It's Gerald E. Moore & Associates. They claim I have an unpaid bill but I have hard time believing them because I was out of the country that year.

Called me on a business cell phone and claimed they were looking at my credit report right now and I owe $4900.00 for a 1998 debt. I pulled up my credit report [I subscribe to triple protection via Experian] and scrolled through and the item they claimed was NOT there. I said I was looking at it and that it wasn't there and "who are you really with?" A little concerning that a "Collection Attorney" on the other side of the country can get information about me and start pestering. Told them they had the wrong guy and provided no other information. They sure fished for some sort of SSN information.

Received multiple calls from them on my daughter's cell phone stating they are collecting a debt for a Joseph Solis.  I spoke with them once and they said it was a Bank of America Debt.  When I asked for the SSN of the person they were collecting on to verify (because I would not give mine) they said they would have to call me back.  I then accused them of trying to scam me.  The converstaion went south from there and he hung up on me (a win).  I called back and asked to speak to the managing partner.  A person picked up the phone from hold and when asked what his position was, he said production assistant (strange for a law firm).  A few weeks later, after receving three voice mails to call, I called and told them I was not Josheph Solis and the phone number was wrong.  We'll see how it goes now after a Gill (x7864) told me he would remove me from the list.

Got a call from "Gerald E. Moore and Associates" claiming I had debt that needed to be collected.  A woman gave a name of Elaine (ext. 72852)and wanted me to call this 1-866 number to gather information.  I called the number and a very ignorant man answered and had to think about whether he was an attorney's office or not.  I've reported my info to the BBB.

    Bud Says...

This is a VERY sleazy operation, being perpetrated by liars, thieves and con-men. Gerald E. Moore runs a VERY dirty collection agency, his thugs have been taped posing as attorney's threatening legal actions that violate state and federal laws.

This House of SCAMS is to be avoided, NO money, NO checks by phone, NO credit cards. Gerald E. Moore's activities should be reported to the Georgia State Bar, as an ethics complaint. (instructions below).  Moore is a sleazy, low-life lawyer operating this 'Legalized Racketeering' under the guise of a law office. Moore and his goons are trash, they should be treated as 'dumpster waste.'

Originally, from CA, licensed in 1997, Moore got his start at Bank of America in their bankruptcy division. Moore ended up in GA, where he now operates this collection agency under the guise of a law office. This allows his 'collection-goons' to lie, threaten, intimidate, and harass consumers with violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Typically, these collection-idiots will threaten legal actions they know will never take place in the hope of stealing money from unsuspecting consumers.

Complaints regarding Gerald E. Moore should be filed with the Georgia State Bar Ethic's Committee at: www.gabar.org

A law license does NOT give a jerk like Moore the right to terrorize consumers with bogus threats of litigation, seizure and other illegal actions. Moore can be held accountable for the actions of the lawlessness of his employees.

Let's teach Gerald and his tele-terrorists a lesson by sending Gerald E. Moore the FREE cease-comm letter instead of money. No one has to deal with debt collectors who lie, threaten, and intimidate, the laws were created to protect you.

My cousin's son, age 14, has gotten two calls on his cell phone from these people. He's hung up on them both times. I called the number back, it answered as Hollander Law Offices and then immediately clicked over to a lady. I told her that I had the wrong number, she said "No ma'am, you don't. We called you." I told her again that I had the wrong number and hung up on her before she could continue.

Then I looked online for information and found this.

Someone needs to shut these people down.

I will be contacting my local newspaper to spread the word locally.

Several harassing phone calls have been received from Hollander Law Offices for an employee at her former place of business.  They try several sleazy ways to elicit information.  Very deceptive techniques used to locate this person.  The phone call turns ugly when you don't immediately give them what they ask for.  They have called and talked to everyone in our small office repeatedly.  They will not take "We can't give out that information" for an answer. We've received several calls each day for a week. They've never admitted that they are a collection agency.  But, they have faxed over information stating that they are representing 'Bank of America'.

I received a phone call from 214-233-7243 and message was left that it was Hollander Law Office trying to collect a debt of name I did not know.  They said to return call to 866-448-8558.

According to google this also is phone number of Gerald E. Moore Law Office sleez debt collector as noted in message of JD - MN on Feb 1, 2008 above.  Perhaps Mr. Moore's reputation is so bad they are now using name of Hollander.

I do not return calls to numbers of people I do not know, especially when referencing a name I do not know.

    Texas Ms.
Spoke with someone who claimed that he was working for Hollander to collect Bank of America debt of $1095.00. Claimed that he  was father of five and part-time minister. He insisted that he was working there because he loved helping people. He was very insistant that I set up a sheduled payment plan with my bank and when I refused he said that they had the authority to up the interest rate to 31%. I told him that I believed that I should be dealing with Bank of America and I was not comfortable dealing with his office and he assured me that his law firm would have the credit blemish removed from my credit report. When I told him that I would need to verify all of his info via the internet, he said that was fine . and he would call back in a day or so. He has not called for two weeks now.thats for all the info on this company.

This number has called my home at least five times in the last several weeks leaving a message for my son who does not live here.  I called them twice and told them they had a wrong number and to remove my number.  I was told by a Ms Johnson that the number was removed yet I have received two more calls from them.  Today I called back to tell them once again to remove my number when Ms. Johnson called me a liar that I have never called and talked to her.  She was very rude and would not let me talk then she hung up.  I called back and when I tried to explain to another lady she hung up.  At this point I was determined to get my say in so I called again and talked to yet a different person - she at least checked and said my number was not showing up in their system.  I say if there is anyway to prosecute and shut down this group I'm there.

    Paralegal
Folks - if you have been contacted by a third party collector that is harassing you, do the following:

    1.  Write down the collectors name and get his address
    2.  Request a letter in writing about the debt owed (who, what, when & where)(Section 809 of the FDCPA)  I would quote this section in the letter.
    3.  Once you get off the phone, write down everything you can about that telephone call
    4.  Write that agency a letter requesting they not contact you and send it by certified mail, return receipt requested.  In this letter, list everyone they are not to contact.  It is a violation of the FDCPA if they contact you that is received.  You may also tell them by telephoned, but follow-up in writing.
    5.  Learn about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and don't be afraid to use your knowledge of it against these collectors.  In the course of my job at a law office we use the following link of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf - anyone who does collection work is required to follow the Act or statutory damages may be obtained by the injured party.  Those damages are for each violation of the law, not each phone call and at $1,000 per violation can add up during a particularly nasty call.  Familiarize yourself with Sections 804, 805, 806, 807 and 808 - those are the sections on what we are not supposed to do.

I know this is long but it is imperative that the people stand up to these types of collectors to stop them.  They probably bought your debt from the original creditor for .15 on the dollar and are looking to make a quick buck.  If you push and let them know you not only are aware of but know certain aspects of this act, they will stop harassing you.  This comes not only from my job, but from an experience three years ago, where I won a judgment against a collection agency in New York for over $6000.00 which more than covered my debt and I was able to go on vacation with what was left.

I have been receiving calls from Hollander Law Offices for months. Thinking it was a legitimate collections agency, I returned the calls several times, trying to explain the relative they are calling for does not live with me any longer and I have tried to give them a forwarding address so they can contact this person by mail. My conversations were as horrible as anything mentioned above. The employees are really adept at verbal abuse, threats, and attacks, and if they hear anything uncomfortable they hang up. When I asked if they would send a statement to the person in question they said no. When I requested they take my name off their list they said it had been done that I was lying about receiving their latest calls. I can't express enough how upsetting their calls have been. From this point forward I will save the messages and ask my phone company to provide me with a list so I can file a complaint with my state's attorney general. Thank you to Paralegal for the specific steps to take if this harassment continues.

i work for hollander law offices and it's about the best experience you're going to have with a debt collector. Yes it is an attorney's office, yes they have the power to forward your case to an attorney in your state to file suit against you.
    PEOPLE...
IF YOU PAY YOUR BILLS YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN THE VICTOM OF IDENTITY FRAUD, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

IF YOU WOULD BE POLITE AND LISTEN TO THE PERSON ON THE PHONE YOU WOULD GET TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR PROBLEMS.

people don't understand, it's not the debt collectors fault the bank charges unbelievably high fees and interest rates on accounts that have been closed. if you were paying 10% apr on a credit card, when you decide to stop paying for it, every month they will add as much as 25% interest until the debt is charged off.

and we can NOT possibly call you without being recorded. every call, every day is recorded and instantly accessable.

A man named Chris Sobzcek called asking for my half-brother who hasn't lived at this address for over 13 years. He started by asking for my brother, and I told him he had the wrong number. When he asked if this was the ____ Home, and I said yes, he said "You don't know your brothers phone number?" I got angry and asked who I was talking to, and unfortunately he simply replied "Chris". My half-brother has a step-sibling named "Chris" and I assumed that was who was talking to me, so I gave him the information he was looking for. I didn't suspect anything, and simply believed I had given one of his family members his current contact information.

It wasn't until a week later that "Chris" called back and this time got my Mom. She was more suspicious after I had told her about the odd call I recieved, and was able to get his full name (Chris Sobzcek) and where he worked (Hollander Law Firm) plus this number. He claimed his law firm was located in St. Louis. Be careful of these guys, they're very shystery...
