I was just called by this redic scam, same stuff as all of these posts except for one thing. They have apparently changed their name from summit readers company to Best Publications. The two women that i spoke to were very nice, but the whole time i was just trying to figure out what the heck this was and how they got my number. When i asked that, they told me they have a random drawing of all the major credit card companies customers. They knew my name and my address and everything, EXCEPT my credit card number. LOL. i was like if you know all this why dont you know my credit card number. Anyways, after being on the phone for 10 minutes or so she finally hung up because i would not agree to giving out my credit card number. Oh, and to try and make me feel more comfortable about it, they told me the fake address that everyone else got, but when i typed it in on google maps and looked at the street virtual view, it was an empty lot! LOL. what a bunch of crooks.

I actually am a telemarketer, I call for central publication center in Draper, Utah and this isn't actually a scam. You're entered into the Dream Come True Sweepstakes whether or not you buy the magazines, that's just a way of building rapport and such. It's not a scam, it's very much so legitimate.

    P.I._in_Winnipeg
I am currently investigating CPS as a trainee for Telesolutions based in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada they say they are selling magazine subscriptions for Central Publication Services, based out of Draper Utah.

I was hired to sell people 60 month magazine subscriptions for $4.99 a week, but they use a Sweepstakes called the Dream Come True Sweepstakes that they say gives you a chance to win $100,000, A Ford Mustang Convertible, a trip to the Caribbean, a trip to Australia and hundreds of other prizes.

This is called a hook which then leads to you answering a very short pointless survey which then gives them very valuable information about you. Your sex, age bract, status, and if you use coupons, have graduated high school and you hobbies and interests. All that info is mainly used for is to help us determine if what type of magazines we should offer you and to better there records as well they ask you if you would like a call back about student loans.

This seem all on the up and up but I am a P.I. and have work at legit telemarketing companies, and Telesolutions in Winnipeg is not offering people 1-800 numbers or any call back info to the customer or uninterested people. This is a law and they don't do this. They give a Sweepstakes number that is the same to all the people entered into they so called draw C- 208 everyone with they same number, this makes no sense.

I, for one, work for one of these companies and basically it's a telemarketing company that works for a CPS. Our job is to inform you that you have been entered into the sweepstakes. Now no matter what you do, you HAVE BEEN entered in the sweepstakes. The job of the guy on the phone is to inform you this. The questions they as you in the survey is not beyond anything a cars salesman would ask. They are asking for preferences so that they don't try and sell you a magazine for old people when you're a 21 year old student. There's nothing wrong with it. The reason they are persistent is because this IS there job and they are paid on commission, so don't blame it on them, they are doing what they are a hired to. I worked for a while in the outbound calls and the main problem that I had was that people automatically would be rude. I did not do anything wrong, what happens is that you're name and number shows up on a computer and I have to go through the motions. NOW, if you're wondering how your name and number got on that list, that is YOUR own fault. Major list brokers sell it to the CPS company which is Central Publication Services, a magazine company. and we are a stuck talking to you.

THIS IS NOT A SCAM! The product that they are selling is legit, because where else in the world would you find a deal of buying a weekly magazine, and getting 3 more for free for 4.99. They give you the option to switch and plus you a get a watch. now if you don't want that then fine but please be less rude because the person on the line is only trying to make a living and is not trying scam you.

So please stop complaining. If you're getting more then one call, don't yell at the guy on the phone because everything is automated, that guy has no idea that you have been called more then once. If you don't want to get calls from them, stop signing up for stupid things online and don't have a credit card. And if they do call, for the sake of the other guy's sanity, wait for him to finish his first phrase and simply ask to be put on the DO NOT CALL LIST. DON'T just hang up on him or you'll just get another call from someone else in the company and end up ruining his day. DON'T just say I'm not interested, because you didn't even give him the chance to explain anything so of course he'll be insistent. And for the love of god, DON'T insult the guy, because like you, he is just doing his job and trying make ends meet.

People like to get things for free but they don't like spending. Companies are then stuck trying to sell things in sneaky ways by offering sweepstakes and deals and paying telemarketing companies to do the dirty work.

And they never ask your credit card information of the bat. And some of you are mixing up the company's name. The reason it might change is because the telemarketing company might be paid by a new publisher company. and to P.I, I might know you cause I work at the same one.  We are just normal people trying to make a living, so calling us crooks is going way to far, Would you call the cashier at McDonald's a crook for upselling a combo when he knows it's awful for your health?, NO, so be a little nicer.

PI you are hilarious. I was the PM General Manager there that you have right! As for you being a PI, that is beyond laughable. I remember firing you 2 hours into your first shift, and then you said you were going to get a gun to show me!!! Its now 9 months later and yet I have never seen you again! Guess it would be tough you though to get back and come see me, seeing as how after I fired you and you threatened me, LMAO, and we escorted you out the front door of the building we watched as you MR. BIG TIME PI get on the city transit bus and ride off. Who are you kidding, PI??? Come on man you are nothing more than a screwed up crackhead who is constantly hallucinating and living in your own made up fairytale world!!!

But good luck to you in life! :)

Great place to work-HARDLY! They will not give you your 2-15 minute breaks. First you sit down for 4 hrs and talk straight and then you get a half then you talk another 3 1/2 hrs straight. I thought the labor code was such that a person should have a break sooner than that. Yes,everyone has the same order # and the "supervisor" is really a closer. That person is not monitoring your performance, all they do is close all day long. Where is the proof, the home page of Central Publication Services? HMMMM. If they are so legit ,why are they so inaccessible. Oh, and if it such a great place to work, why is the turnover so high? It is a revolving door.

It's amazing that you people are so proud to be working for a company like this. I work for U of M and we test on animals...is it right? Absolutely not, am I proud of it? No. We all need to meet ends meet, whatever but just because you work for them does not mean they are a great company. Great companies dont mislead, straight up lie, pressure, get mad, fail to cancel, fail to provide a customer service number, or call from blocked numbers! I am glad you are so proud to be unethical. Americans? Lol so ur employees are only prejudice as well? Right, wonderful and legit company you have there!

waste of time; they call whenever they feel like it and ignore do-not-call rules.  If they are called on it by the FCC, they simply pay the fine as part of the cost of doing business and if it is too big, go out of business and re-open the next day with a new name and the same people and equipment.

They are all scammers so just ignore them.
