Wrong. They are calling a number we've had registered for a decade and asking for someone who we've never heard of, playing a threatening recording into our answering machine when we don't pickup.

These guys are calling any old number believed to be associated with the person they're trying to collect from .... even if their information is from the 1990s or something ... and they keep calling it over and over and over and over again until someone calls in and tells them not to.  They simply use computers and near-zero-cost Internet calling-plans to harass the [***] out of people on their real home and on their cell phones until they spend their own real money and time to track them down and put up with their discourteous behavior while letting them know that their number for the past decade is or so is not associated with the person they're looking for.  

The legal "mistake" they're making is that they reveal the name of the debtor and that it's a debt-collection related call, which as previously noted by others in this thread, is a violation of federal law.  Unfortunately, the only party with a cause of action for that offense is the named person --and these [***] know that.

For us totally innocent bystanders being roughed up by Indian mobsters looking for some sucker, we have next to zero recourse, so long as they stop bothering us once we spend all the time and money to track them down and tell them to.  That we're giving these people IN OTHER COUNTRIES the legal authority to invade our soil like this and cause people stress related injury is wrong and I'm voting against every Democrat on the ticket because of this [***].

I am receiving this number on my phone. Whwn I answer teh phone there is nobody on the other end.

All 866 numbers are toll free numbers.

I keep getting calls from this company but no one answers ,they call all hours of the day....

Just answer the phone and then, place the phone on the table and walk away....leave it there for 5 minutes and let the beep---beep---continue. The caller will not be able t call anyone else....for minutes.

Yes, they have been calling me all the times too so what I did was I called them back, did not say my name, and asked them to take my number off of their database because I am NOT the person they're looking for.  Make sure you get the name of the person you call, write down the date and time of your call, document as much as you can because under the Court of Laws, things must be in writing.
If they call you again, don't be upset.  Life is beautiful.  Just simply tell them that this is the second time I tell you to take my number off.  On the third time, I will contact the Attorney General (of your State).  Very simple.  Don't let them beat you to have a heart attack.  Be calm, life is grande.  We follow the system and we will win at the end.

I keep getting annoying phone calls from this number regarding an individual that I have no contact with.  The caller has been told many times that the person they are calling does not live here.  I assume that the caller is a debt collector.

I have been getting calls from this number for over a week now. They usually only call once (which is short of a miracle in itself) and I just put phone to ignore. I was also having problems with someone trying to call for some Tammy or Terry on my daughter's phone and they kept calling  two or three times within the hour. I was able to track down some numbers and the advice I was given was get my phone numbers registered on the National Do Not Call registry  or change numbers. I've had my phone number for over 10 years and my daughter's number has been the same for at least 6. So I should switch numbers and get harassed again for someone else? Not sure the FTC or FCC can do anything about this. And as for Eric's comment that people are getting calls because they owe money--that's not entirely true.

I just called them back was on hold for two seconds and got told they wold remove the list. Looking for someone named "Rachel Baker" have no idea who that is other than I used to get other collection calls back when I first got my phone number. Seems like they go away for a few months and then come back. I am pretty sure they have called before and I have been removed. I told him today I was making a record of my conversation with them to expedite the process of legal action should they contact me again. He made a note saying I have had this number for years, I think deadbeat gives out this number.

This number has been calling many days in a row.  At first it claimed to be some debt service.  Afterward, It left no message.  Indeed suspicious.

I get a call from this number 3 times a day.  Sometimes, I am on my motorcycle and I have to pull over to check my messages because my mother is in the hospital and it a tremendous incovenience.

I have been getting calls from this # however they NEVER leave a voicemail.  I have had to have the # blocked on my cell phone.  There is no reason I should be getting calls from a collections agency.
