- affordablerefinishing.net| 1 replyI received a call from a hearing impared person using this service to inquire about my Bathtub Refinishing service. Not a scam from what I can see. Sending them a brochure. This is the first time I have gotten a call from this service that enables them to communicate with the hearing. I think it is great!
- Caller: Sorenson Video Relay service
- Call type: Valid
- Musikmom replies to affordablerefinishing.netI received a call from this number today, but they did not leave a message. On the caller ID, besides the number, there was a name. Jennifer Ayque. I did a people search on this girl and besides information relating her to this telephone number, this other info appeared on the rit.edu website that she worked for Bridgehampton National Bank, Bridgehampton, NY as an accounting assistant. Nonetheless, it's a pain in the royal butt to get unsolicited phone calls.
- Susan replies to MI called the number and it is a valid Interptreting Service that will translate from English to Sign Language and allows deaf people to call you. I use it all the time to "talk" with my deaf friends.
- hishnikaI got several calls from this number about a car I had for sale 3 months ago on craigslist. The contact name and number were garbled so i couldn't call back. Called me next day and I said the car was sold. They keep calling.. three back to back calls at 7 a.m. Googled the number, and here I am, hello everyone.
SOLUTION:
I think we all need to write our congressmen and tell them to make this service paid for. Say, a small amount like 5C or something. This should keep the scammers off our backs. The truly deaf could then register with the service and get it for free. I can't believe how many people are being harassed by these "government subsidized" scammers.- Caller: some relay service
- terp1 replies to DMFPlease don't be an idiot. You are hearing the voice of an interpreter. Whenever you get a call placed through Sorenson, the interpreter explains how the phone call works, then they interpret the phone call. Maybe you should try listening to what they say to educate yourself.
- terp1 replies to Lefty| 1 replyJust to clarify---it is not the interpreter who was asking for your name. They were interpreting the call between you and the deaf person. It was the DEAF PERSON who was asking for your name. And we are not "translators"--we are professional interpreters. And monotone voice or not, you should have listened to the explanation of the call so that you understood the process.
- terp1 replies to KikiYou are mistaken. The number is for Sorenson Video Relay Service, which interprets phone calls between deaf people and hearing people. It doesn't matter if you are on a "do not call list", because Sorenson is not calling you--a deaf person is calling you THROUGH Sorenson--big difference! The deaf person probably just had the wrong number like I'm sure you yourself have done many times. Don't kill the messenger (Sorenson).
- terp1 replies to Corey| 1 replySORENSON did not give you that e-mail address. We simply interpret phone calls. The DEAF PERSON gave you that e-mail address. You blaming Sorenson would be like me blaming AT&T if a scammer called me on my regular phone.
- AimeeNot need to call me back for order the proactive that I already called canceled. pls dont call me back thanks
- AKSara| 1 replyVideo Relay operator - for TTY (hearing impaired callers)
- Homer replies to Sorenson RepOr....it could indeed be one of the many scammers that DO use this service so that no one can hear their foreign accent.
- Homer replies to terp1You DO NOT KNOW IF THEY ARE DEAF. You are ASSUMING that just because they are using the service.
Exactly how would you know for a fact that they are deaf unless you met each and every single person yourself and went to a doctor with them to determine if they are in fact deaf? - Homer replies to ncmacasl| 1 replyAre you really that stupid? People who are deaf also can not write?
One could hold up a pad with writing on it for the interpreter to read. No need for any sign knowledge one bit. - Homer replies to terp1Stop being stupid [***]. The SCAMMER IS NOT DEAF you tool. Your service is being used to peroetrate scams. Accept it and stop bitching to the legitimate victims of the scammers.
- Homer replies to GretchenYou are correct in your surmising that they are using this to remain anonymous. They do not want anyone to hear their foreign accents as that will give them away.
- KELLY- A LITTLE SMARTER- MCCOY replies to skeptictA Keith Lucas, Susan More, and Vivian Jean contacted me through TTI about my ad for boxer pups. They too wanted to send me an overpayment and wanted me to wire the rest W. Union-almost 5,500.00-to their "shipping company." I looked up addresses, names--nothing so I happily turned this over to our local Sheriff's Office-shame on whoever is responsible posing as a somewhat disabled person--God will get you!!!
- John replies to AKSaraYes, this is a deaf interpretor service. They called me today and an operator was on the line to assist a deaf caller.
- michellegThey keep calling and won't stop. I had an ad on CL as well. Can we block their number>
- JSKReceived a call from this Relay Service regarding a car advertised for sale. Very suspicious at first. However, transaction went very smooth and car is sold!! "Thank You" to the Sorenson Video Relay Service for
the deaf. - Shaunleft a message on my cell asking aobut an SUV they want to buy...I have no idea what they are talking about. End of message said Sorenson so I'm guessing the call was from a confused deaf person.
