- Poorvinny replies to Fedup| 1 replyHi Fedup, I was recently foreclosed and told there would be no further attempt at collection as part of my agreement. Now SRG is trying to collect. I beat my head against the wall for two years with Bank of America who did nothing but wait to foreclose. I am definately interested in taking action against SRG and BoA. Please send me the email address to your legal council. I have a story to tell, I feel I was treated unfairly.poorvinny@aol.com

- klviers| 1 replyBank of America would not help me to readjust my loanin 2009 other than to sign a note with a Dyck O'neill co . I subsequentlu still was going into foreclosure so I sold my home for 1600.00 that i had lived in for 25 years. now this company says i still owe the debt and should settle. each time i make an agreement with them they make it impossible to reach them or make a payment no one calls back and even though i thought we set up automatic payments they dont do it then say i am in default . this is nasty. Im at a loss.

- OLGA HUERTAI HAVE NO DEBTS WHATSOEVER, A MAN BY THE NAME OF JOHN PARKS SAID HE WAS COLLECTING A DEBT THAT I HAVE. I GAVE HIM MY PHONE NUMBER AND MY NAME; HE SAID THAT HE NEEDED MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND MY ADDRESS I ASKED WHY AND HE SAID THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY HE COULD GIVE ME THE INFORMATION ON THE DEBT. I SAID NO, I AM NOT GOING TO GIVE THAT INFORMATION AND TOLD HIM HE WAS THE INTERESTED PARTY NOT ME. THERE ARE SO MANY SCAMS OUT TODAY THAT I CANNOT TRUST THEM AND LIKE I MENTIONED I ONLY HAVBE ONE CREDIT CARD AND EVERYTHING ELSE I PAY CASH SO I HAVE NO DEBT. MY HUSBAND WORKED FOR A COLLECTION OUTFIT SO HE ADVISED ME THAT JOHN PARKS MIGHT NOT EVEN BE HIS REAL NAME AS COLLECTORES BY LAW ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE FAKE NAMES.HE STATED HE WOULD CONTINUE TO CALL AND CALL AND CALL UNTIL I GIVE HIM THE INFORMATION. WHAT HE DOES NOT KNOW IS THAT I ALSO CAN RECORD HIS CALLS TO ME.

- Chris| 2 repliesSRG is calling me from a Washington DC number..202-684-8337. I called them because they had left a voicemail. The rep I first spoke to was very nasty and because I was irate, she hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to customer service where nobody answered. You can hear them talking amongst themselves in the background. They told me they are collecting a debt I had on a Sprint Landline in 2003. I never had such phone line. I asked how they got my number and the rep stated that Sprint gave it to them. So I called Sprint and talked to both the wireless and landline reps. They could not pull up any acct by either my previous married name or my current last name. I called SRB back and was attempting to relay this information to the rep and all she was interested in was talking over me and collecting the debt. I told her I wanted a letter and she told me they had previously sent me letters. I ended up blocking that number.
Later in the afternoon I get a call from 202-391-0726 and it's SRG. I called them again and told them that I spoke with both Sprint landline and Sprint wireless and they did not give my number out and I did not have a Sprint landline acct. The rep then told me it was a wireless acct. I said oh now its a wireless acct, earlier it was a landline, so you need to get your story straight. Then told her that in the state of PA you can NOT attempt to collect a debt that has not been paid on in over 4 1/2 years. She told me that it would not be on credit after 7 years but they could collect and attach my wages, take me to court etc. She was trying to intimidate me, which did not work. I told the rep I was blocking this number also, so what were they going to do call me from a different number? I again asked her for the letter and she told me they had already mailed me 50 letters. I said WOW, 50 letters, I highly doubt that. All the reps had nasty attitudes. I will be sending them information concerning this supposed debt including the laws of PA, which the rep told me she deals with all the time. If she did, she would havr known the law.- Caller: SRG

- Wikkiam Raita| 2 repliesI have been dealing with SRG for the last ten days over a PayDay loan they claim I defaulted on. After being threatened with felony interstate check fraud and arrest I almost gave in and agreed to a payment plan. beginning monday I decided to do some research and found much information on this scam. Before I call them Monday as I agreed I would I will be contacting a consumer rights attorney and the attorney general for Missouri.
SRG has even contacted my relatives saying that I used them as references on this fictitious loan they will be prosecuted as well.
Anyone with additional information please contact me at wraita7@gmail.com- Call type: Debt collector
- Resident47 replies to Wikkiam Raita| 1 replyThought I'd copy my remarks from the huge payday loan thread.
Short version is that when you hear threats of arrest or jail from a debt collector, you can stop right there and begin drafting a FDCPA complaint to file in federal court. You easily have emotional distress claims, which as actual damages are not capped like FDCPA statutory.
Sounds like the extended family wants to blame you for a problem you did not create. If you can gain cooperation from anyone with access to SRG phone messages or willing to go on record, that will help your case.
If it was me, in my Monday call to SRG I would have some means of recording clean phone audio ready and not be too quick to mention lawyers or complaints. Without admitting anything against your interest, test them a little first and see if they hand you more lies and threats.
If you "don't recall" this debt claim, demand validation as is your right. You should by law have received a dunning letter from this bunch early in the collection campaign which gave you 30 days to do that. You say you're ten days in, they had five from the initial contact to mail that letter.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Harassing calls from a debt collector?
https://800notes.com/arts/KBN5c2IZiAC_wQjKBNRWFA - Resident47 replies to Chris| 1 reply} what were they going to do call me from a different number?
They did once already. It's pretty easy for them to establish a VOIP line just for you. Now you see why blocking and ignoring is not a strategy.
} I will be sending them information concerning this supposed debt including the laws
They don't want your information, they want your money. The only paperwork they should get from you is a demand for debt validation and contact restrictions, and later this year a FDCPA Summons and Complaint for their lies and bullying. - William Eaita replies to Resident47Here is a transcript of the initial text my ex wife sent me informing me to contact her after SRG called her:
Bill, it's imperative that you call me asap. Felony charges are pending against you from payday loan and (daughter) and (XXX) listed as references and can be prosecuted also which I'm sure you don't want Again, call me asap.
