Please stop leaving messages to call "Josheph" and not say what the matter is about. This is very annoying. Especially when you are being called several times your work place.

So far, I have received 4 phone calls on my phone at work with a message left from Joseph at 866-443-6985 saying I should call him back about a check I wrote for security purposes.  I know this is a lie because all of the checks I have written, and I don't write any more than one or two a month if necessary, have cleared and these checks were written several months ago to pay a bill.  I know the checks are fine because my lights and my landline phone are still working LOL!! and no one is asking me to pay a delinquent balance.  I knew from the first call from Joseph that this was possibly a fraudulent call.  I just couldn't believe that a debt collector would go that far knowing that he or she was probably violating the law.  I have saved three of the recorded messages from him.  There was a debt collector that kept calling me about a pay advance loan back in December 2008 that I should never have contacted.  They didn't follow their own rules and put money into my account without my knowledge. When I learned about the extra money in my account, I called them and arranged to pay what they put into my account. I considered it total confusion from my request and their reply, so I wanted to be fair and give them their money back. I paid what we agreed to in January and February of 2009.  Then I get a call from them @ November of 2009 saying I owe them that same money.  I explained what we agreed to and sent proof of payment from the withdrawals on my bank statement.  So they stopped calling, and another company called NPA started calling about the same thing.  I went through the same process with them until one lady named Erica at NPA left a message on my phone at work and threatened to call my employer about this so-called bill if I didn't call them back and comply.  I kept her recording and let her know I did,  so they stopped calling.  The next thing I knew, this Joseph person is calling talking about a check I wrote--which obviously has to be a lie because there is no check that I have written recently that he could be talking about.  I believe, especially since I have seen this blog, that they are debt collectors for this same thing.  I refuse to call or even acknowledge them at this time.  I am sick of this harrassment!

I just received a call from some guy name Joesph and wanted me to call a 1 866  number but originally it was a 253 number.  He said he wanted to clarify information of a check I wrote..lol I like you Lady 14 only write 1 or 2 and thats it..lol So why would some associates office call me..lol  My checks went through my bank so I know there is no problem...lol  Thank you for havin this site

"Joseph" keeps calling. I don't know what they are calling about but I have never answered.... I do not write checks. I do not even own a check book so what he says he is calling about is false. He calls me from all different numbers on my cell and at work all different hours.

Joseph has called me twice from a 682 (north for worth number)  each time he was voicemailed.

Yeah, the scare tactics will catch you off guard if you aren't familiar with them.  The first time I caled a called from "Seargent Jones" with the Dallas County Investigations department i was totally terrified and shaking.  Little did I know it was a bottom feeder collection angency.  I refused to pay them because he couldnt tell me the name of the company he worked for, their address, or phone number.

I then asked for a letter of verification and this [***] got totally out of line.  His put some smaty pants supervisor on the line who for one cursed at me and told me enjoy time in jail for writing bad checks.  Evidentally she didnt know that the call had absolutely nothing to do with a check.  

They still call from time to time but thank Goodness my phone has a app to send them straight to voicemail.

Message; "Call 1-866-443-6985 IMMEDIATELY to verify info on a check you wrote."

Since I DON'T have a checking account, just for grins I called it...
After he said he needed my soc sec number to verify, I very politely said   "no, whats yours?".
He said "What?"
I said "Whats YOUR soc sec Number?"
He said "That doesn't matter - I'm talking about a check you wrote".
I said  "Whats the check number?"
He "didn't have it handy".
He then asked me if I knew an "A-------- S---------"  
( Name deleted - )
I said "No".
He said "Sure you do".
I said " (deleted for nastiness and rudeness, but what the hell - you call my phone and basically call
  me a liar then "(deleted for nastiness and rudeness)".
And I hung up.
He's looking for A--- S---, tho how he got my UNLISTED number I don't know.
Wanna bet some 999% interest loan company made a bad loan to A--- S---, now there trying to get someone else to pay by fear and intimidation??. I'm retired after 30+ years in the military. The only "fear" I have is missing a Nascar race on Sunday. The only person who can "intimidate" me is my 3-year old granddaughter.

Everyone needs to tell these [***] "(deleted for nastiness and rudeness").

He also calls from 702-933-8860, I work in an Emergency Room  Trauma Center and "Joseph" called me 3 times one day I told him to stop calling my work and he said he'd call me every [***] day until I paid my debt, then he called my Human Resources Office and Faxed them some bogus made up letter from Rho Associates saying they are sueing me,  I faxed back and sad bring it on, but Joseph keeps calling my work!

it's funny you say that you're surprised that so many are being sued when you just admitted that you were sued for writing a bad check .. what's so surprising about that??

I just attended a job fair recently where I had given my resume to a company by the name of Frontier Financial Group and Associates. They called me back today leaving a voicemail asking me to come in for an interview if I were still interested. They called from a 702 445 7777 number and requested that I call them back at 702 586 4444 ext. 301/Nicole. I wanted to check them out online for their credentials and all that I can find are this scam caller listings .. there is no website and both of those numbers are listed on a website or two. Sounds like I better steer clear from these people .. I am in need of a job and now I am worried that I might become a victim since they have not only my name and number, but my home address and work history! They might be a legimate company to work for, but who in their right mind would assist them??

PS - they are definitely a debt collection agency and not a law firm ...

I received a msg on my answering machine from Joseph who said "I need to talk to you about a check you wrote to FSG Assoc.  Call Joseph at  866-443-6985 to settle this matter".

I do not know this person and have no dealings with FSG Assoc.

I checked into this company as I was getting calls everyday from "Joseph" I called them with the information that I found veifiable from BBB and FTC and just by surfing the net.
This company is working without a license and has been ordered by the courts to cease all operations.
I told "Daniel" that I knew that they were working without a lic. he informed me that they were moving from 1 office to another and was in the process of updating their lic. I called BS and said when you move so does your lic. DUH!!!
So I threatened them with filing a police report for harrassment and setting up a lawsuit,

Please read this part WHEN YOU CALL THEM BACK THEY GET YOUR NAME AND NUMBER FROM THEIR CALLER ID THATS HOW THEY KNOW THE NAME TO ASK FOR.

THEY HAVE NONE OF YOUR INFO UNTIL YOU GIVE IT TO THEM

I have not heard back from them once since I called them and told them that I knew that they were working without a lic.
so give it a try........

I had a man call by the name of Joseph. He called a business not a personal phone! The phone number he left was 866-443-6985 and said to return the call regarding a check that was written and they needed to verify information for security reasons.

Keep recieving calls from FFG and Associates, regarding a so called check I wrote.  This 866 number is the number that they say I should reply to.  However the number that shows on caller id when they call my house at least 4 times a day is the following: 414-434-7592 the person leaving a message says his name is daniel and I can return his call at the 866 number x230

Yes I do in fact know who that is. His name is Joseph and he is from Fsg or something like that. He keeps calling me about a "check that I wrote" I haven't written a check in over a year!! HaHa!!
This guy is pretty much a telemarketer, who is trying to get your information so he can get your money!! DO NOT CALL HIM OR THE NUMBER HE GIVES YOU!!  IT IS A SCAM!!

I got the voice msg from the Joe couple times.
How can I stop this?

I received  the same call, they are scum bags living off, of vulnerable innocent human beings.They should be put in jail, I called the FBI of my state to report it but theres isn't much that they can do for now.

I have received several calls about a "bad check" that they say I wrote.  I write VERY FEW checks and do not have any insufficient funds checks floating about.  Same thing about wanting to verify information.  Ask me about someone else.  Tell them that is not me.  They want to continue to ask questions.  When I ask to speak with a supervisor or to not call me anymore they hang up on me.  I reported them to the Kansas Attorney General but am informed there is little they can do (even though the calls are harrassing and they will not cease to call me.)  The KS AG suggests a certified return receipt letter to them advising not person they are looking for and to cease calling me.  This however opens the door for them with my name and address and they already have my phone number.  In my situation, I think the only thing I can do is hire a private attorney and/or change my phone number.  What a shame that a consumer has to go thru this that has absolutely no business with them.  I refuse to give them my personal information.  They have already shown they are scandalous by not being disrespectful and pushy.  I will not feed into their game.  Let them sue me then I can countersue with damages, real and punitive.
