They called my mother-in-law, and said that I was to appear in court in NY the next day or end up in jail.  She gave me the info and I called them.  They told me that I had a debt from a providian card from 7 years ago and that with court costs, etc I owed over $5,000 but they would settle for $1,500.  They threatened to freeze my bank account and garnish my husbands wages, and turn us in to the IRS.  I was really scared.  I called my bank and they said yes, it could be done.  Well, I called them back to arrange payment info and asked that they mail or fax me the details.  They havent done this yet and it has been nearly 3 weeks.  They refused to take anything except my bank account info.  I gave it to them and then called an attorney who said to cancel the account.  I am now getting threatening phone calls from them telling me that if I do not pay by the 28th of Feb they will sue me and take everything I have.  They also call and hang up on me alot.  Its really freaking me out.  I may have my phone number changed.  I would call them and tell them to stop all communication with me but I dont know thier address.

Im just curios if any one on this site has actually tried to take responsibility for the debts they actually owe? If you opened a credit card or something dont you feel morally obligated to pay back the money you borrowed? I really think people need to start taking responsibility for their actions rather then wasting time creating theese web sites to feel better about themselves for not paying their bills. Just a thought people.....own up to your responsibilities and pay your bills so someone like this company dosen't have to call you.

Yes, they are at the same address! I got another call from Kingman & Cole from this # Caller ID SAID: NEW YORK 716-689-4268; the next day I called the number really early in the morning; a woman answered & I asked for her fax# & she gave me this fax# 716-635-6192 & asked me if I had a problem & told her that your Mr. May/Alfonso keeps harassing us, when there is no one here with that debt. All she said was "OH".
So I tried to fax a note saying to stop calling me, all day long, but their fax did not accept my fax. So I called the BBB in upstate NY & told them that I learned this Co. has 3 name's & to merge them: MAZE, Marshall & ZIOLKOWSKI, & KINGMAN & COLE; so that all complaints are together.
The Fax number didn't work until late at night!!!!!!! You also have to send a written notice, but be sure to include all names they go by, because if you told M & Z to stop calling, K & C will still call you. See what I mean?
Mean whileit's the same people at the same address with the same phone #'s. Who do they think they are?

It's funny that these two positive messages showed up a couple days after I called you and told you I googled your number and you show up on this message boards.  Stupid scam artists.  Get a real job like the rest of us.  Stop shaming your poor Moms.

I got a call from a Ms. Gennero at about 7:30pm at my home on Tuesday 2/26/08. Ms. Gennero said she was with Abrams, Burke & Associates L.L.C.  She said that she was trying to collect a debt from my ex-wife. I gave her my ex-wife’s phone number. A short while later Ms. Gennero called me back to say that my wife was refusing to pay and would I be willing to pay her debt.

Ms. Gennero sent me an email with a version of Word that I could not open even though my computer is only two years old. It came from this address:

When I called the number listed, I got directly connected to Ms. Gennero’s voicemail.

After a number of phone calls between Ms. Gennero, my wife and myself, I told her I would pay the debt if she would send me official paperwork through the mail. Ms. Gennero got angry, said that I had just wasted her time, and hung up on me.

I just wanted you to know they have called me also regarding an old credit card debt from years ago past NC law collection dates.  They have intimidated me, treatened arrest, threatened police dept to come to my job stating I had one hour, treatening lawsuit that is imminent, abusive, threaten put a lien on my car, contact my creditor where I have my car financed to make the payment go up to 649.00 per month, stated they've already called my employer informed them of debt, threaten to garnish my wages and I wouldn't have anything left to pay bills with, get copies of my tax forms from last year, call the IRS have lien placed against my refund for this year, I'd have to appear in New York court.  They are abusive and intimidating.  I did send two moneygrams one last month for $100 and one matter of factor one this week.  When they called me this week instead of a moneygram next month they wanted $300 and my checking account number.  They were so abusive and threatening more and more and the amounts keep changing and going up with each call.  I did some research and found what I feared was true.  I did however discover with a moneygram you can contact the moneygram company and report these shady characters as fraud and obtain your money back with the fee paid for the moneygram.  I've already got one payment back and waiting to receive the other payment back as well.  I'm just lucky I found out when I did.  I can't wait for these folks to contact me after they discover both payments made by me were recouped by me and they were reported to moneygram for fraud.  So I'm waiting for the next call and I'll be ready for them.  I also will be filing reports with the FTC, NYS Attorney General, Consumers affairs, licensing commission and anything else I can think of.  Apparently they try and get to payments up front in moneygrams before attempting to get a checking account number. Hope this information has someone else out there.

I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the NY Attorney General, and the Florida Attorney General.

I have a GOOD attorney. That website explains how to sue them. I am willing to travel to see these folks behind bars.

See my post above especially if you sent them a moneygram.  You can get your money back from moneygram if you report them as fraud.  Moneygram 800-926-9400 listen to prompts and repeat the word fraud when ask.  They will take a report and give the representative your moneygram reference numbers of the moneygrams you sent to them under whatever name their using when they contact you.  The refund process takes approximately 10 days.  I sent the jerks two payments.  I've already got one refund back and waiting to receive the other one.  If you used moneygram at least you can get your money back - I was luckly so far.  So now I'm waiting for their next call when they find out I've recouped my payments to them.  Oh yes, their are pulling everyones credit report so they can use this information in threatening and abusive manner.  They know more about you and make it more believeable.  Good Luck

I received several phone calls this afternoon from a number linked to this company 716-692-3453 and after the third call (all of which were made within 20 minutes of each other) Michael Cappello of Abrams, Burke & Assoc. left me a message regarding a lawsuit being prepared against my husband. Since we live in a community property state, the lawsuit would involve me as well, he said.  He indicated that he'd been attempting to contact my husband on the matter with no response (he'd left my husband a voicemail two minutes before his first call to me) and now he was contacting me on that matter. They are attempting to collect on a credit card debt that ran it's statute of limitation almost five years ago.

Also, we earlier this evening found out he had contacted my mother-in-law and several members of her family (she is my husband's step-mother, they don't even share the same last name) and disclosed information to them regarding the debt. After a quick investigation of the situation on the internet, I found this article: http://www.bcsalliance.com/y_debt_scavengers.html and after reading up the  Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Michael and this company is already in violation of the FDCPA by disclosing that information our in-laws.

We will be following the tips given in the article I linked and if they continue to harass us, we will take further action. I hope you do the same.

These idiots tried contacting me back in October. I demanded validation of debt and the guy told me I could fax a letter requesting this. The fax number he gave me was no good. It was a cell phone. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau of course with no response to the BBB. I never heard back from them until today. Now they are calling me again from a cell phone and had me reference the same file # and the same 866 # as before however, this time they are calling themselves Abrahams Burke & Associates. I called them back and informed them I knew exactly who they were and that I STILL wanted a validation of debt. Let's see if they respond.
