- anonymousCollection agencies have collected over 8 billion dollars last year. So those of you who are debtors need to stop complaining about the economy and pay your bills.. bill collectors are there to help you. They can d save you thousands of dollars. Sure they get mad... how would you like to call and collect debts from ignorant people? They understand most cases. But are willing to help. And do not work at the debt management company. They act as a middle man from consumer to collector. A collector can save you more money than them anyway and you don't have to pay for it. ..... if its a wrong number. Just call back and say so, otherwise you will just keep getting calls!
- TJ replies to Get EvenContact your state Attorney Generals office and let them know the deal ....under the FDCPA of 1964 they can not conatact you about a sibling debt....or just send them a Cease and Desist Letter then if they contact you they are in deep [***]....
- forgedabouditThese people keep calling my house looking for someone (not myself)...I've asked them to stop calling since the individual in question obviously doesn't reside here...they call anyways...already filed a complaint with the FTC and had that number blocked, but they still called again...extremely rude, especially given the fact I have no business with this company. Very frustrating...

- short stuffI am sooo disappointed. I haven't heard anything from these sleezey people since my supervisor gave them a lecture they won't forget. Probably cause she threated them with the FTC laws they were abusing. Shame shame shame on them.

- MousepotatoA door-to-door representative from CenturyLink (TV/internet/phone service provider) gave me this number to call in and order service. They had recently laid down fiber optic lines in the area and are having a special promotional deal. It sounded pretty good, but I didn't want to give my info out without doing research -- it could be anybody going around claiming to be a CenturyLink rep, you know? Anyway a Google search landed me here... I'm not sure I want to go ahead and order service with them now.

- SandraThese guys keep calling my number and its driving me insane! I've had this number for almost 6 years now, and the last year and a half I have gotten repetitive calls for a Jacob Perry. When I tell them there is nobody here by that name I get asked if I know how to reach him. Um... no. I do not. I don't know why you expect to get a different answer every time you call, but I don't know the guy and I don't care to know him. Just stop calling me at all hours looking for him!

- tiredinalabamaThis company began contacting me by phone and mail in March 2012. I sent them a "drop dead" letter in accordance with the FDCPA by registered mail requesting no telephone contact and provided an alternate address. I have continued to receive mail at the original address and received a call this morning from the company. I called the company this morning to REMIND them of my letter. After being transferred twice, the supervisor came on the phone and was extremely apologetic (probably because he knows that his bottom-feeding company can be sued for each violation), stating that he would remove all of the phone numbers and ensure that correspondence went to the right address. So--that is my advice to anyone else having difficulty. Send them a letter--I got my sample from Clark Howard's website. They have no choice but to comply or be in violation of the law.

- Josey Wales replies to Get EvenCalled my up tying to collect a credit debt incurred by a son who has had my telephone no. after moving away 20 years ago. He's 40 yrs. old presently. They are like the Nazis were, although ringing me up instead of banging on my door. They're criminals not respecting the no call list. If they stopped someone tough guy on the street with their proposition (in place of dialing you up at home) they'd get punched in the face, or far worse which is what they deserve.
- Not meI'm sorry these robo-callers harassed so many people before me, but I am thankful for all the notes you folks have left. It will be helpful for me when I contact the FTC and also send them a Cease & Desist letter on my law firm's letterhead. This is gonna be fun. Thanks for your information sharing everyone, and again, I'm sorry about their harassment of you.

- Not my debt replies to Ricahrd HarrisMr. Harris,
One point must be made here---credit companies, whether they are above board or not, weigh the income level of the person they are considering collection pursuits with. A person that my husband, an attorney in Washington, represented recently, had been sued by a creditor without their knowledge. "All of a sudden" our client's wages were being garnished which is why he hired us. Turned out the creditor/preditor had looked at the combined income, assets, equity, etc. for this person and determined that they were more than able to repay the debt. Myself, on the other hand, have a pretty small income so the chances of me ending up with garnished wages over a $4K credit are pretty slim.
They are willing to work with me to repay and won't spend the cash to take me to court. It's return on investment and this other guy was a great investment in terms of getting twice the cash from the original debt. They can't get that money from me because I don't make enough.
And by the way---our client got the debt erased. - Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli replies to mrs. nussbaumDear Dear Mrs. Nussbaum,
I wish to thank you, the lady who has always been my grandmother, even through the Happy Days.
I managed to get a phone system that lets me reject/block any phone number that does not leave a message. I have received several calls from this number (and different numbers from this company too). If they do not leave a message, I call them back once and once only. If they do not answer (common), if I get a message saying the number is no longer in service (also common), I send the phone number on a permanent vacation to the permanent resting home for such numbers "Block City".
Your eternally grateful grandson,
Arthur - SamA person by the name of J. J. called asking for my spouse. Told him my spouse actually works for a living and then he proceeded to try and get my spouses work number. I refused telling him that my spouse is not allowed to receive personal phone calls at work and therefore it is illegal for him to be calling my spouse at work. He then stated that he could call him if he wanted to. This jerk even started pressing buttons on his end claiming he couldn't hear me because I was pressing buttons.

Can a debt collector contact anyone else about my debt?
If an attorney is representing you about the debt, the debt collector must contact the attorney, rather than you. If you don’t have an attorney, a collector may contact other people – but only to find out your address, your home phone number, and where you work. Collectors usually are prohibited from contacting third parties more than once. Other than to obtain this location information about you, a debt collector generally is not permitted to discuss your debt with anyone other than you, your spouse, or your attorney.
If they call your brother more than once, REPORT them! They are unethical at the least by lying to him about why they want your information. - Don replies to Get EvenContact your Sates Attorney Generals Office and file a complaint with Federal Trade Commission.
