Wow similar story here..... just got a call from TCS stating I owed BMG Music $54.69 and i need to pay this today or they would put a negative mark on my credit report.  I asked them How long ago was this, they told me back in 2006 (hummm its 2011), it took 5 years... really, anyway i told them i would not pay them and that i wanted something in writing, Nope they weren't going to do this they sent 3 notices and i never replied them.  I said i never received anything from you, I asked when the letters were sent out. All she could tell me was the last letter was sent out on Feb 2011, WTF, almost a year ago........ I told here i didn't have a bank account and i could only send her a money order, and I needed something in writing...... Nope still they were not going to send me anything.... I said can you email, fax me something.... NOPE........ so screw them.... i did get a 1-866-441-5558 # and an address out of them........... I'm not sending them any money until they send me something in the mail...... which it seem likes they are not going to do that so....... screw them!

I just had an indian guy tell me his name was "Rafael Gonzalez". . . from PCS, with some "personal business matters".

I keep getting calls from them on my assurance wireless cell phone.  I only get 200 minutes a month and am sick of the calls and no one being on the other line.  Several months ago they would talk and ask for Jasmine or Diane.  Only thing I can do is change the number.

got a phone call from 866-441-5558 saying:  this is the tacker group calling from the above number and we require a response from you this an important matter return our call immediately.....

I got that same message... I'm trying to research it... it came up takhargroup.com i thought it was a p too but google found it

I got that earlier too same thing and the website seems likes a joke.  I'm running a virus scan just in case i don't trust easily

They say I owe BGM club. I have not had a account with Bgm for over 20 years and that was paid off also it was in a previous married name. They say I owe 17.92 from an address that I didn't live at the time of the bill. I lived out of state at the time. They got my second husbands phone # that has only been in affect for year and a half.
They are threatening to put it on my credit report. They will not give me any info on who they are or the actual bill.

There was a forigner a man who constantly calls me about a $90 balance.  Today December 6, 2011 he called my phone and I explained to him that this was not a good time to talk because I was in a meeting.  He continued to talk and I hung up.  He calls me back three times and askes "HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE YOU TO PAY THIS BILL? then the last time he calls he leaves me another message calling me a [***].  I want to file a complaint against this group ASAP.  I have called and spoke with the manager she states he will not call me back again, but I told her Im not concerned about that but what is she going to do about this matter.

Scammers calling about BMG. Some Indian dude. I kept him on the phone for 45 Minutes. Maybe we can get a real call back number to start messing with these guys. They call once a week, love talking to Rafel or whatever his name was..

If you are with AT&T you can call them and have that number blocked and not see it again.

Have no clue who this is. Evidently DONOTCALL.GOV doesn't work.
From what I have been reading on this from the comments, sounds like a scam. I don't know of any bill or anything to do with what they would ever need to be calling me for.

* Simply do not answer calls from 800/888/866 or any "out of area" numbers. Valid callers will leave a non-cryptic message.  Usually, you will know when you expect an unknown call anyway, right?

* Never give these people your name. If they do not know your name already, they are scammers.

* To the people saying it is illegal.  If they were inside the USA, then it may be, but these people are calling from overseas where US laws DO NOT APPLY. Calling from Canada is "outside the USA" too. They are using computers to call which are nearly cost free from anywhere in the world. It is 1000x cheaper to call you than put a stamp on a letter.

* There is a statute of limitations on debt collections. It is different for every state. These people do not appear to follow any US laws, so I wouldn't pay them a penny or listen to them at all.  They've been calling numbers here about 4 times a yr for 10+ years and I do not have any debt or any unpaid bills.

* 4 yrs ago I had some time to kill and I was bored so I chatted with one of these guys. The guy must have known I was screwing with him. I gave him a different name every time he asked - none of them mine and all extremely common. My real name is unique in the USA, so if they actually knew my name, there would be ZERO question. They never do.

* There is a USA-wide DO-NOT-CALL list and if you signed up when it was initially announced, your number(s) have expired. You need to sign up again with all your numbers again. Do that here: https://donotcall.gov/  Some states also have do-not-call lists, mine does. Don't bother with those at all. They do not provide any additional protections.

* To the people who seem to get lots of these calls - stop filling out sweepstakes or signing up for "free" anything as you walk through malls.  Anytime you enter a contest online, you are asking for trouble.  Win an Xbox/iPhone/PS3?  No thanks.

Getting mad at these people doesn't help. Simply do not answer calls from 800/888/866 or any "out of area" numbers.

Never pay any attention to any debt collector it will cost them way much more to start a legal aaction that if they hire an attorney , they will lose money so do not listen to their empty crap the best advise is change your number into a cell phone and save these numbers and have them with a funny ring that you will not answer , so far i have 54 numbers that call me , one of them calls me only when the news says that the dow jones is up

I received a call from this company and didn't answer since I didn't know who it was. I called back and asked why they called me and they guy said that they are a financial planning company. I told him to take me off his call list and he said they would. We shall see.

HARRASSING DEBT COLLECTOR. THEY WERE SENDING BILLS TO AN ADDRESS THAT I HAVE NOT LIVED AT FOR OVER 2 YEARS. THEY REFUSED TO SEND ME A BILL TO MY CORRECT ADDRESS. WHEN I REFUSED TO PAY UNLESS I GOT A STATEMENT HE SAID ITS NOT HIS PROBLEM, I SHOULDN'T HAVE MOVED ETC. I TOLD HIM HE WAS A FUC%ING [***].

I get calls from this number all the time they say that I owe them for dvds I have never ordered when I ask them to send me proof of owing this bill they tell me they can not send me anything they ask me how I would like to pay. I tell them I am disputing this bill and they tell me I can not dispute this bill with them.

Too bad for them you can. Don't let them tell you any different This is your right under the FDCPA and they have to comply with your request within five days. If they ignore your request for DV, continue calliing and take you to court over an unvalidated debt, you can sue them!

These losers are debt [***] who buy old debts for around $0.02 per dollar owed. They then try to collect the money in the name of the lender and you guessed it...they keep the other $0.98 cents out of each dollar. Of course most people know better than to pay these fools but some do not.

Folks when a debt is discharged, its gone! Don't pay these idiots no matter what they threaten. They have no power...the debt is invalid and noncollectable...that's why they bought it so cheap. Just tell Achmed or Tashir or whatever his name is that you welcome his calls and would love to talk to him about [insert your favorite subject here]. Then KEEP pushing to talk about it!!!

I keep getting calls from this number.  They said it is from a debt to a book club from back in 2003.  I have never been a member of a book club.  I told them this and they hung up.  Called back the next several days in a row and never left a message.  If this was a legitimate debt collection company, they would leave a message as to why they are calling.  Total Scam.  Next time they call, I am going to answer and as soon as the person on the other end speaks, I am going to blow my Air Horn into the phone and hang up.
