- ncmacasl replies to call me robin| 2 repliesIf they specifically say "Video" relay, then it is a person who is communcating using Sign Language via a webcam-like technology. If it just says "relay" then it is text-based and could be ANYONE posing as a deaf person, including scammers. "Video" is harder to "fake" since it requires knowledge of American Sign Language.
- G ManI had no problem when I received a call from this #... it was a legit deaf person. I returned the call at 8877 and was forwarded to the party trying to reach me... all on the up and up... that is no0t to say there are not a few rectals out there acting like children or even ripping off what is supposed to be an excellent service for the deaf... don't get me started pleassssseeee.
- G-Man replies to yeahYou know it is a bogus call(er), picked your number from a lottery of #'s... and you think you are "going to cry"? C'mon!!!!

- Kiki| 3 repliesCalled on my cell phone. I have registered all of my phones with National DO NOT Call, don't understand how they get numbers. However, the girl did say she was calling for her mother. Perhaps she was telling the truth, but I have come to not trust what these people tell you on the phone anymore. I told her,she had a wrong number there was no one here by that name. The number on my caller ID was 866-327-8877 Owner of a company called Marieugene Enterprises, in Yucaipa, CA. I hope they are legitimate but they need to make sure they have numbers correct. Got this info from a Google Search.
- windowwashierJust got a strange call from someone trying to buy cleaning equipment from me. Told them who to contact to buy what they wanted and that was it. Strange though. I'm listed in the book as a window cleaning company, not a suppy company.

- Sorenson Rep replies to DMFUnderstand this that the man's voice that u hear, that is a interpeter for the deaf client who is Ms. Perez. She might not understand what the interpeter was saying.
- Sorenson Rep replies to Sue| 1 replyThis could be a wrong number that they called.
- skeptict| 5 repliesThe problem is that this service is now being used to perpetrate scams such as some of the previous posts describes. They use the service to initially contact you. Then communicate via email.
In our case Carolyn Gray from New York City wanted to purchase one of our puppies. She was going to send us a money order for more than the puppy is worth. We were to cash the money order keep the price of the puppy and give her “shipper” the difference when he came to pick up the dog. My naïve farm-boy husband thought this was OK. He thought we could track her through her email address.
I checked and immediately located the same type of email on the puppy scammers page. I also Googled the NYC address she sent via email. It didn’t exist.
I think it is sick that these criminals are using a legitimate service for impaired people to commit crimes. - Deaf Client replies to Kiki| 1 replyYou could check it on www.sorensonvrs.com you dumbass
- MERCHANTI am a merchant and have received an equipment order from Rev. Mike Taylor without providing a shipping address or phone number. He did provide me a location an appartment in Colorado. He would provide me a company that would pick up the goods. All three credit cards he provided to me by e-mail were issued in Europe by the Royal Bank of Scotland according to Master Card, while he is alledgedly located in Aurora, Colorado, USA. None of the credit card payments went through.
He has never provided a phone number. We have communicated through Sorensen Voice Relay Service (VRS) from number (866) 327-8877 and exchanged information.
FYI: He is ordering 4000 pounds of warehouse equipment while he is located in an appartment.- Caller: Sorensen VRS

- SignGuyI received a call from this service which is probably legit... They said they were calling for a deaf person and explained how the call would work. However I think this is a scam by the guy they were calling for. The guy they were calling for wanted to order a large amount of banners from me and claimed he was a reverend. I quoted as a normal project and naturally e-mailed info the the guy. As soon as I sent the e-mail the phone rang and it was the same service? They asked if I have received a call like this before, I said yes then they disconnected. As I was writing this the guy e-mailed to confirm the order for the banners, and wants to relay card info via e-mail. I have seen this before and am just about positive the card info will not match when I call to get a voice auth. Do yourself a favor, if you receive a call like this be sure to verify the account. Any card company will confirm the card information... I just sent the amount of the order and am waiting on him to send me the card info. My guess is he will try to do multiple cards to keep the charges to each under a certain amount. Let's see... Keep in mind I am writing this as I am communication with the "deaf" customer. And the e-mail says: Please use these three cards to break up total order... I don't even need to finish. THIS IS A SCAM! I have been down this road before and somebody really needs to get these idiots. Not only are they insulting the deaf, but the name he gave me was one of a dead reverend from Georgia. What people do for money...
- Corey replies to skeptict| 2 repliesSame thing is happening to me right now. I have AKC puppies for sale with an internet ad. I looked up the email address Sorenson Communications gave me (wesleybrown39@yahoo.com) and it appears to be a scam. I can't wait to get my check...!!
- Fireanice| 1 replyI recieved a call from 866-327-8877 from a woman i was talking with by internet who claimed to be in the USA. We talked for a couple of weeks an things started to seem rather strange when she would never really give any personal info to speak of. One day she asked me for help when i recieved a call via this number 866-327-8877 an she sent me several United States Postal money orders totaling 8,000 dollars asking me to cash them an send a amount of money back to her keeping 2,000 for my time helping her in her time of need. I am no fool, i imediatly took them to the Post Master here at the post office an he did a trace finding out they were counterfit money orders. Beware of these people, i traced the shipper since they were delivered by FedEx back to lagos Nigeria and i filled a offical report an complaint here in the USA with authorities. Don't be taken by these people an most of you out there aren't fools , since when has anyone in the USA or anywhere else just gave you something for nothing without them wanting something in return. lets not be fools report all these you recvieve.

- new hampshire replies to call me robinhi, robin. i got the same type of call.sounds like a scam to me
- Gretchen replies to joe podolak| 1 replyI have gotten 3 such calls from 2 different people and they use a different email address each time. One person's name was Mike Coach and used 2 different email addresses, and the other was Carol and that email address was bogus. I think these people are using the Relay service to remain anonomos from caller ID. This needs to be stopped, they are miss using a service intended for deaf and hearing impaired people. This should be illegal in some way don't you think????
