I keep getting calls and no message is left. If it was a legit call, I'm sure they'd leave a message. Legit companies making legit calls, do. Blocked.

Called, blank 24 second message. If it's REALLY the TD Bank Collections Department they have the wrong number as i don't deal with the TD Bank and never have.

This is a legitimate department from TD Canada Trust. I called them back because their phone menu was broken and they were able to verify themselves. The reason for their call was regarding a missed payment for a line of credit.

It is SO a scam!  I get calls from this number all the time -- never a message.  I have 2 TD Visa cards -- both currently have CREDIT balances - and no other loans.

I actually also called the toll free number on the back of my card and the female representative checked this telephone # and verified that it is NOT affiliated with TD Visa at all. She said that she was going to have this number reported as a fraudulent one.  So do NOT call it and give out any personal information as she also said that TD would never call and ask you to give out your personal information.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

This could be part of INDIA MAFIA CALL CENTER FRAUD

SCAM! I double checked with TD, calling the number listed on my GreenCard and was told that, TD will never call you. Do not call back, do not correspond with them, in any way, shape or manner. Do NOT share any banking info with anyone, over the phone or, in emails.

TD Canada Trust scam

They claim to be TD but sketchy and want you to answer personal questions that they refer to as "security questions". It can't possibly be TD collections in my case. I don't owe them and have no interest in being marketed to.

This is a SCAM but sounds very legitimate.  They left a voicemail message saying they needed to update my information. I called the number they left 866-255-3409 and they actually answer "TD Canada Trust". She asked my name and tel # they called me on, then wanted me to answer some questions for "security". I told her I wasn't comfortable and since this was not the same tel# as on my bank card I would prefer to call the bank to verify. She was in agreement and told me "she would do the same thing".  I then called TD Canada Trust head office, told them what had just happened and they said that number was not one of their telephone numbers and they would not call a customer to update information.  The Resolution agent I spoke with is reporting it to their fraud department.  These people who called sound more legitimate than I have ever heard, these scammers are getting very smart. DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.

Got a call from.this number. Automated message saying it was td and they needed to confirm some important information on my account. The number is (as above) and the address is (London I think). I hung up and did not call back. Td can send me a letter asking me to go to a branch if need be. I will  it give out my personal info to a person I don't know calling me.

I just called the # back. It's the fraud Dept for the TD to say they believed my Visa had been compromised to the tune of nearly $4000....(all restaurants & limo rides to odd places). They red flagged & called me. Cancelled the card of course. The only security question were did I have a mtg with them & did I have a business a/c. She knew my Visa limit as I asked her my security question.
This is really confusing as so many of you seem to have experienced attempted scams bc, I know ligit TD would never ask for a SIN # or anything that could endanger. How can this happen?

OK...here's interesting. The # that called me...855 255 3409. Called it back it registered on my cell as 855 771 6017. CIBC debt recovery FDR. They, when I looked them up, are serious scum bags. Never had CIBC a/c. If they call again I'll report to Rogers/Bell & RCMP!

This is fraud, I just called TD and it's not them. They advised me to email phishing@td.com to report it.

Scam ... just called TD ... not their number .. being reported to TD fraud department  ... give them zero info ... call bank .... call police ....

Here is the low down on how these scammers work.
The call I received was a recorded message asking for my husband by name.  The recording had three options:  press 1 if you are the person they are asking for; press 2 if you need a moment to get that person; press 3 if that person is not available.
I pressed 3, as my husband was not available.  This prompted another recorded message that gave me a reference number for him to recite when he called back.
I assumed this was legit and called my husband at work to give him the info.  He called the number and gave the woman the reference number.  She then started asking for personal information.  At this point my husband clued in that this was not TD and told the woman he was going to the TD local branch to find out what this was all about.  She said that would be fine and hung up.
At the local TD branch they told my husband that this IS NOT LEGIT and that they would be reporting this oh his behalf.

Got an automated message from this number, called TD customer service. She checked the number and said it didn't match any numbers in their records and to ignore it as its most likely a scam.
