Got a text message from this number about an unauthorized use on my card. Everyone's saying it's from 5/3 but I don't have any accounts with them. My credit union always calls when there is an issue. Wouldn't trust it.

I received a VM from this number stating they were Fraud Detection Dept for 5/3.  They told me there was some suspicious activity on my account and that it had been blocked.  They asked for my full name, last 4 digits of my social security number and date of birth.  Giving that information made me nervous but I gave it to them.  They said they would call me back at the phone number on my account but did not.  I checked my account from my mobile app and found two separate $400.00 ATM withdrawals from my account.  I immediately reported the card stolen.  Once I got home, I called the number on the back of my ATM card and they verified that the 866-442-0251 phone number IS their fraud detection department and that there was a block on my card.  They re-connected me with a person in the fraud department at the 866-442+-0251 number.  She asked me to verify the two withdrawal transactions and another transaction that did not show on my account but had been declined.  If it had not been  for their call, I have no idea how many other transactions would have gone through before I realized it.  They ordered me a new card but I do have to contact the disputes department tomorrow to get the $800.00 returned to my account.  That number is 877-833-6197.  So do not be afraid of calling this number since it was confirmed to be legit by 5/3.  I was terrified after they did not call me back that I had given sensitive information to a scammer and was literally shaking until they verified the legitimacy.  Hope this helps put someone else at ease that may have the same concerns.

Scammers are known to spoof legitimate numbers, so it's always best to call the number on the back of your card, the number from your bank statement, or the number from your bank's website.

This was legit. I called the number on the back of my CC first and spoke with the fraud dept. I told them I got a text message from "337-48" with that "866" phone number attached to it claiming it was 5/3 fraud dept. The rep I spoke with confirmed. They said there were 2 blocked transactions that did not process due to where they were located (hence why you wouldn't be seeing anything on line yet). They froze my account are sending me a new card. I wouldn't wait around for something to possibly go through!! Better safe than sorry.

I received a Message on my Samsung device. I was suspicious when my iPhone didn't get the same message. When I called the number back they wanted me to give them bank information. Obvious fraud.

this is legit.  I called 53 number from website and they transferred me to a case manager.  I had to call them back and they gave me this exact number to call them along with a reference number.

I was suspicious too.  I did not like giving my information, but I did.  I did call 53 direct and was also verified that the 866-442-0251 number was the number for the case manager handling my potential fraud charges.

Got a text saying my 5/3 card was used at a Gas Station. I was asked if it was an approved transaction. I said no and was sent this number.  Checked my account and I saw the transaction. I then called and the person explained he was from 5/3 fraud department.

I did not have to give any personal info. He just explained what I needed to do at the branch and that my card was now blocked. This is a real number! Glad they provide this service.

As I understand it this number is the one that 5/3 Fraud Protection wants clients to use to call them. They usually call from a 877 number and leave this one in the voicemail. There is a way for hackers to spoof a legitimate number like this one so if someone calls from it they may not be 5/3. Never give account or personal details to someone who calls you despite what the caller I'd says.

They sent me a text about a charge, I've had this happen before when I was not in town and buying gas, and I would say yes that I made the charge. This time however it was a charge that I didn't make, I said no to the text about the charge in question, when I tried calling the number, it just said fraud detection services and nothing about 5/3, and they wanted me to enter my card number, so I hung up. I called 5/3 customer support, when I did, and entered my number there, it sent me directly to fraud services. The card hadn't been blocked at that time, but they told me that a charge had been declined, I told them I didn't make a charge for that amount, but I had charged something from that vendor a couple days before. when we determined I didn't charge this particular amount, he blocked the card, and it is going to be 5-7 days before I get the new cards, but most likely won't take that long.
