I just called this number back to see who it was and it had a different dial tone as if it was connected to an international phone number.  It only "rang" once and went to a recorded message saying in a foreign accent "Thank you for calling Takar Roofing Company, please be aware that your call can be recorded..." at that point I hung up.

The recorded message was hard to understand but thats what it sounded like.

rec'd call.  Indian-sounding male asked for Karen.  I said 'no',  'who's calling?'  rec'd unintelligible ans.  told him I could not understand him, and he said 'goodbye' and hung up.  get these calls a lot (altho on no-call list)  sounds like a come-on.

I have been getting a bunch of calls from this #.  I have been trying to answer, but get silence.  Today, I finally get a person.  Sounds like a book club sold a small debt to a collection agency in india or somewhere.  I told them to send me a bill.  He was trying to tell me he couldn't do that, because the original company sent me some bills???  Meanwhile, I hung up.  Phone rings again, and they leave me a VM of a couple minutes of typing sounds.    Anyways, I'm not giving banking info to a collection company in india who won't send me a bill.

Keep getting calls from this number 866-441-5558 every day at all hours of the day and night. Told them it is a Wrong Number and the person they are asking for doesn't live here.

They just keep calling. Sometimes every 15 minutes after telling them "You have a wrong number".  Today I asked them "Just What Part of
They Don't Live Here Do you NOT Understand."  I'm going to use a police whistle they next time they call!!  

Is the only way we can have any peace to give up having a telephone?
These "Pests" should not be allowed to invade the peace and privacy of our home!

Getting really tired of this number 866-441-5558 calling my daughter's cell. Mind you she is a minor. They started calling on Sept 4th several times. I called back and spoke to some guy named Dan . He was asking for my younger daughter. I said what the hell does he want with my younger daughter. The cell phone belongs to my other daughter. He said it's regarding a bill from 2005. That my daughter was in the hospital. I told him she never was in the hospital. He gave me the last for #'s to my SS#. I never told him if he was right or wrong. He said that they never called the last time they called was last year. Acted like he was typing and said the funny thing is the hospital wrote this off.That our balance is zero. So Again I told him he better never call my daughters cell again. He said they can because they are trying to collect a debt. I told him in the state of Florida. Once we tell a bill collector to stop calling. By law they have to stop. Otherwise there will be a last suit on his ass. Plus according to him I have no balance so get your stories right. He hung up.
Today Sept7th I get calls again on my daughters cell the same # again. This time when I call back. It says Tabar Group & Co. Indian lady . It's a recording. Then it seems like your on hold for someone. Then it disconnects you. I am so pissed off as you can imagine.

What are we to do? What are our rights?

This number calls me several times a day. Even though, one month ago, I asked them to never call this number again, they continue to call! When I spoke to them in August, they indicated that they were a debt collector for a book club. I asked them to send me the original bill because I had never been a member of a book club. I then asked them to provide the information prior to ever calling my number again. They did stop calling---for a week---and then they have been calling several times a day since then. They never leave messages--just hang up on my voicemail!

I finally answer it today and said hello several times before somebody answered.  They asked for Mike, this is a new cell phone number for me, and it appears Mike had the number before me, as that is what pulls up on my caller ID. He just asked for Mike several times, even after I told him he had the wrong number, he then hung up, we will see if they call again.

Received call from this number.  No message left.  I called the number back and it sounds like it some place in India called Takara Group.

Like everyone else I am receiving calls from this company several times a day. Many states have a number to call with which to report harassing phone calls but with the company hard to locate very little can be done. With all the technology we have I do not understand why our cell phones do not have the capability to allow us to tag a number and have it permanently blocked from ever coming through again. I mentioned this to Verizon but they did not seem  at all interested in passing it on to the engineering department. If anyone has a phone with this capability please let me know. If this is a feature you would like to have on your phone let your carrier know.

I have received calls twice from this number today - once, no answer, silence on the other end; second, one ring hang-up.  This web site is awesome, being able to check out numbers. . . thanks!

This is a scam that keep switching numbers.  Report them on the do not disturb list with complaints - EVERY TIME THEY CALL.If you do bother talking to them and they claim they're a debt collector, demand a hard copy of the debt. I guarantee they won't be able to produce one.  Hang up, don't bother answering the calls.  Just report the complaint.

I keep getting call from 1-866-441-5558.They call everyday or twice a day, they never leave a message.I don't answer any calls from blocked Id.or callers that don't leave messages.

I just got a call from them, too.  They said they were collecting a debt for a book club that I was in 10 years ago.  Of course, my account with the book club has long been finished.  They told me they were giving me the chance to do the "decent and honorable thing" by settling the account for the "small sum of $24.98" or they would ruin my credit!  I told them to send a bill and documentation of what they intend to do with my credit rating.  They said they had already sent me three notices, and were able to provide my home address!  They refused to send and hard copy of anything so I told them to bugger off...

i walked into my work and my secretary told me i recieved a call from this number, when i called back it sounded like a hindu person and just like the person before me claiming that it was a book club who i owed 33 dollars in backcharges. i asked him when i opened up this so called account they asked for my last name, i gave it to them and they pull out this other last name that in no way comes close to mine and said that it was a wrong number and he was gonna remove my number from the call list.  one thing is trying to call you at home or at your mobile, but bothering you at work? these people are out of control. who can i report them to?

Just had a similar experience as the ones mentioned above.  They called me several times yesterday and today and left no message.  I called them back and they said I had a debt with DoubleDay Book Club (I've NEVER ordered anything from there) and that I could settle it for $81. and some cents (can't remember how much) or my credit score would be negatively affected.  They were using my maiden name and an old address.  They said they had sent several copies of an invoice to that address, and that even if someone had used my information without my permission to order these books, I should go ahead and pay the debt today or my credit score would suffer.  I said "do you have my social security number?" He said "we have all of your information."  I said "can you read to me what you have listed as my social security number?" He said "no, because we are recording the call, I am not authorized to do that."  I said "can you tell me the last four digits of my social security number?" He again said no.  I told him I wasn't paying anything, and asked him to send a statement to my new address.  He said he would send a statement there, but that as a result of this call, he was going to report this debt to the credit bureau.  I told him that if this debt hits my credit report, I will be filing a complaint against their company.  He hung up on me.

I have had the same experience. First they wanted me to pay 35 dollars to get the information. I told them no and told them to send me something in writing. Then they asked for my email address where they could send the bill. I gave them that but who knows if they will send anything. It is obvious they are a scam trying to get money from people.

I recieved a phone call from this company MONDAY. They havea legit debt of mine in their possesion. I told "nancy" i would be able to let her know fri the 25th if i could make a payment. So tuesday i get another phone call! Hung up, called them back Spoke to a non american by the normal name of erica brown. she assured me no one else would call. That she would hold the file and call me friday. So today Wednesday after coming home from the doctor. By the way I'm pretty sure no one needs this stress Let alone a pregnant woman, as myself. so I told them they were NOT suppose to contact me and hung up. then called back and spoke to another Jihad, and he was "the supervisor" and all he seemed to want to knowis when I was going to make a payment. I told them if they contacted me tomorrow on thursday, they would hear from my lawyer with a harrassment suit against them!

I got the calls today.  First they called my husband's cell (it is a company that scans the phone lists and looks for phones owned by the person they are looking for and then proceeds to call all phones with that person's name).  My husband gave them my cell phone # and then called to warn me about a RUDE man.  Boy was he right.  They did call my cell, but I was working and they didn't leave a voice mail.  They call my husband minutes later and he told them to call me and leave a message.  No such thing.  I called them and they told me about a book club debt.  I said to send me a hard copy of the bill as I want to knwo what I am paying.  HE said no he could not do that because they only send three.  I don't remember ever receiving anything but the 1st one from the club itself.  He said I could send them a check and he would give me an address.  I told him that I DO NOT PAY anyone anything until I have a legitimate bill in my hand.  He kept insulting me and saying had I done my duty, etc..... I would not be in this boat.  He said he would report it and I told him to go right ahead as I know my rights, I get a hard copy of the bill from the credit agency when requested.  And if he reported me, I would report them as not providing me with a bill.  He went back to If you just paid this small amount (the same as the other complaints here).  I said either send me a bill, he said no and I said goodbye.
