This is a legit phone number. I called my bank who confirmed the validity of the phone number and transferred me to the fraud department directly. They verified a check that I wrote as it was sent unsigned.

Keep in mind, just because the number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!

Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.

If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?

If your call was legit,  telling about it won't  be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer!

Just received an 'email' from kenyatta.english@pnc.com saying to call, urgent matter w/ checking account..i checked my account seems fine..i figured this was scam so put # they wanted me to call and saw all your messages...I forwarded the email to abuse@pnc.com.  The name alone made me think of Kenya.

Legit number. I literally called my branch, they were closed (5:15, but I gave it a shot). Called ‭1 (888) 762-2265‬ from Pnc site and went through the process, they contacted the department for me and verified that the call was real and then confirmed for me so that I didn’t have to actually call that “unknown” number.  All good, not spam.

So far that I have been reading is that this is a PNC issue ....

It's PNC. They called me for a discrepancy on a check that was trying to be cashed and needed verification. Not spam, just confirmed with a PA PNC.

received a call from this #, saying to call them back ASAP.  I called the  # I found from PNC website.   They say they don't recognize the # that called me, and didn't see any notes on my account.  Also said if it is important, they will call twice.  I would call the main # from the website and ask to speak with the fraud dept.

Just called PNC main # again, this rep recognized the #, turned out they needed to verify a large check withdrawn.  If concern, ask the rep to do 3 way calling and they will verify each other.

Recieved an email with this phone number and reference number regarding suspicious activity on my account, then I called PNC’s customer service number on their website to confirm it was a phishing attempt. I was instructed to forwarded the email to abuse@pnc.com.

This is legit.  I called the main PNC number (1.888.PNC.BANK) and they said it is their Bank Operations number.  She put me on hold and called them to find out the issue.  I was a regarding a previous stop payment (for a recurring utility bill) and they wanted to make sure that the new charge for the same amount should go through.  They should really tell people to call the main PNC number and ask for a specific department instead of this separate number to avoid confusion.

This was a legit call.  I also had an email listing the same return phone #.  The email listed a sequencer #.  It also listed the last 3 digits of an account # that was not mine so I called the main PNC Bank at 888-762-2265.  PNC Bank verified the return phone # is an internal PNC Bank #.  Turns out someone at PNC Bank entered the incorrect contact information for the given account #.  The email said if no response by a given day PNC would make the decision on how to proceed.  That date had passed.  I feel bad for the person that should have been contacted.

THIS IS A VALID PNC BANK NUMBER. I got a message on my answering machine asking me to call this number back for a check verification from PNC Bank. They included a reference number. I didn't call this number. Instead I called the documented 888-PNC-BANK number and told them what had occurred. The PNC rep said yes, the 866-295-9060 was a PNC number. There was a check written against my account that they wanted to verify as legitimate before paying it.   THE CALL WAS LEGIT.

All you people posting this number is legit, are you all trying to reassure others that scammers can't spoof this number and pretend to be from the bank?

its a scam they are trying to steal your info, they called pretending to be PNC about a credit card I do not have with PNC

Received a call tonight from 866-295-9060 they left a message saying there was suspicious activity on my account and to call her back by 645p. I called the number to my real bank and they stated it’s a scam.

I received a call from someone claiming to be a PNC rep, concerning an old account I closed last year. I did call back and it was about a credit that had been issued to my account this week, from a refunded purchase I made before I closed the account. This number is indeed a legitimate PNC contact point.

It’s is PNC fraud department 100%. Do not be worried calling this number back. It’s safe. I just called my local branch after I called the number and they said yes it is our fraud department for pnc to verify a large check you wrote.

Says they're PNC so this scam is still around in 2020
