I did the option to speak with someone but what do you know after 3 minutes no one picked up. I know someone who works for the TD call centre in the credit card section and she said that it is a scam
- Caller: TD
- Call type: Debt collector
- westcoastdefinitely a scam. I got the same message and know for a fact I have never ever once missed a payment. I called the TD visa number off the back of my card and they say they did not make the call and my account is in perfect standing.
I called the 1-866 number left on my phone and they said they are in Markham...then they said London..then asked for all kinds of info which I refused to give them.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION at all - they are trying to build a file on you to either use your Visa or your identity- Caller: pretending to be TD VISA

- SamsonI have been recieving calls from this number for a few months now but it was more every few days before. Now is it Dec/14/2010 and the calls have gotten more frequent to the tune of 1-3 times a day. Since this happened I googled the number to find out if it really is from TD and that is how I found this site.
I've been with TD Visa for for over 10yrs and have never missed a payment. I normally pay my statements on the recieving day or at most 8 days after recieving but absolutely no more then 10 days max (so rare more leap years have occured then that happening) so to have a collection agency after me was odd. Being cautious and skeptical of the call I called the VISA number ON THE BACK OF YOUR CREDIT CARD and asked about this number and reference number. VISA said there is no such number in thier records but the VISA rep. said he could be wrong and told me to call the TD CANADA TRUST phone number from http://www.tdcanadatrust.com/ thier offical website or go into a local TD Canada Trust branch and ask them about it.
I did both. I called the phone number from the TD website and the offical TD Canada Trust rep. said no such phone number is on file. I then went to my two local branches and asked about it even asking for the manager at one of the branches to double check for me as a concerned customer and they said no such number exsists and that they would NEVER ASK FOR YOUR SIN NUMBER VIA THE PHONE BUT ASK YOU TO COME INTO A LOCAL BRANCH for handling those details.
Given the efforts I made to check on this I am very confident in saying this is a phishing/ID theft SCAM. Not too many people would go to my lengths to check on this but I wanted to be sure, sure before posting my info on my findings and experiences.
You do not have to take my word for it. I only ask you if you're reading this posting of mine to only do the following two things to CHECK FOR YOURSELF.
1. Call VISA using the phone number ON THE BACK OF YOUR CREDITCARD and ask about the call.
2. Call TD CANADA TRUST from thier website phone number OR WALK INTO A LOCAL BRANCH and ask about the call.
Thank you and have a safe happy holiday people and may scammers slip on ice. :P- Caller: Visa collection agency (SCAM)

- MaryIt's Legit, TD Canada Trust Visa Collections, if you've missed your min monthly pmt. They don't leave a message in case more than one person has access to the phone (which was true in our case)
I called up all defensive and angry expecting it to be a scam and refused to give info, so they referred me to my branch who called the 866-255-3409 for me. Ya, turns out my BOYFRIEND who is at the same phone number hadn't made the min monthly pmt on HIS TD visa. He was royally punished for wasting 20 minutes of my life.- Caller: TD Visa Collection

- John replies to LandogTD may ask for the last 3 digits of your SIN as a verification question, but NEVER the whole thing over the phone as a way to verify you! Also if you receive a call from this number, and you're not a TD customer, please contact TD Easyline at 866-222-3456, have them contact the payment office to say that person is no longer at the number on file...they could be going on old information.
- roseI don't have a TD visa and I've received three calls from this number today. No messages have been left. As a rule I don't answer toll free numbers that come up as unknown.
I have no idea who is behind these calls.- Caller: Unknown
- oceanhi i just received a call from this number 18664855354 but i don't know if its a scam. A man on the other side of the line said call back with some reference number.
Is this a scam. Please let me know.- Caller: td
- MandThis is NOT a scam, I called this number back and it is in fact TD Visa regarding late/past due payments. It is just a reminder call telling you to pay your bill. I had already paid it but through the website (takes a couple days to go through).
- Caller: TD Visa
- MattConfirmed as legit. The first time they called I sent it to voicemail and they didn't leave a message. Called again and I picked up to an automated message (in an Australian/Kiwi accent for some reason - never heard a sim voice in that particular accent before) telling me I missed a payment (kind of annoying that they'd call to bug me about a payment that's only 4 days late, but that's banks for you).
However, as many people have stated in the above comments, never, ever, ever give out personal info to an incoming call. The auto-voice didn't ask for any, but they may have different systems/call centres running through the same number. When in doubt, hang up and call the number on your card. They'll be able to tell you what's up with your account.- Caller: TD Canada Trust Visa
- Call type: Debt collector
- KevinIt is TD visa informing you of your monthly late payment!
- TomScam number, called when I was not home and requested I call them back immediately.
I dialed the number cautiously (after googling it and finding this website) and right away after going through what sounded like a phoney automated computer directory a representative answered and requested my 3 digit reference number & name.
I said I did not feel comfortable talking to him and hung up.
I called back the traditional TD EasyLine & Visa numbers. Both official reps told me this number is not on file and my account(s) are in good/perfect standing with no missed or late payments of any sort and I was not flagged for credit/debit compromise or usage at investigated locations.
I'm 99% sure this is a scam and whatever the case, call the numbers on your card and not this 1800 number if your worried. Use official known TD channels and you'll be fine, don't divulge anything on the phone!- Caller: TD Canada Trust (SCAM)

- JoeI'm positive this is a scam, I'm also positive all the people here saying it's not a scam are either one or two people posting comments to try and convince others it is legit.
Think about it, if you knew people were going to go online and call you out as a scam would you not counter by giving positive & good feedback to reinforce what you want them to believe using false identities?
Just give that a thought before you call this number after reading a claim posted by someone that you absolutely have a missed payment and the number is totally legit. Think about it....
SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!- Caller: TD Bank SCAM

- KaiApparently i got a call from this number with a 1 in front of it, but it didn't sound like a bank call, BUT that's the reason why it was suspicious!
Whoever called when I picked up before they played any sort of recordings so I heard some kind of 'dora the explorer' sounds in the background saying something like 'princess' etc.
Then I hung up. - KaiAlso, here's a listing of all the TD canada's phone numbers...
http://www.tdcanadatrust.com/customer-service ... actus-phone.jsp
1-866-255-3409 is not in the list.
And it may be spoofed.
Also been getting other 'personal banking matter' calls from banks, so I wonder if there's a connection between the callers...
Maybe the possibility of personal information was lost somewhere on the net, by hacking activities and these callers got a hold of it, and then spams the banks to 'asks' for info or something to help cover their scam calls? - KaiThe 'scammers' watch these sites, and 'responds' to the postings, so taking note of the postings here:
Jun 8th 2007 - A inquirer
Jun 20th 2007 - A responder
Time gap 12 days.
Jan 4th 2009 - A inquirer
Jun 9th 2009 - A responder (took them ages to come back and check eh)
Long time gap.
Aug 28th 2009 - A inquirer
Sept 1st 2009 - Responder
Time gap 3 days.
You get the picture.
866-255-3409 Is NOT a real TD canada trust phone number, and this is most likely ran by a small 1-3 person scamming group.
I'm pretty sure that these groups have a slight relation to Anonymous and the data they steal from hacking activities, and has to be related to the old security and personal information exposure that the banks wouldn't admit to losing.
Banks will not ask you for personal information or personal banking matters unless YOU'VE contacted them first. - AmirThis is from TD Canada Trust collections. I know because they didn't ask me a single question, but knew that I had missed a payment by a day. Seems legit to me!
- Call type: Debt collector
- No VisaI don't have a Visa card but am dealing with TD for my line of credit and mortgage, both are paid up to date. Today this number called twice, the second time my husband answered and it said it was an automated msg for "me" (used my full name) and that it was TD calling. He hung up and called me to see if i was late on my payments but I checked and they have been over paid.
This post goes back to 2010 or longer, if this number is a scam, how are they still able to do this? I called it back and it said "thanks for calling TD..blah blah blah. - cfer cat| 1 replynot a scam. it was td. they knew everything about me, even that my credit card payment was overdue and my ei kicked in. not a scam at all. didnt ask for address, sin # just name and phone number and second name on account.

The number is fake - not TD Bank. Do not provide any information or respond to the call. Report it immediately to TD Bank and the RCMP Anti-Fraud Center.
