a person called my disposable cell phone looking for me under my maiden name.left a message telling me to call 1-800-466-1505.and an extension number.the number that came up on my phone though was 972-546-1557 and that came back as dallas,texas.not georgia.i'm kind of confused now.help?

Tell me this,  If you are a law firm trying to collect money then why wont you send proof of what is owed and to whom.  You say that you can not provide this imformation, so why would you think that anyone in their right mind would pay you a dime????

Recover what funds.  You won't even tell people what they owe and to whom they owe it.  If you are an attorneys office or just their helper then you should know that by law you must send a copy of the bill you are trying to collect on.  Why do you refuse to do that.  How is the person you are trying to get money from know that you are legit or just a scam trying to get their money...... Answer me that

EVERY ACCOUNT GETS A LETTER SENT OUT. HOWEVER IF THE ADDRESS IS NO LONGER ANY GOOD TO YOU AND YOU DIDNT PLACE A FORWARDING ADDRESS W/ YOUR POST OFFICE, THEN HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET ANY MAIL. HOWEVER IF YOU ARE COMMUNICATING W/ US, PLEASE ADVISE US OF YOUR NEW ADDRESS AND WE WILL GLADLY SEND YOU OUT A NEW COPY, OR IF YOU HAVE A FAX WE WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO FAX YOU THE LETTER AS WELL.

Don't give us that "you didn't forward your mail" crap. You don't want to send a letter because it is a written document that could bite you in the rear if it goes to court. Plain and simple.

I got a call from this illegal firm, of course calling from numerous numbers in the US (401 and 201 area codes so far), and after reviewing this website filed a complaint with the FTC.  The FTC also says that you should contact your state Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) and file a complaint with them as well.  I also contacted Hollander Law in Oregon and let them know that this firm is using their Law firm in illegal practices by disguising themselves as Hollander Law.  Let the FTC and your state CPA handle these kinds of people.  I have used this process once before and now I no longer hear from those folks.

On July 28,2008 I recieve a call from  the person Of Rod Pogue and he told me that he was calling from the Law Office of Gerald E. Moore @ Accociated
and that he was getting ready to serve the sheriff in my county a letter to
have me  to go too court.He stated that I owe $2,217.71 to a debt collector
and if I didn't send him some money by the end of July that I would have to
meet court.I told him that I had a light stroke and I have not been working.
He would't take nothing  I said but kept on talking about going to court. If  anybody read this article I need some help. I sent this man a money
order in the amount of $500.00 and I heard a word from him. What must I do
to see where is my money. Please help!

I did research on my own and found this on this company...I don't know guys I think they are very much liget. I would comply w/ them...Wouldn't it suck to end up getting sued for something that could have been eaisly taken care of?

did you put a tracking # on your mail in payment? You should always do that when you send money anywhere. Did you get his phone #? call him and see if you money has been recieved...

I received a message from an automated system to call Hollander Law Office at (866)448-8558.  It sounded fishy so I looked it up and found this site.  After reading that it is a collection agency, I knew they had the wrong number.  I called the number, was on hold for about 2 minutes.  The girl that answered the phone was very polite.  I told her I received an automated message and I believe it was a wrong number.  I gave her the phone number (nothing else!) and she told me the name of the man they were trying to reach.  This isn't the first time we've had a wrong number call from a bill collector for this guy.  I told her we've had the number for over a year, and I have no idea who that guy is.  She was very nice and said she'd remove my number from their list.  That was it, no problem.

I got a call from someone named "Becky" at the Holland Law Firm: 866-448-8558 x7826.  She actually called me at SCHOOL (where I am a STUDENT, not a TEACHER).  I recognized the number as I'd had a confrontational conversation with someone else who worked there before.  But, I called her back anyway.  Right off the bat, she starts to belittle me about a large bill I supposedly owe to Bank of America and how I need to arrange to pay this bill off. I told her that I am a student and I live off approx. $800 a month (actually, it's as low as $300 and as much as $1100, depending on the month and whether I get a student loan to cover that period). I am grown and don't need to be belittled by anyone, so I hung up on the [***] (after I told her to never call me again, especially at school).  

Most people who have debt want to pay it; however, if you don't have the money because you lost your job and are subsequently un- or underemployed, then you can't meet all of your obligations.  To the person who's screaming in all caps above, debtors are not stupid deadbeats that you have to harass, belittle and browbeat into submission.  The main problem lies with the initial creditor - many times, people want to negotiate through them and get the payments/interest rates reduced; however, the creditor (in this case a credit card company) makes more money if they sell the debt outright to a third party - better to get $10,000 from a collection agency to whom the debt was sold than to try and negotiate with the debtor for pennies on the dollar - let the collection agency get that money back.  So, the collection agency puts the pit bulls on the phone and the problems ensue. Bottom line: when people have money, they pay; when they don't, they want to negotiate; if the entity doesn't want to negotiate, people don't pay and don't want to be harassed about money they just don't have. If it leads to court, so be it.  You can't get blood from a stone. Period.

First off, like the rest of you . . . I received a call from these people asking to speak with my father, who is a senior citizen and does not speak English very well. Would NOT let me take the call even after he gave them permission to speak with me. Got a number to call them back, did a Google search and vala! this link came up. Read it all and found out some interesting things.

SECOND! TO THE PERSON "SCREAMING IN CAPS". DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE ILLEGITIMACY OF STATING THAT YOU ARE NOT A COLLECTION AGENCY BUT YET HAVING THE NAME "COLLECTOR"?! SECOND, I HAVE BEEN SENT A LETTER BY A COLLECTION AGENCY BEFORE, OPERATIVE WORD BEING "LETTER'. THEY NEVER CALLED ME. YOU DON'T ASK TO RECEIVE A LETTER, YOU JUST GET ONE. COLLECTION AGENCIES GO DIRECTLY TO THE PERSON THAT OWES NOT A THIRD PARTY LAW OFFICE.
