I have been receiving calls from this number for the past few months. Each time they are telling me that I am being given free subscriptions to various magazines. The first man who called me hung up on me when I said I didn't want to pay for anything. The second guy who called me was mad that I didn't want anything from him. I just hung up on the guy today. I'm not really sure how they have gotten a hold of my number.

i received the same call @ 3:08 on 09-04-08 the number was 1866-520-6396. i first talked to Kevin then transfered me to his supervisor Victoria, they offered me the same things mentioned above. i was so tempting but i had a bad feeling abt it wen it comes to them charging my card. so i asked them for their email-they dnt have one- customer service#-they can't, it depends on my location- and so on. finally i got to tell her to stop all transactions. she didn give me the time to explain myself, she hung up

A few hours ago I got a call the same as all the ones mentioned above. I talked to Justin, who told me something about "free" magazines and a catalog, and mentioned $3.99. I was under the impression that I was supposed to get these 4 free magazines he mentioned, and a catalog of other magazines that I would be able to order for $3.99/week each. So I continued, and when I get to the supervisor, David, just to be sure I askedvif I was paying for anything right now, and my phone got a bit staticy (it does that) and I didn't hear everything he said, he moved on to whatever it was he talked about next so fast I assumed that he was assuring me I wasn't paying. So again, I continue, and later I ask agian. He says that it was explained to me about the $3.99 per week for the catalog, and I try to explain to him that I didn't understand that that was the case, but he goes on about how it's already set up and there's nothing they can do right now. At the beginning I was told that I was entered into this by just having a VISA (its a check card though), so I assumed they had my information already and was hoping for a way out. So he asks me to confirm my card exp date, so i do, and my name (hell, I don't know why I even went that far). But when he gets to asking me the card numbers, I get the feeling he doesnt have the information already, so I take one last chance to explain to him, step by step where I got confused and why I don't want it, and when I'm done he says "so I'll just need you to tell me the numbers, from left to right," ignoring me. So I hung up. They called back right after I hung up, but I didn't answer. It's been about 2 hours, and they haven't called since. I hope that they can't do anything without my card numbers, but I get the feeling I gave them enough...

I don't want or authorize ANY telemarketing calls at ANY time for ANY reason. Regarding the call I received today from this number, no one was there when I answered. But the number was recorded on my caller ID.

The supposed telemarketer, above, from Summit Reader Services needs to learn how to spell.

Unfortunately, I was subject to this scam as well. They started calling me this saturday(9-20-08). They called me 3 times and I gave them my debit card number and address believing that this was real because I had just signed up for some things online. First they put me on the phone with a guy who didn't speak any english what so ever. Then they put me on the phone with a guy who I pissed off and who hung up on me. Then today, I get a call from a guy named Steven Makowski. He gave me all of the same information because I kept prying for information because I started to finally believe that it was a scam myself. Unfortunately, I was dumb enough to buy into it thinking that it was real. They have already initiated the first payment to my account. But by getting all of the info that I could I did some research and stumbled upon this website where everyone else has been subjected to the same scam.  I acted quickly, called the bank, put a block on my card, and will be able to dispute the payment tomorrow when it goes through.  Hopefully my bank will look into it and the authorities will take care of these crooks.

started off as a wrong number, but he went into pitch anyway. representative was assupmtive and used good inflection, but i told him his pace was too fact for this area of the country, and that if he would like to make more sales around this area, he should slow down his pace. after a few failed rebuttals, i asked to be put on his do not call list. he kept up, so i asked to speak with his supervisor. he was resistant at first, then he put another rep on that said he was the sup. i explained again, and this person got rude with me. i asked to speak with his sup. when that sup got on, i asked to speak with the center manager. he said he was, i said he was a low level manager, and that i wanted to speak with the call center manager. he repeated he was, so i explained again, this time adding the sup's rudeness. he told me he would place me on their do not call list. don't trust him.

yeah, you may have bought the numbers, but my number was to a wrong number, which means that you bought something that was not sold legally. your reps are far too pushy, your sups are rude, and you need to be more respectful of DNC requests. just because you are a successful company that does not mean you are an ethical company. and in my case, you are not a company that follows the law. enron was a very successful company; worldcom was a very successful company; tyco was a very successful company. these are all companies that reported astronomical profits, and yet were operating unethically and illegally. same at summit reader services.

I got a call from a similar number (1-866-406-2947) saying they were Summit Reader Services and got sucked into the similar stuff other people are reporting.  I asked to cancel and they said they wouldn't cancel.  They finally hung up on me and I immediately called my credit card company.  My card company changed my account number and red flagged the charges that had already appeared from the company.  This is definitely a bad deal and you should hang up or not answer.

Where is your company's website?  I got pulled into this "offer" and when I told them I did not want to continue they refused to let me cancel.  Whether this is a scam or not, the customer services reps. are incredibly rude and very, very bad at customer service. I have already filed with the BBB and will file with the FCC next.

Yeah, I pretty much did the same thing under the same situations. I got off the phone with about 3 minutes ago. I wanted to cancel the order now, but they said they couldn't (that pissed me off). Just to get the stupid thing over with, I reluctantly gave the info to just move on. I'm about to call my bank too.

This company, Summit Reader Services, charged me twice for something I refused to pay for.  Ryan, the supervisor (2016), refused to cancel my order upon request.  It took me a while to synthesize or understand what was going on. When I realized what was going on, I kindly asked this gentlemen to cancel my order. He refused, claiming that the order has been processed and could not be deleted.  This company charged me for two subscriptions, when I refused to pay for one.  This company's phone number cannot be found.

MY complaint is that your company is NOT registered with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection. That means it is ILLEGAL for them to be calling people in utah. It is also illegal for them to call after 9 O'clock. They have been calling me several times a day- often much later than 9. They did not stop calling me when I asked them to. You need to get a different job before this place gets taken down.
