This is a call from a valid debt that I owe for Capitol One credit card.  It's a 3rd party company.  I downloaded an app to my cell phone called Mr. Number and set it to block this number by picking up and hanging up on them immediately.  They have been calling me 3 times a day, 5 days a week for 6 months.  I took the call once to find out who it was and what they wanted, and have blocked in on my cell phone since.

I received a phone call from this 866 number and when I answered they hung up.  It was the 3rd time I have gotten a call from this number with no one answering.  I called back for the first time and was told that they were trying to find me.  (they actually had my name)  but they gave a wrong SS # for me.  I said that was mine and they proceeded to tell me that they were trying to collect a past due debt for Walmart.  That is where they made a big mistake because I never shop in Walmart.  Ever.  So I told them they had the wrong person and that the SS# they gave was not mine.  They were then quite rude telling me I should not have lied about the # originally.  I told them they should not have lied about me owing money to Walmart.  That is when they hung up on me.  It is obviously a scam.  With all the people I could hear talking in the back ground, it must be a large scam operation.

Well first you have to relize its just one of those companies that merely scavangers in an industry that gets what ever they can get the ironic part Is they arent owed anything If should happen to talk to them tell them you need copy of original statement where it indicates They (They) provided a service or physical product Requiring it have Their company name of the statement owed, See what they say, Some one posted on here about a one time bonus deal you know why Because they buy closed owed accts from original companies for pennies, Pennies on the dollar example acct with $500.00 balance they might buy for a couple dollars Thats why they offer their "Bonus Deal" usually one time so person doesnt have time to think but instead foolishly pays their "Bonus Deal" works same as "Call during the next 20 minutes" makes one wonder why one would even want to work in that industry.

Another thing is there are Statutes of Limitations for such debts and they varie by State and the short time periods may surprise you Sure they can be found on the internet.

It is against the law to call you in the middle of the night.  The law is clear about the hours in which you can be called for collection

Been getting collection calls for the 7 years I've had my number.  Apparently Verizon gave me the phone number of someone who never pays their debt.  So on it goes.  They called me early in the morning and they've called at night or maybe that was another random collection agency.  What I don't get is why people continue to do business with Diane Jenkins.  I even was getting calls from the local supermarket where she bounced a check.  Every day I have a message from at least one of these scum companies.  One of them has been calling for 2 years.  You would think they would do a google search and see she doesn't have this number.  If I were such a dead beat I would never get a loan or credit.  I have 700+ credit rating.  A perfect rating is 750.   I pay my bills.  The longer it has gone on the more reluctant I have been to change my number.  I'd have to change it on everything and what guarantee that I won't have more scammers calling me anyway.  For those of you with andoid cells, get Blacklist from the andoid market. Absolutely the best blocker.  Unfortuantely, I can't block my landline where these calls come in.

    Stupid Debt Collector
Some of the debt collectors also provide financial services, so they call people not just to collect the debt but also to solicit for their services.   Since they are not allowed by FTC to call people for solicitation, they pretend to look for someone who owe them a debt so that they can call people freely.  It is rediculous that they have been calling a LOT of wrong numbers and didn't even know it.  Either they are the STUPID company ever or a CON who tries to SCAM naive/innocent people for money.  Don't fall into their tricks.  Report them to the Government agencies (FTC, State attorney general, police, etc.) DO NOT call them back, DO NOT be POLITE to them, and don't forget to give them a piece of your mind if you talk to them.  They really deserve it.

They continually call my cell phone.  Like the other posts, when I called back to find out who it is, I've been put on hold.  According to other posts, the calls are from Allied Interstate.  Is there anything we can do?

Let the fun begin again! I have a court order against this company and they started calling again! This should be fun when I re-open the case! They claim that my number is the only one they have to reach my wife, however they aren't permitted to call me on my number.

They started calling me on May 9th and keep calling 2-3 times every 1-2 days it seems :/ I'm glad I didn't pick up as it seems it's ANOTHER "debt collector". I'm tired of people calling me at all hours of the night (midnight and 2am, REALLY?! There are laws that should be protecting me from this kind of harrassment!) I don't owe any debt to anybody, hell, I don't even have a credit card! The last "debt collector" that called me at least left a voicemail stating that they were as such. I really don't feel like I should have to inconvenience myself by changing my cell number (again) just to avoid calls about debts I don't owe!

I'm NOT the person you're looking for, so STOP CALLING ME!!!!!! Ugh.

No message was left.  They called and no one said anything.  It was my son's cell phone.  They simply asked "may I help you?" (but they called him)  and my 10 y/o son told them they had the wrong number.  He better not get any more calls.
    1-866-310-3882 was the number.

I dealt with this company about two years ago,  For a period of about 90 days they called looking for some one that I had not seen for about 13 years.  I told them repeatedly that there was no one here by that name and they kept telling me that they would remove my number from their database.  A few days later, they would call again.  I spoke with an attorney that suggested that I get an address so that he could send them a cease and desist letter.  When they called again, I asked for an address because my attorney needed it. I also asked for a supervisor.  I then thoroughly worked him over for harassing me, for divulging private information to me about someone else and for lying to me about how they got my number.  I then said that I have received more than one promise to delete my number and they were lies also. He said he would take care of it personally.  The calls stopped.

They're number showed up on my caller ID again today.  I'm prepared to sue if it is about the same old claim.
