Called today on my personal cell number.  I picked up so I could tell them to go away, but they hung up on me.  I ahve no credit cards and no loans or debts of any kind, but I believe they are looking for someone else in my family.  Since it was my cell, I sent them a "voice recording" back telling them if they called my number again, I would report them to the AG's office as my number IS registered on the "do not call" list.   The voice message went back through to their number.

The DO NOT CALL REGISTRY website is:

I've been receiving several phone calls a day from this number. The first time, I answered and they immediately put me on hold with some elevator music, so I hung up. The second and third times, I said "hello?" repeatedly, and there was just silence. The 4th time (this morning), they asked for my sister, under her maiden name (we've both been married with new last names for a few years now). They just called me again and I blew a loud whistle into the phone and hung it up. How do we get these calls to stop???

I keep receiving calls from this number. They never leave a message. The times I have picked up the call (mainly out of curiosity because they call me EVERY HOUR), there is no one on the phone. They are disruptive and should not be calling my phone as I am on a "do not call" list... and it is illegal to receive solicitations and harassments from anyone if a person registers a phone number with the DNC.

There is absolutely no communication from myself and the caller(s) from 866-265-7685; despite the fact I have answered my cell phone while it is still ringing from the caller of 866-265-7685; therefore I've concluded that this is the equivalent of "junk mail & or SPAM..." and would appreciate being taken off the callers list ASAP...Thank-you...

The agency can call dailly. Please people read the FDPCA rules and regulations before you hurt your own credit. Read all of the information provided by the FDPCA before you make yourself look foolish.
If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original credotir tor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector. Collection activities and communications that do not otherwise violate this title may continue during the 30-day period referred to in subsection (a) unless the consumer has notified the debt collector in writing that the debt, or any portion of the debt, is disputed or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor. Any collection activities and communication during the 30-day period may not overshadow or be inconsistent with the disclosure of the consumer’s right to dispute the debt or request the name and address of the original creditor.

By law they are unable to disclose any information until they have verified that they speaking to the correct person. So NO information will be left on anyones voicemail. Remeber if the debt is truely yours and the orignal creditor had to send it to collection, you had a chance to do this the easy way. These calls are your own fault, suck it up and be an adult. Once they have validated the debt, offer them a settlement (money order) send it certified mail and request a receipt. If your running to you local AG and this debt their calling about is yours, who looks like the fool?

Their "skip tracing" the debtor. Your name is associated with hers, so they will contact you for her phone number. And by law they can......read up on the FDPCA so that you will understand your rights (and the rights of the companies trying to get the money due them).

Sounds like many others have it even worse than I do. They call all the time and just today I received 3  8:41, 9:33, 11:35. If you call back they don't answer identifying what company they are with, only their name, which to me is either totally wrong or indicative of something shady in nature.  Also receive calls from the same number but with slight variations like a prefix of 011+ or something like that.  I got a hold of someone and laid them out and told them that since they never leave a message, I'm obviously not who they are looking for and demanded they stop calling my f-ing cell phone.  I did feel a little bad at first, but not after seeing some of these posts.  Is there nothing we can do?  This is harassment, but maybe their loophole to the legal system lies in them not leaving messages. I see that some here are on the DNC list but I've also heard that DNC doesn't apply to collection agencies.

I've got an idea...Beat them at their own game.  I say everyone start calling back and let them hear dead air only, but block your number in the process (*67).  It's basically the same crap they're doing to us by calling several times a day with no messages.

And you know that he has debts, how, exactly?  In case you haven't noticed, there is no correlation between receiving one of these scam collection calls, and actually having any debt.
