- Your name replies to stupidis appropriate.
- TeriS. Pgh Pa replies to NoraI received the same call today and was also hesitant so I contact our Rep at PNC she took the phone number and looked into it and guess what it is a legitimate PNC fraud center. My boss had signed a very large check with the recipients name instead of his name and they wanted to make sure the check was good to go through.
So don't worry this is not a phishing phone call. - Mandy G.This is a legitimate number. I contacted my local branch manager and she called the number and verified it was infact PNC. It was for a check that I had written but the signature didn't match the one they had on file (my signature changes by the day so I expect more of these calls!). My bank branch conferenced the call and confirmed. The check was returned because they didn't receive my verification in time ( I was away for the weekend) but they fed-exed a bank check over night to the recipient so all is good. If in doubt always call your local branch and have them do a conference call just to be safe.
- Caller: PNC
- common senseI received an email notice; instead of calling the number on the email; I went directly to the PNC website (on my own- no links of course); found the number; dialed; hit "0"; asked for Fraud dept.; they confirmed the number was legit and they patched me through. One of our companies wrote a check that was unusual and they were just confirming the check was legit as an anti-fraud measure. I gave no damaging information; no account information. They stated the check #; who it was written to and I confirmed that it was legit. that's all.
The phone number is legit, but just call the bank,(or any other company) direct as you should always anyway.- Caller: pnc fraud dept.
- The ALuminum GROUPFAKE calls from PNC bank
stating FRAUD
Recommend EVERYONE call it 100 times a day
it has been reported to higher authority
it is FAKE same as the IRS FAKE
call your bank on the tel number they have given you...- Caller: BANK
- Call type: Debt collector
- General Dynamics CorpI CALLED my bank Fraud number and reported what happened
they said this is FAKE
do not reply to them- Caller: PNC BANK
- Call type: Debt collector
- MLegitimate call from PNC Bank Fraud Center, calling in reference to an e-check we had signed with a stamp to make sure there was no online fraud occurring. They identified who they were when they called, and did ask for the sequence number of the email they sent me, my name, and address.
If you are nervous, call the number on the back of your debit or credit card with PNC and have them patch you through to whichever dept called.- Caller: PNC Bank
- MidNYteStormLegitimate call or not, people should always use cation with calls like this. Especially considering the number of operations that display false caller id information in an effort to trick people.
- KMgot a call from 908-2959060...said they were form PNC. sounded official...but clearly was not--tried to sell me crap...
- Caller: pretended to be PNC
- Call type: Telemarketer
- LauraMessage was left to call 866-295-9060. They referred to my bank (PNC) and business name and left a sequence number for me to use when calling back. I called PNC Fraud Dept to verify if the number was a PNC number. They said it was and transferred me to that number - The Exceptions Dept. They told me they had a check that was not signed by an authorized signer and if it was ok to process. Kudos to PNC for checking that detail. The phone number is Legitimate NOT A SCAM
- Erik S.Not legit. Call your bank directly, ask them if there are any issues, etc. I did and found that someone had forged a check from my account. My guess is the scam involves them tricking me to destroy the original version of the check so they can get away with it. Very sophisticated. Again, always call your bank directly.
- Caller: "PNC"
- Bradgot a call, was uncertain. Definitely from PNC bank. I signed a check with a broken finger and the signature was slightly off but close and they wanted to make sure.
- Caller: PNC Fraud
- Scott G.I didn't even get a call from this number but I got a funky looking e-mail from "PNC" telling me I needed to call this number with a reference #. I did. I verified my name and address, but was but was very hesitant. It turns out the call was in regards to a stop payment and she quoted the name from which the account was trying to be drawn from and the amount... So the call (and this number) is/was legitimately PNC Fraud department.
- TheresaReceived voice mail message from PNC Bank - they left the names of who they needed to speak to on the message along with a reference # to use when returning the call. Called back - they needed to verify a check that was written. They provided enough info to verify it was legit.
- Caller: PNC
- ConcernedSUPER FRAUDULENT DONT FALL FOR THE OTHER BS ON HERE!!! They called my childhood home and asked to verify a stop payment on a check. They gave a reference number and this number to call back. Being skeptical I called the normal 1800 number for PNC and gave them the reference number. They had no idea what this was and said that they would never call in a situation like this. PLEASE DONT FALL FOR THESE SCAMMERS!
- Caller: PNC Fraud
- SteveThis is legitimate. Called back and was asked to verify a check written by my wife who rarely uses this PNC account.
- Caller: PNC
- FrankIt's legit. I called PNC directly and they said that had no issues with my account. After reading some of the posts on this site, I decided to call the number just in case, with no intention of leaving personal information. They had a check number that was being disputed as my signature looked irregular. They did *not* ask for my address, but instead asked me for a recent transaction (just date and amount). Figuring that could do now harm, I gave them that, and they then told me the check would clear. On the PNC web site, I can see an image of the check and I can see why they were concerned. This is PNC.
- Caller: PNC
- BHThis is definitely not legitimate!!
- Caller: 866-295-9060
- EricaDo not call them back! Call the actual PNC customer service number (1-888-PNC-BANK) to see about any flags on your accounts. I called the actual number and there was nothing wrong with my account. They also said if someone actually calls from PNC, they will say what department they're calling from.
- Caller: Claimed to be PNC Bank
- Terri replies to ChrisI received this phone call. They said they were PNC bank. Gave me a reference number. So I called my bank and it is one of their phone numbers. They were double checking on a rather large check that we wrote. I also received one last month because we used our debit card out of state and they were double checking to make sure that we were the ones using it.
