Action Collection a debt collector called woke me up....told me I owed on a medical bill...I said I don't have a copy of the bill so please send it so I can call me insurance...says they sent it in August...ok I don't have it...Reply : So you are refusing to pay..I said no resend it so I can call insurance...no the moron says it's because the  insurance didn't pay , I heard you..send me the bill..shesaid we are on recorded line ...heard you at the beginning of the call.. so I finally got tired of asking her to resend the bill and the recorded call now has some very crude language on it.  I can't pay if I don't what I'm paying for, and or why .

Same experience as many others - called, I heard "Hello" then ringing that continued until the phone hit it's message time limit and hung up on him. I too have had stolen identity issues in recent past, so this could have been a result of that.

I have received a several calls from this # , never answer them.

This number called and when I answered it said "hello", then started ringing and ringing with no answering machine so I hung up.

Called left entire message in Spanish. Something about ACA owe money, I have no clue.. sounded like a scam.

Caller said hello, then transferred to another line that just kept ringing. I assumed it was ACS and when I search the phone number I was correct. While I do have student loans (or did) they have been asked to not call me during work hours, and to please email. Never Happens!!! They call whenever they want.

Calls as debt collector and says for me to call the same number back and hangs up.

Repeated calls, no one there when I answer, looks like a scammer from the other comments. Blocked on all lines-done!!!

This is a robocall claiming to be Action Collection Agency out of Boston, MA.  They've called every day for the past two weeks at all times of the day.  We don't owe anyone.  This is a total scam.  DO NOT CALL THEM BACK or respond.

1st you say they are legit then you identity thieves, cant be both.

I was left a message a few weeks ago and returned the call.  They claim to be debt collectors.  The person I talked to was VERY rude and would not tell me what they were calling about.  I asked that they send me the information in the mail.  They still have not done so, but have recently begun calling again.  This this time they are not leaving messages.

You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I got a phone call from this number this morning and they left a voicemail. The message said it's a debt collecting agency in Boston and I owe debt. I'm 17, live with my parents, don't attent college yet, and don't pay taxes yet, so it's obviously a scam for money and/or personal information.

I got mutiplue calls from this number saying they are a debt collector from Boston,MA.    They told me I have a debt from a place I don’t recognize.    I am a little weary this may be a scam.  Can anyone  confirm or deny scam?

There are 4 pages in this thread, 78 posts before yours.  Did you read them?  Because the answer to that question has been posted at least twice in this thread along with what you should know, what you should do, and how you should do it, along with federal and state agencies where you could not only learn more but report as well.
